  1. With regard to the brass plates, why not contact someone who restores old license plates? Perhaps they have the know how to paint the black background. Great looking car.
  2. My car (A377xxx) was built during the first week of July 1925 and is titled as 1925. The 1926 Series began with car A372475. Your car falls well within the 1926 series production. I guess the question is how did DB assign the year shown on the title? See attached build chart from the DB Club web site: http://www.dodgebrothersclub.org/DB_Production_Dates.pdf
  3. I think I'll celebrate by taking my 89 year old DB for a ride.
  4. Shown below are 2 photo's of how /where the vacuum line is attached to the vacuum tank. Notice the black rubber hose going into the firewall. The 3rd photo is of the little wiper control knob located to the left of the choke lever.
  5. Attached are 3 photo's of the vacuum wiper motor after my attempt to restore it. You can see the bracket for the original motor is on the outside of the car. In order to make it fit, I had to shim it away from the windshield. I wanted to make it look as original as possible even though it was obviously made for an inside mount. You would get the vacuum from a "T" fitting on the vacuum tank
  6. This vacuum wiper motor might be what you are looking for. I bought and sold this wiper motor years ago because my car's wiper fits on a bracket outside. Good luck finding one like this. It was made of pot (die cast) metal and they were prone to warping over time.
  7. FYI -- my '25 DB has a transmission lock. I seriously doubt this was offered as an option. My car was manufactured during the first week of July 1925 which actually makes it a 1926 model even though it was titled as 1925.
  8. If you are trying to free rusted bolts, check out this post: http://forums.aaca.org/f143/what-i-use-stuck-nuts-bolts-378832.html
  9. Well, there is always Air Mail.
  10. Check out this video re. double clutching: http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=double+clutch+dodge+ford+you+tube&FORM=VIRE5#view=detail&mid=DF213C24FA80E0C93C8EDF213C24FA80E0C93C8E
  11. My '25 DB is painted Dodge Brothers blue with black fenders.
  12. Buy a set of 4 CD's from the Dodge Brothers store --- copies of all articles from the newsletter are at your fingertips. http://shop.dodgebrothersclub.com/
  13. Did anyone ever wonder why the engine number is approx. 50,000 higher than the car serial number?
  14. Based on the serial number ---believe this is a 1926 series assembled during the first 7 days in July 1925 --- the same as my car. My car is titled as a 1925.

  19. There is a '25 DB Special in the Gilmore Car Museum, Hickory Corners, MI that appears to be an excellent restoration (which includes the pinstripe). I've been unable to get them to photograph the pinstripe --- not sure it's the correct color but it sure looks great from the photo.
  20. I have been trying for years to obtain more information on cartouche yellow. I was told its a pale yellow but have not been successful getting a paint formula.
  21. I enjoy driving my '25 DB Coach typically on Saturday or Sunday mornings. I run it at least every other week and try to put about 15 miles on it each time out. The only show I attend is Das Awkscht Fescht at Macungie, PA every August (weather permitting). It is a 48 mile round trip for me. Also FYI, Dodge Brothers will be the featured car at Das Awkscht Fescht in two years. I also enjoy driving it through the historic area of Bethlehem, PA which always attracts attention.
  22. You might want to check old Chevy part sources. Chevy also sold a Fisher Body coach. I found a few items I was looking for in a bin of Chevy parts.
  23. When your gut tells you to shift, wait a few seconds and then shift double clutching in the process. Also, I found if the engine idle speed is too high, it will be more difficult to shift without the grinding. Bottom line, don't rush your shifting (just because some idiot is crawling up your rear end) --- take your time.
