  1. I did have one negative experience with Kanter. I recently bought rear springs for my 56 Super, and after installation, I was not happy with them. They were too light for the car and the rear end sagged considerably. I returned the springs, and found out that it cost me $8.00 to do that while I paid $11 to have them shipped to me, and then even though they refunded the cost of the springs, they did not refund the cost of shipping.

  2. Still working on my 56 Super. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> already installed new tranny mount and fuel pump. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> Still need engine mounts and maybe a brake line. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> Had my gas tank repaired and resealed, now the pick-up is leaking, and tried to replace rear springs, but new ones were too weak and had to put the old ones back in.

But hey, It was built to be driven, and that's what I'm plannin to do!

  3. Whew! Now i'm a bit concerned about my Ramada Reservations. I called the Buicktown chapter and they advised that Cars may be parked and left at the Sloan Museum site for the entire meet. There will be security present at all times for the show. There will be shuttle buses to all the hotels. Hopefully this will go smoothly.

  4. I believe that button is on the steering wheel side and if you get a good light under there, you can see it. Small silver, spring loaded. Push in and hold while pulling the light lever out as if putting the headlights on.

  5. Several years ago I had my master cylinder rebuilt by a place in California. It was in Ontario California, but I can't recall the name of the place. Anyhow, they were very good, and the product works great today, which is at least six years after the job was done. I did send them the entire brake unit, booster and cylinder. It took several weeks but that was partially due to shipping etc from NY

  6. I love the 430 motor. My sister gave me her 69 Electra and my son drove the original engine to 199K. Then it started knocking. Before I put a used motor in, a local old time mechanic advised me to use an additive to clean out the carbon buildup from the cylinders. He claimed the Buicks high compression engines always built up carbon and he found many which sounded like bad bearings, would clear up if you could disolve the carbon deposits. I didn't listen, and after changing the motor, we pulled the heads just to look and they were indeed full of carbon deposits. I had read about a process for dribbling kerosene down the carb while slightly racing the engine. Maybe the equivalent of half a soda can( 6 oz). I never tired it, but I should have. It would probably be running today.

  7. Hello all. I'm new to this forum and I just saw the post way back in December by Keith Bleakney BCA# 11475. If you're reading this Keith, I wanted to ask if you had a source of these Electra parts? I have a 69 Electra Limited( 2 door) which is loaded with all the options. I just found a car I want to buy and thought you might be interested in my Electra for a parts car.

The car has tilt wheel with Cruise Control, dual power seats (six way each side)

Power trunk and power door locks. AM/FM Stereo radio, side cornering lights, posi rear, and the 4 wheel disc brakes.

I had the quadrajet rebuilt and the radiator recored. It also has a full new suspension, springs, shocks tie rod ends etc.

The car runs great, but this other car is the car of my dreams, and have to be realistic. I don't have the space for all my toys.

So, if you're interested, I can be reached via e mail at jld1972@empireone.net
