  1. I have seen many automatics where the tires that would be locked in park will rotate once the weight of the car is off the wheels. I don't know why but I have seen that many times.

Thinking about the drive shaft locked in the coupler, I imagine the shaft must have twisted and the splines of the shaft and coupler are now meshed instead of aligned. If you remove the torque ball retainer, can you get something on the universal in front of the coupler and then maybe use a stiltson wrench to try and twist the drive shaft back and forth to realign the splines?

  2. ...As for our side of the country - the Western third. Well we just had the driest winter on record and summer has been long and hot so far. Just a shame we couldn't have spread all that water evenly over Australia.

But we are still having fun with our Buicks, this link will take you to photos of the Western Australian Buick Clubs celebration of Australia Day back on January 26.

Not to detract from the hard hit areas, I just wanted to comment that those pictures remind me of Chicago Illinois. Great pictures of a nice time. And I really like your signature picture too. That car looks so good!

  3. Hate to say this about a Buick but that's not more than a $200.00 car. The A/C is inoperative, and a compressor alone will cost you 170- 300 for a rebuilt one. It looks like the drivers side rear fender is hit or rusted. If you can use it while looking for another that needs some of these parts, then it may be fun. The good news is you can park it in any parking lot and not worry about some JackA_ _ hitting you.

  4. The Buick CLub of America ( BCA) has a database of cars owned by club members. Assuming your model number is 56C, there's two listed in the 2008 Roster. The same document shows there were 5,931 of these cars built, and another 56 of them built and exported. I'd note that the Club is ready to publish a 2011 Roster, which will contain updated information but the Roster is in no way definitive. There are undoubtedly many more of these cars in existance and their owners just are not members of the Buick Club of America. Regardless of how many are in existance your's is still a rare breed and we'd love to see some pictures of it in the Me and My Buick part of this forum database. Welcome to our group and please consider joining the BCA . You'd find a lot of fans here with that car.

  5. I don't know how to make a website, but I am working with someone to build a new website for our Chapter using the godaddy.com website. It's not free and I'm sure there are free webhosts out there, but since we are just learning about this, the godaddy site has been a big help and the cost is not outrageous.

Looking forward to watching this car come together.

  6. Mine are from Mace Motors in Canton, New York. Pretty sure they come up on Google.

    Bernie

Here are two more Buick converts.

These two businesses are on almost the same parallel in NY but probably 100 miles apart. Weird to find two late 40's Converts in the northernmost parts of NYS. They must get three feet of snow per week up there.
