Yes, I still have it. Pete

So I drove the 200 miles to the annual Chickasha, OK. Pre-War Swap meet on Friday morning. Numbers of vendors and shoppers were down, as usual. No reservations were being taken from vendors for next year, so this is probably the final such event. Very sad. Everybody's getting older and interest in Pre-World War Two cars seems to be slipping. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the meet, made a few good purchases and saw some amazing cars, including a '39 Century with side-mounted spare tires that was for sale for $8500, not running and in need of most everything, but quite complete.

1939 Special 4-dr sedan, rust-free Texas car
Pete Phillips replied to Pete Phillips's topic in Buick - Buy/Sell - Not Mine
Yes, still for sale. Had to raise the price to $12,000 due to more work that we have done to it. Runs and drives very well and could be driven anywhere. -
Replated 1932 Buick wire wheel hubcaps for $15 apiece; new 1940s straight 8 mufflers for $10; a 1949 radiator that looks like new for $25; 1940s Buick carburetors for $5 apiece; complete 1949 parking light/turn signal assemblies for $15 apiece; 5 late 1930s parking light assemblies for $60; 8 1949 Buick stainless gravel guards for $10. Why wasn't this auction better publicized?!! https://live.teelauctions.com/auctions/1-8N3HM0/dave-brady-collection-auto-parts-part-3?page=5&limit=36

Not mine, but close enough to me (90 miles) that I could go get it, store it temporarily, and help someone buy it. Not mine, and don't know anything other than what is in the ad, but I see lots of good parts in this. And it's a fairly rare "slant-back" model. OK, I went to two different web sites, scrolled up and down, and still can't get a photo of the car that's for sale. Note to seller: When you finally get serious about selling it (and you're NOT there yet!), put photos and a complete description with the photos on every forum and website that you've mentioned, including this one. Until then, don't complain about not getting one phone call. You could also send me a photo and an ad for it to go in the Buick Bugle magazine, but only after you get serious about selling it and making it easy for people to find and see. Looks like it had a front end collision. Way more than $300 worth of parts here, though. Not mine. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/392817953359853/?ref=browse_tab&referral_code=marketplace_top_picks&referral_story_type=top_picks

There is a complete set of seats (front and rear), plus an additional set of seatbacks, from a 1951 or '52 Special 4-dr. sedan. Renter moved away and left them. Will not ship--too big and heavy, but will help you load them or might deliver within 200 miles of Leonard, Texas for gas money. The springs are in decent condition, not rusted or broken. Been stored indoors until this week. The upholstery is in need of replacement. FREE--come get them. I hate to take them to the dump, but may have to if no one wants them soon. I'd hate to see one that he says is in bad shape, if he thinks this one is in good shape! And it's NOT a Roadmaster as he claims. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1862085984244120/?ref=browse_tab&referral_code=marketplace_top_picks&referral_story_type=top_picks

This is for sale near me in north central Texas for $1,000. I'm not going to buy it, but my question for the group is, what kind of engine is that, and since when did Hudson ever have overhead valves? The Facebook listing says it is a 1929 Hudson.

I've come upon a collection of 215 aluminum V8 parts and quite a bit of used 1961-1962 Skylark trim and mechanical parts, which are hard to find. Have 4-barrel manifolds, 2-barrel manifolds, exhaust manifolds, carburetors (2&4-barrel) cylinder heads, timing chain covers, dashboard parts, radios, rear quarter windows, air cleaners, and even a chrome rooftop luggage rack for the station wagons. Let me know what you need. Pete Phillips, BCA #7338 Leonard, Texas

My cousin's friend in Pennsylvania has this nice 1962 Skylark convertible for sale. Not mine but looks like a nice, low-mileage car. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1744769165926635/

Sale no longer pending. Potential buyer came to pick it up, saw the '48 Super in the garage that's also for sale, and transferred his deposit to the '48. So, the '39 is still for sale, and we have repaired the brakes, rebuilt the master cylinder and all four wheel cylinders, rebuilt the fuel pump, drained the old gas, and put new gas in it. No longer smokes out the exhaust pipe and runs fine. I think the vacuum diaphragm was faulty and was pulling crankcase oil into the combustion chamber. Price has to go up with all of these improvements, new price is $12,000. Pete Phillips, BCA #7338 -
The owner had this 1957 BelAir completely restored about 10 years ago, body off the frame, every nut and bolt, stack of receipts to prove it. He was a 1955/56/57 Chevy club judge so I'm quite sure everything is correct. Has 283 4-barrel, dual exhausts, power steering, power brakes, PowerGlide automatic, fender skirts, continental kit, Wonderbar radio, twin rear antennas, runs & drives. High quality car, always garaged, has one scratch down low on driver's front fender and into door; $450-500 quote from local body shop to repair and paint that. Located in Bonham, Texas 75418, N.E. of Dallas. $85,000 or very close offer, and you could not restore this car to this quality for that price. Have more photos for those who are seriously interested. Note: The top was not latched down in one or two of these photos, and the glove box door has been reinstalled.

This is a 76-year-old car that is amazingly well preserved. The owner has asked me to sell it for him. 1948 Super, original black paint in excellent condition, no dents, no rust that I can see, original upholstery underneath the seat covers, chrome is not pitted, 3-speed standard shift, 248 cu.in. eight runs and does not smoke; brakes work, 57,000 actual miles. Even the fabric-covered wiring is in good shape! Car has spent many years in California but in Texas now, N.E. of Dallas in Bonham, TX. One tire is old and cracked; the others look much newer. I am going to rebuild the fuel pump and the carburetor and that is included in the price of $15,500. I don't think you will find a nicer, unrestored '48 Super. The missing headlight ring and the missing hub cap were installed after I took some of these photos. Pete Phillips, BCA #7338
