Hi Alan and Joy. You two are real early birds. Is there an award for being first or something?
Where do you call home anyway?
Linda and I will be in Wednesday late afternoon, along with Jim and Ellie Wright and Ken and Susan Nichols. Looking forward to meeting you.

I'll be leaving Wednesday, from Albany NY on State Rt 20, at about 10:20 AM.
I'll be following Bill Wright's 38 Special Coupe with my 69 GS. Expect to arrive in Batavia around 5 - 6 PM. This will be a leisurely ride, 50- 55 MPH. Anyone coming this way is welcomed to meet at the Hannaford's Grocery Store on Rt 20/ Carmen Road ( Rt 146) intersection at 10- 10 :20 AM.

I heard ( second hand) that there are 665 Pre- registrations. With drive in's it could easily be 699. It would have been 700 but I know one pre registered car that isn't going.

I love my car, but I would have to tell you that it is kinda uncomfortable.
Mine has few options. Bench seat, no tilt and no power brakes. It's a PIA to get into it. You have to slide across the seat to get your legs under the wheel. Naturally this is impacting the seams on the 35 year old vinyl.
But hey, it's mine and it's jot just 28K on it, and I didn't pay nearly as much as that one is going for on your post.

Check out the second post down under the Me and my Buick forum :

It explains the process very well.

BotB I saw your other post. Just post some pics of the GS. I can get suntan lotion anywhere, but pics of 69 GS 400's? Those ain't a dime a dozen.
Congratulations on the purchase. Lets see what you got.

Hey, post some pics of the car.
Are you looking for the wiper transmission? this is the series of rods that connect the wipers to the motor.

Can't wait for thatsun tan lotion. Hope it gets here before Batavia. Last time I was at that show I got a heck of a sunburn.

You'd better take another close look at that car. It obviously was not two toned blue, anf the paint has no luster, indicating it is repainted. If it is located 1 1/2 hrs away, why not take a ride over and check the the cars VIN number?
Digital camera's can do wonders for droping details of a car. Just take a lower megapixil picture and things look much better than they really are. It is noted the VIN number is not listed in the ad. If you have the vin number, call the police and ask them to check.

Just guessing but do you have the ignition switch wired backwards? Or one of the small wires on the starter solenoid crossing over and touching the battery cable on the solenoid?
-
o- zilch-na da... Oh wait, you probably meant 1969 GS 400 convertible?
Sorry, couldn' resist the offer of free sun tan lotion.

Maybe the polarity on the regulator got reversed when you hooked up the pertronix backwards? I can't find the section on polarizing the voltage regulator but my manual has like 3 pages on failure to start conditions.
One of which has to do with open fields in the generator, which may be happening if the voltage regulator is reversed polarity.
Since your resistor was smoking, I'd be giving the electrical system a once over to make sure you didn't melt any wires that can short out now. especially those to the ignition switch and to the generator.

Hey Ol Yeller, If I was in your shoes I would do the following:
I'd give the owner a range price that was pretty wide, with additional generalized information regarding why the range was so wide. Things like factory options, factory paint upholstery in good condition, model variations and anything else particular to that car like low production numbers or more importantly in this case, high production numbers.
Then I'd suggest that there is sometimes a willing buyer at any price. Someone trying to reclaim their memories from their youth, or purchase a tribute to a lost loved one etc.
Finally I'd suggest advertising at her price just in case that special someone sees the car, with the expectation that if she really wants to sell it, she should drop the price as the driving season ebbs away. Short of that, maybe she should donate it to a grandchild if she really thinks it that valuable. Or to a charitible foundation to auction or raffle off, taking a tax deduction for the amount the car brings in this venue.
I can understand that everyones car is special to them and therefore worthy of the "over the top" dollars. It is a shame though. Think of all the people who'd love to get into the hobby if they could find a car reasonably priced.

Hey E.G.G. Welcome to the board and welcome to 56 Buicks. I have a 56 Super as well. I don't believe you'll find Chevy Parts an easy fit. The Super and Roadmaster are physically bigger cars than the Chevies. Also the rear suspension on the Buick is a torque Ball and Torque tube drive. This means there are no rear trailing arms from the frame to the rear axle. there is not a factory spot to convert to either.
While more modern suspensions have been put under these and other torque tube cars, I would think it is quite a bit of work and involves changing the rear end, drive shaft/ torque tube and the transmission as well along with it's mounts.
Good luck.

I've been watching your thread on the collectible forum. It is exciting watching a car come alive after all those years. How close did I call the price of your battery?

and wrapping up the last of my photos:
This awesome 47 woodie, whose owners name escapes me:
and my personal favorite, Ray Bucks 39 Special:
Inside the museum there was a wide array of cars of which I am only posting two photos here. they were all beautiful cars but I thought you might find these two extremely rare:
Ferrari:
No, your eyes are not decieving you. It is a childs car. Built by Enzo Ferarri's chauffer it sported a 5 hp electric motor and could do speeds up to 8 MPH. The car was a close replica of the real thing, and the Chauffer went on to form a company which produced just 100 of these fiberglass cars.
The other was this 1915 Brewster ( no it's not a new beer):
I found this car interesting because it looks like something right out of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The plackard for this claims the car was sold in 1915 for $8,700 some odd. The chauffers compartment is open touring while the family rode inside the back compartment in NY City. The fenders are made of leather. And the engine was a 6 cylinder monstrosity. Couldn't be more opposite end of the Model T spectrum I don't think.
Anyway it was a small show but a ton of fun. It certainly caused some head turning on the main road behind us and it was a nice venture for our chapter. Thanks to the Museuem for having us that day!

and the 80's were represented too
Jim Barber/ Chris timbers 87 GN:
Plus this 86 Regal T Type , whose owners name I did not get:
But that's not all.
Here's Steve Blacks 72 Electra:

Notice the convertibles.
Dave McConnells 65 LeSabre
And the 50's were represented as well
Paul Richmonds 55
And Jim Taylors 56

Without much ado, here are some pics of the cars:
My own old faithful
Here's Cliff Hays 23 3 passenger 4 cylinder coupe. this was our advertising theme car:
Dick and Ducky Matott were there first I believe. Figure that , they had the farthest to go:
We had a maximum of 15 cars. Not the biggest show but we had some stiff competition from the memorial day weekend and a large established show in Norwich NY
Duane Dodds 72 Skylark:

I would like to meet as many of you as possible. I'll be driving my red 69 GS 400 convertible. You'll know it's me by the two 3/8" holes in the hood smack dab between the scoops, where the original owner thought a Jaguar hood ornament belonged(?!?!?!).
What are you going to bring?

Pull off the coil packs, and clean the terminals. Then pull off the spark control module and clean between the module and the bracket. This worked for me on a 3800 91 car. I know yours is a bit different but I'm thinking no ground. Otherwise timing chain and tensioner.

Keith, That's kinda sad. Not sure I understand that rule's reason.
Oh well.
