  1. We have three vacancies coming up on the Buick Club of America's Board of Directors, and only two candidates so far. We need one more to fill the Board, and at least two more to have an election. Deadline to enter is this week (Feb. 15, may have to extend that). You have to be a BCA member and attend the upcoming national meet in Ohio where the Board will meet and elect officers, and you have to have an e-mail address because much Board business is conducted that way. To be a candidate, send me a 500-word or less write-up explaining your qualifications and any relevant experience, and your ideas of what you hope to accomplish for the club. I also need a photo, from the shoulders up, to publish in the magazine with your write-up. Three-year term; volunteer position, although the club will pay some of your travel expenses to get to the meet. Pete Phillips, BCA #7338 pphillips922@gmail.com
  2. That is a nice car, and I think it's the first '58 Century 4-dr. sedan that I"ve ever seen. Seems like most of them are two-door hardtops or four-door hardtops. I see a 6-way power seat and I see original upholstery, and I believe the 60,000 miles is probably correct. I see a padded dash with no cracks and a blue steering wheel in very good shape. Here in Texas, both would have bad cracks and the steering wheel would be flaked away down to the steel core. Replate the rear bumper, put a clear plastic seat cover over the front seat, replace the flat tire, and you'll have a very respectable car to drive and show for under $10,000.
  3. 90 is the series number. Price of the car in the original ad is $37,000 and it says the car is sold.
  4. Good luck getting $10,500 for a non-running 1964 Riviera that can only be driven in good weather! Posting this here for curiosity's sake: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/708589337967826/?ref=browse_tab&referral_code=marketplace_top_picks&referral_story_type=top_picks
  5. This is with a bunch of 1953 Skylark parts, but I do not know what it is. "Fresno" label on it refers to the Skylark that the owner bought in Fresno. This thing is covered in grease and is about 3 inches in diameter; has a threaded stud sticking out near the edge, and seems to have several layers of metal inside, like a series of thin clutches. Does anyone know what this is and what it does? Pete Phillips
  6. I see a "V" for a 1953 V8 hood ornament and I think the other part is the heater control that attaches to the bottom of the dashboard on a 1953 Buick.
  7. It starts with the accelerator pedal and runs very, very well. Exhaust smokes a bit, but that may be due to not having been driven for a couple of years at least.
  8. I cleaned up the '39 Buick today and brought it to my shop yesterday. Very solid, good running car, not a speck of rust anywhere that I can see. Going to rebuild the master cylinder and wheel cylinders this week so it will have working brakes. $11,000 is now the price, given the brake work. Fort Worth, Texas car at least since the 1960s. Car has new wiring, new steering wheel, new battery, new exhaust. In Bonham, Texas now and for sale.. Pete Phillips, BCA #7338
  9. Thank you, John. That answers the question. Good information. Pete
  10. I'm writing an article for the Bugle magazine and have come across a 1960 LeSabre with the "375-E" decal on the air cleaner. I know this means it is a regular fuel/low compression version of the engine, but is it a 364 or a 401? Seems like I remember that the 401 was optional in the 1960 LeSabre, and 375 seems to be rather high torque rating for a regular fuel 364. So, is it a 401 or is it a 364? Pete Phillips
  11. Not mine. But a nice looking 1926 coupe, probably a Master series. Looks great in some of the photos, so-so in others. Desirable body style. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/903907254722403/?ref=browse_tab&referral_code=marketplace_top_picks&referral_story_type=top_picks
  12. Well, I went and dug this one out, so if anyone else needs one, I do have this one. 33-1/2 inches long, so it is for the 320 engine.
  13. It's a long day's drive away from me, otherwise I would go see it.
  14. Thank you. She has it priced at half that, and I think she is too low.
  15. Pretty sure that I have one. I will look tomorrow. If you don't hear from me by late tomorrow, send me a reminder. Pete Phillips, BCA #7338 Leonard, TX
  16. I'm helping a woman write an ad for her late father's 1941 Roadmaster convertible sedan. He was a BCA member. She sent me one photo and it looks immaculate. Dark, forest green paint, garaged, she says he was a fanatic about keeping it correct and was his prized possession. I think we have to assume that everything is correct and near-perfect on the car, after speaking with her and seeing the photo. She put a price on it, but before I reveal that, what do you think an immaculate one like this should sell for? It's not a common model so I have not seen them come up for sale recently. I think her price is a little low and I don't want to see her cheated. Pete Phillips
  17. Not a commonly seen Buick. Low miles. Not mine. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1146711709631555/?ref=browse_tab&referral_code=marketplace_top_picks&referral_story_type=top_picks
  18. The '49 Roadmaster sedanet is not available. I bought it, salvaged and removed anything I could from it, and took what was left to a salvage yard in Texas. I still have many of the parts from it, if you need something, but there were not many parts in good condition. Pete Phillips, BCA #7338 Leonard, TX.
  19. Yes, all of the '42 Special convertibles are the A-series Chevrolet bodies. With the twin carbs and the small body, this Buick would probably be a good runner.
  20. Wow, $10,000 in that condition? No top; no upholstery on the seat springs that I can see; not running; yes, it's rare and I have a lot of 1942 parts, but I just can't see $10,000 for this. $4000 or $5000, maybe, on a good day. Pete Phillips, BCA #7338
  21. I need to sell this for the deceased owner's estate: 1939 Special 4-dr. sedan, runs & drives, brakes need work (and price goes up if I get time to fix them), has newly installed wiring harness, new exhaust system from front to rear, new 6-volt battery, newly recast steering wheel; someone redid the upholstery recently but the material & pattern are not correct; good tires, rock solid Texas car, 248 straight eight, located in Midlothian, Texas. $10,000 or close offer.
