  1. allsfords2737, Thanks for responding. How long are these and what is the head diameter? Howard Dennis
  2. Thanks Jak, I've emailed them also as I need various lengths. Appreciate the help, Howard Dennis
  3. jpage, thanks a million for responding. I just couldn't justify $1.50 per. Howard Dennis
  4. Anyone know a source of 3/16 or 10-24, 10-32 threaded rivets Other than Restoration Supply? They are just too pricey for me. Howard Dennis
  5. Pete, Just thought of one other possible problem, do you know if your dash is original 1915 configuration or was it converted to a later version as well? Howard Dennis
  6. Good question Pete! Just because I provide these answers doesn't mean I understand them, and anything electrical is my worst subject. Then add in the fact that you need a Patent lawyer to read these documents as well as an engineer. I was able to find P is the starter generator. A is listed as the engine in one sentence but clearly in this illustration it isn't the engine?? Another factor in your case is we are dealing with illustrations of 1914-15 Maxwells that came with magneto's and dry cells and transformer coils and your car has been converted to the later more modern Atwater-Kent Distributor. 7. Pete, See if this helps. https://patents.google.com/patent/US1300970A/en?oq=us+patent+1300970
  8. Talbotracer, Does this help? http://forums.aaca.org/topic/140574-1916-maxwell-ignition-coil/ Howard Dennis
  9. Thanks Spinneyhill, I won't know if there is enough meat or room for a lip seal until I get this apart but thought I'd check on O-ring remedy in case I couldn't use O-ring seal. Howard Dennis
  10. Been dealing with oil leaks on my 1917 Maxwell till I can't stand it anymore !! I'm thinking about pulling engine and doing a complete gasketing rebuild. I've discovered three places that are shaft leaks and would like advice of possible remedies. One is both sides of a 7/8" shaft that goes through the timing case and the other is a similar shaft holding reverse idler gear in the transmission case. Since these originally had no seals I'm wondering about having a machine shop groove the cases for an O-ring but worry about the quality of todays O-ring being able to survive this use. Anyone have any experience with this option and/or other ideas? Howard Dennis
  11. Dave, I was finally able to access the older post but nothing more than what I posted. Howard Dennis http://forums.aaca.org/topic/148340-screw-on-hubcap-sizes/?tab=comments#comment-705543
  12. 30DodgePanel, I tried finding answers like this years ago on this forum but after the last change in the forum I'm unable to access that post and it's findings. Luckily someone on the MTFCA forum saved 2 pictures and they list a few examples listed with your diameter but you need to check your TPI or threads per inch. Hope this helps, Howard Dennis
  13. Been having trouble with oil leaks every since starting my 1917 Maxwell several years ago. Yesterday while fine tuning the engine I noticed that after running engine at high speed I saw oil splatter on the firewall and windshield. It appears to be coming from the shaft the large pulley driving the fan is on. Anyone familiar with the sealing method on this shaft? Howard Dennis

  17. Going to see this cap soon and would like to know what it is beforehand. I'm thinking it might be for an early 1930's Lincoln or a 1932 Ford. Sorry, I only have these poor email photos to go by. To my eye it appears as if it is missing the original bottom and has been drilled for a nut & screw to mount another style bottom? Are Ford Greyhounds a different measurement than Lincoln's? Thanks for any help, Howard Dennis

  19. Since this post started 8 years ago guess I better update where I'm at with my Maxwell. Here's what it looks like now. Howard Dennis
  20. Just won this advertising card online and wanted to add it to this post for future searchers. Other than listings of this model on period contracts this is the only image I've ever seen of a Maxwell Commercial Delivery body. Judging by the prices listed on the touring these are from mid 1916. 23. I have nothing to do with this company but found them very accommodating and willing to give us Maxwell owners a 20% discount! Check here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/577566651/maxwell-motor-co-tee?campaign_label=convo_notifications_redesign_with_listing_button&utm_source=transactional&utm_campaign=convo_notifications_redesign_with_listing_button_010170_369706250109_0_0&utm_medium=email&utm_content=&email_sent=1535920983&euid=p4f9A_egsrlCGSDxngm940-jzDsc&eaid=79645164&x_eaid=8ef3f7125c I asked for the pocket and also the Maxwell shield on the front and they are making it to suit me. They said for others to get the 20% discount use the coupon code: OWNERS Howard Dennis P.S. That's not me but a picture they sent for my approval.
