  2. im haveing trouble getting fuel into the tank of my 50 champion it just backs up and goes in slow i need to pull the tank and have it cleaned out but i was wondering if this is normal? thank you jim
  3. ITS really not going to make much difference if you are going to spray it flat. the surface of the paint is disrupted with the flattening base, example; like talc in the black would chalk out. i would use the mat clear if you can afford it. but that said either one will look the same and will be a pain in the butt to keep nice. good luck jim
  4. if you cant find another one and it has issues with small seepage what about block sealant? not the aluminum stuff in the tube but a real sealant? just a thought jim
  5. just thought i would show off new car if the picture works jim

  10. i have one in my studebaker special six 1924, it should have a y pipe with a valve. the flex runs to the heater and out of the heater to the exhaust pipe. ill take pictures if you need them jim
  11. i need all front end parts including control arm bushings, king pin kit, pins on control arms, tie rods all, idler arm, all are worn out. 1950 champion also how about a trans rebuild kit for three speed with overdrive. jim
  12. packard, the new paints are far better than lacquer ever thought of being. the chemical resistance is great. as for centari, it is probably be applied to more vehicles than any other aftermarket paint in history. if it cures properly with hardener it buffs great, unless it is metallic. i prefer urethane for almost everything. just my opinion jim
  13. looking for quarter panel repair panels for 64 442 thanks jim
  14. they make a tool to compress the spring check with mac or snap on jim
  15. no spares but any stain glass person can make the glass jim
  16. I own a body shop. What did the shop have dupont match? my guess was that the owner didnt send the chip to them he called in the wrong number. then the color was never checked to the chip untill after the painter shot the car. i would talk to the owner and explain that your wife dosent care for the color. you shouldnt have to pay for this mistake. he wont like it but he cant be suprized by that response. if you picked red and the car was pink, how could you be at fault? as far as the bill ask for a list of work done for the money. how much are we talking $5000. and up or less. if it were me i would not accept the wrong color period unless he made quite the concession. my 50 cents worth jim
  17. sorry, as for the record it takes as much talant to paint urethane right as anything else. if you give me a tech sheet and the right chemicals i can paint anything from nasty laquer, imron ,enamel, acrylic enamel, rust paint, indusrial coatings, base coat, single stage urethane, and all of them in silver metallic jim
  18. alot of times you will see runs in single stage after they are buffed it is called color float the pigment has moved around and dried differently than the paint that didnt run jim

    Paint Equipment

travis, i sent you a private email with my address to email me. once again ill push the 49.00 dollar hvlp gun from harbor frieght. it is stainless fluid tip copy of a well known german gun. they have always worked well. since we are throwing out opinions on paint companys ill put in my 500.00 dollars worth. if you ask 5 painters which paint to buy you will get at least 5 differnt opinions. as for acme they are gone, ditzler or ppg is a good product now. i use sherwin williams in my body shop and it works great. it kind of depends on a lot of things as to what kind of paint to use. just remember paint has changed completly in the last 5 years its not the same as 20 years ago or 10 years ago. how about some photos of your car jim
  20. most of the stop leaks swell the sealing compounds and slow down the leaks, i have seen them fix a transmission that was slipping but i dont know for how long jim
  21. jack, the comment on the thickness was refering that improper use of either filler will fail. as for the glue it is great for rust repair. you have to prep the metal real well and follow the directions to the letter. CAUTION body filler dosent like some of the glues. you need to make sure you grind off all excess glue off leaving only the glue in the seam around 1/32 wide and some you need to primer. READ THE DIRECTIONS!!!!! it is really great stuff and is really strong and with an application gun just about anyone could repair rusr areas. jim
  22. bob, brass has it fair share of problems with the acid in the flux. I can hammer weld some and metal finish also. the new stuff i work on would not repair with lead its to thin. if you put an inch of lead or an inch of plastic they both will fail. happy holidays jim
  23. if it is lead, a propane torch will melt it. when its soft take a wire brush and work it off. wear goggles and gloves jim
  24. kind of looks like my studebaker grille and roof line its a 24 special six jim
