  1. Couple photos I took of the 1901 Columbia on show day. This unbelievable CT-made relic really drew a crowd!
  2. Positively awesome 1952 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon at the Central CT Region Glastonbury, CT annual meet, Sunday, June 9th, 2013: Plenty more Glastonbury Buicks still to come... Steve 2003 Buick LeSabre, Dark Bronzemist Metallic BCA #47004<!-- google_ad_section_end -->
  3. I drove out to Westbook, CT this past Saturday, June 8th, 2013, for an open house gathering at a noted Shoreline-area old car specialist, "Cardone & Daughter Automotive" (ref: Vintage Car Repair & Service in Connecticut - Cardone & Daughter | Vintage Car Service & Repair in Connecticut – Cardone & Daughter), who were specially welcoming VW folks from the CT VW Association that day (Cardone & Daughter Automotive host various club-specific gatherings during the season). While there I had the opportunity to chat with Chris, who is a hard-working volunteer with the CT VW Association (ref: Connecticut Volkswagen Association), and who is the new owner of my former daily driver 1996 VW Passat station wagon. I had parked the LeSabre next to Chris's Passat when I got there, and at one point I was able to get a nice shot of Chris posing with both cars, and with some of the Cardone & Daughter Automotive signage in the background: Glad to hear the Passat is treating you well, Chris, and great job fixing up all the stuff that I had neglected! Ouch! Steve 2003 Buick LeSabre, Dark Bronzemist Metallic BCA #47004<!-- google_ad_section_end -->
  4. Very nice dash plaque and booklet came in the car show participants' goodie bags, that I took pictures of when I got home. Believe I also have a couple of shots of that incredible feature vehicle, 1901 Columbia (Hartford, CT manufactured), that I took at the show--will follow up with those next chance I get...
  5. Back to the Glastonbury Central CT Region AACA car show, Sunday, June 9th, 2013. Here's a magnificent 1949 Roadmaster: Lots more to come from Glastonbury 2013, so stay tuned... Steve 2003 Buick LeSabre, Dark Bronzemist Metallic BCA #47004
  6. I have to back up by one day from the Glastonbury pictures, which I will certainly be returning to... The previous day (Saturday, June 8th, 2013) I was driving through Durham, CT, and stopped at this garage along the roadside that I'd passed for many years, and since I had my camera with me, I snapped a couple of pictures, including this 1950 Buick that was on the lot: The place was called "Tri-Central Motors," and I can supply contact info if anyone might be interested in inquiring about this Buick. 7. Hi Steve! Yes, we did indeed admire the superb tan '69 VW Beetle Sedan that was over at the end of one of the rows, with a really slick older BMW motorcycle parked by it. The owner of that VW came up to us right when we were parked and asked why we were not near him--I told him we parked where we were told to park. Another very slick '60s VW Bug Convertible showed up also, later in the day. EDIT: Oh, and it just occurred to me that this car was also *Volkswagen-based* (though I believe it has a Subaru water cooled flat four powerplant now); it's a "Meyers Manxter," and a very superbly-constructed one at that! I think the "Manxter" is based on a non-shortened air cooled Beetle chassis. More info: http://www.meyersmanx.com/manxter2+2.shtml Keep handing those Time Machines flyers out, Matt! Speaking of awards, "rumor has it" that Jack's new HPOF Pinto Squire station wagon might've won an award at the end of the day. Do you have any info on that, Steve? I took a bunch more pictures, and am also in process of adding some to the "I love the picture of this Buick" area over in Buick-forum-land, ref: http://forums.aaca.org/f115/i-just-love-picture-buick-339973.html Just an all-around great show, Steve--we were thoroughly & completely pleased and impressed! Thanks to your and everyone's magnificent efforts within the Central CT Region AACA!
  8. My son and I attended the Central CT Region AACA car show in Glastonbury, CT yesterday (Sunday, June 9, 2013), and had a tremendous time. Here's a bit more info about the event, in a thread originated by forum member SteveMackCT, who is a Central CT Region member & worker on the event: http://forums.aaca.org/f213/ccr-aaca-glastonbury-car-show-june-352556.html I saw many beautiful Buicks there, and photographed most, if not all of them. I will gradually upload photos I took of them as I am able. I will start with photos I took of an incredible 1920 Buick, model listed as "K45" on the windshield card. What a cool and amazing car: Great job by SteveMack and all the Central CT Region AACA organizing and producing this wonderful event! Steve 2003 Buick LeSabre, Dark Bronzemist Metallic BCA #47004
  9. Wow, what a great time at the AACA Central CT Region show today! Great job by Steve Mack and all Central CT-ers! My son Matt and I drove up in our '70 VW (superb day for a convertible ride!). While we were there, we ran across Steve Mack's beautiful Signal Red Mercedes roadster, so had to take a picture of Matt posing with it. Later we saw Steve Mack and his father Bruce near the MB, so Matt was kind to take a picture of me and (left) and Steve (right), posing in front of Steve's MB. GREAT SHOW! Great job Steve, Bruce, and everyone who made it possible!
  10. Had the LeSabre in to the shop recently, primarily to diagnose a stalling/idling issue that the car has more or less had the entire time I've been driving it. Was traced to a bad fuel pressure regulator. The car runs SUPER now! What a pleasure to drive! I don't have an exact odo reading to report right now, but we're definitely over 24,000 miles (started out at 20,793), so that's somewhere around maybe 3,500 total miles traveled. And now that the car is running really well, I think I can finally screw up the courage to calculate what kind of mpg's I'm getting (definitely didn't want to "go there" while the car was having those idling/stalling problems). And finally, I don't have it on the car yet, and hence no picture of it yet, but my Edmonton, Alberta-based Buick friend Rob sent along a VERY nice item. Thanks again Rob! Will be posting a picture of it next chance I get! Onward and upward, Steve 2003 Buick LeSabre, Dark Bronzemist Metallic BCA #47004<!-- google_ad_section_end --><!-- google_ad_section_end -->
  11. Nothing like the nice weather allowing you to take an old car out & use it. I've been having fun doing some commuting in my gnarly '69 Bug this past week--here's a couple shots getting gas at the I-95 Southbound West Haven (CT) service area, early Thursday morning (5/30/2013): Sorry Mr. Chromedome snuck into both of those shots, but even Honduh owners have to get gas once in a while too. Bummed me out having to have the top up, but when you're inside the building for 8 hours and it decides to thundershower, it's nice not to come out to a car filled with water like a bathtub...
  12. My father did not see active combat in WWII, but flew many training missions & exercises in the Army Air Corps. My mom's younger brother, who I never met, lost his life in the Battle of the Bulge. He was an automobile and motorcycle enthusiast, and sounded like a great guy. Enduring gratitude to all Veterans, both living and deceased. We were pleased to help pay Memorial Day tribute through attending parades & ceremonies in Branford, CT, and Stony Creek village this past Monday. A couple of pictures from the day appear below:
  13. We drove old cars in the 2013 Branford, CT Memorial Day Parade again this year, and the same pale yellow '69 or so Skylark Convertible showed up (that I caught a couple of quick glimpses of last year--see somewhere around the middle of the previous page of this thread), I believe connected with the Branford Lions Club. I took a couple of pictures of it during a pause in the parade. I talked with the owner a bit, who was a nice guy. It was cool to see it out and about again this year, and it did a nice job transporting its Lions Club volunteers (not to mention sounding great through that righteous dual exhaust system!). 14. Best wishes to your dad, Robert--hope he's feeling better. He sounds like one helluva guy! Steve 2003 Buick LeSabre, Dark Bronzemist Metallic BCA #47004<!-- google_ad_section_end --><!-- google_ad_section_end -->
  15. None of my pictures came out great, but here's one more image from my rushed photo-taking efforts (as I drove along behind in my modern car). It was definitely cool & exciting to see the big old sedan out there cruising right along!
  16. Wow, cool, thanks guys! The car seemed to maintain healthy speed w/o any problem along the roadway. I was only asking, by the way, from curiosity--I don't know the car nor am I trying to track it down or anything like that. Just curious as to what it was that I saw. Thanks again!
  17. Here are an overall and a cropped-down copy of a cool old car I saw yesterday (Sunday afternoon, May 12th, 2013) out on the road. I followed this one on a Southern Connecticut state road for several miles, and only was able to get a partial side view when he finally turned off on a side street. The plate reads “BIG - 8”. Anyone have any idea what kind of car it is? That design in the center of the rear bumper, and also, of course, the hub caps, I am sure are good clues...
  18. From the sublime (^^^) to the ridiculous (?!)... Saw this funky & kool early '70s Skylark Convertible in I-95 traffic around West Haven thru Branford CT yesterday afternoon (Thursday, May 9th, 2013), and managed to snap a couple of pictures with my travel camera (from the driver's seat of my '03 LeSabre)... 19. What do you know, Rob, Mrs. Stock Steve drives a black BMW for a cold-weather driver, and goes positively nuts trying to keep it clean-looking! We can relate! Steve 2003 Buick LeSabre, Dark Bronzemist Metallic BCA #47004<!-- google_ad_section_end -->
  20. Just got my new CT vanity plates a few days ago--a bit of self-deprecating "old man's car" humor: Steve 2003 Buick LeSabre, Dark Bronzemist Metallic BCA #47004<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

  22. I was looking thru some pictures from the 2012 Branford (Connecticut) Memorial Day Parade that I took, which was held Monday, May 28th, and noticed that there was a very nice looking late '60s Buick Skylark that participated (I love that pale yellow color!), I think as part of one of the town's civic/service groups (Elks, Rotary, or one of those types of groups). I got one "action" shot from a far distance (that I took thru the windshield of my '60 VW Bug, that I was also driving in the parade). And then I got one other other quick shot of the rear of the car that I think I shot after the parade ended, and I was driving by where they had apparently parked to disembark some passengers. Looks like a couple of pretty healthy diameter dual exhaust pipes there... I'll have to keep my eyes open to see if this Skylark shows up again for the 2013 Branford Memorial Day Parade, later this month... 23. I'll do my best to uphold your philosophy in return for your gracious gesture, Rob--thank you again! I just checked the odometer on the LeSabre during lunchtime today (Tuesday, April 30th, 2013), and it's now at 22,816, making for 2,023 miles I've driven it so far. Still a few minor issues to work out, but really enjoying and appreciating this car in so many ways. It's funny, I also notice other LeSabres a lot more on the roads now. I compare colors, and decide what looks best. A lot of silver ones out there, it seems, and they look nice. Dark Bronzemist compares well, still, I would say. The all time coolest I've seen so far, though, was, I would say, a bright white (possibly pearlescent?), with chromed alloy wheels. Maybe like this one, which I think was labeled in the google image search as a "Celebration" edition: http://www.smartcarguide.com/listimg/img1_0413/11/img_10242734_00.jpg Anyway, onward and upward... 24. I was very pleased to particiapte at the "Branford Festival Classic Car Cruise" held on the rear town green in Branford, CT this past summer--the exact date was Sunday, June 17th, 2012, and took a bunch of photos there, among them were this superb 1973 Buick GS Stage 1. The owner, who apparently likes to run this beautiful beast at the drag strip, had an action photo and time slip also displayed with the car. I don't know if it's clear enough in the shots, but he also had a cool & appropriate Connecticut "EA" vanity plate (similar vanity plate, it appears, on the drag racing shot, but looks possibly to have been an NJ-issued registration). More info about & photos from the Branford Festival Classic Car Cruise 2012 are at: SAAC: The Branford Festival Classic Car Cruise 2012 Steve 2003 Buick LeSabre, Dark Bronzemist Metallic BCA #47004<!-- google_ad_section_end --><!-- google_ad_section_end --><!-- google_ad_section_end -->

And you know something, there is an old phrase: "What goes around comes around," because I will be pleased to do my best to return the favor--so please also make sure to include your mailing address within the package!
