  1. I come to the forum to talk about cars. I am soooooo tired of listening to people complain about other people, other peoples interests, other peoples cars, etc., etc. In an effort to get things back on track, I propose a new forum for those that would rather complain about things instead of talk about Classic cars on the Classic Car Club Forum. This new forum would be called "Mommy" and it would be the place for all this whining and crying. We could have such topics as: He's picking on me. He's picking on my car. My car is better than your car. My car is bigger than your car. If you don't like my rules, I'll take my marbles and go home. I don't like your rules, so I'll take my marbles and go home. All the other crap that constantly interferes with real discussion about Classic cars that goes on and on, ad nauseum. With this new forum, when someone posts this childish stuff, we could tell them to go tell Mommy. Stutz at Pikes Peak

Harold, The car was driven by "Wild" Bill Bentrup. There is a picture of it on my website. http://home.pacbell.net/pughs/ Steve Pugh
  4. Robert, Thank you. I need fenders for a 633 victoria coupe and have found a person who has the 526 fenders but he is 1500 miles away so I can't easily go look. Now I can proceed with more confidence. Steve
  5. Update. I bought some galvanized 1 inch flex hose form McMaster-Carr. They didn't have any stainless close enough to the correct size. The 1 inch galvanized was too big and didn't look like the original, it was very smooth like a flat wound guitar string. I found another supplier, Able Metal Hose in Addison Illinois, that had a 13/16 inside diameter hose that had an outside diameter of .96 inch. It fit perfectly without any modification at all. It was stainless, half the price of McMaster-Carr and it looks just like the original. Steve Pugh pughs@pacbell.net
  6. Does anyone know if 1928 Packard 526 Victoria Coupe (Body Style 307) rear fenders and the same as 1929 Packard 633 Victoria Coupe (Body Style 337) rear fenders? Thank you. Steve Pugh pughs@pacbell.net

  9. You may already know him, but Tom Lieb at Scat Enterprises in Redondo Beach, California has several Wills St. Claires and is very knowledgeable about them. Steve Pugh
  10. Why complain about any of it? It's all a gift. I don't understand why you guys don't just enjoy it without all the whining and crying.

  12. Does anyone have or has anyone even seen Stutz part number 21339, an "intake Heater Exhaust Muffler"? This is a small muffler of some kind that goes on the secondary exhaust system that comes out of the intake manifold heat riser. Thanks. Steve Pugh pughs@pacbell.net
  13. Brian, Thank you. I will call them. Steve Pugh
  14. Does anyone know of a source for one inch flexible (preferably stainless) exhaust tubing for the Stutz Series AA intake manifold heater? Thanks. Steve Pugh pughs@pacbell.net
  15. If I don't get it moved in time for Hershey this year, there is always next year. With the choice being between cheap or fast, I'll have to take cheap.

    1928 aa

If this is the car auctioned in Ohio with Serial number AA5-80781 or there abouts, it is a fairly early 1926 AA. From the pictures I saw of it, it seemed pretty straight. I noticed in the pictures that it had the wrong shock absorbers and a modified brake system, as well as the incorrect taillight that you mention. Can you tell me if it has a FEDCO plate to the left of the steering wheel on the dash or not. This car is probably before they started using it, but would like to pin it down if possible. Thanks. If you email me a list of what you need, I will see if I have anything. I don't have a spare taillight right now. I may have some distributor castings made next spring, since many people seem to need them.
  17. I have a small antique trailer that I need to move from Vermont to the Hershey meet. If anyone is going that way and can do it at reasonable cost, please contact me at pughs@pacbell.net. The trailer is approximately 5 feet wide and 7 feet long. It is similar to a Mullins trailer. I have never actually seen it, only pictures. The tires may be flat. Thanks. Steve Pugh

  19. Actually, when you think about, the cars up to 1948 ARE the post-1942 cars to those originally selected by the CCCA, much as the pre-1925 cars are to the 1925 cars. The 1946-48 designs were suppose to be continuations of the 1942 model year that was cut short by the war. If you accept that proposition then post-1948 cars would actually be post-post-1942 cars. 20. I have been a regular viewer of the forum for some time now. I follow the discussions closely but seldom post unless I believe what I am saying contributes to the thread. I know how difficult it is to say "No" sometimes, but progress on my cars has improved significantly since I started saying it.
  21. Buicksplus, I regularly see you campaigning for later cars to be added to CCCA list of Approved Classics. I heartily disagree with your position for a number of reasons. My reasoning is based on the fact that I am only interested in cars from the twenties and early thirties. With this in mind, please note: In clubs that have a wide range of years accepted, the focus gravitates to the later models. For instance, look at the Packard Club. Their website discussion forum subject base is made up mostly of questions about cars from the fifties and forties. The balance is mostly late thirties. There is seldom any real discussion of twenties subjects. There is not much of a common frame of reference between earlier and later cars, so that it is often difficult to have in-depth discussions with owners of fifties cars as to the challenges of owning a twenties car. The technology of the post-war cars is significantly different than that of twenties cars. Parts sources and availability are significantly different. There are many clubs that accept later cars. The AACA only requires that a car be 25 years old. The one marque clubs will take anything with their brand name on it. Why do we need to dilute the CCCA? I believe you have sited membership growth as a factor. Is this like a health club, where they try to sign up as many members as possible just to get the money, knowing that most are really not that interested and won't make use of the membership? The Stutz and Marmon clubs probably don't have 500 members between them, yet are excellent clubs that produce wonderful events and significantly contribute to the maintenance of the history and technological information of and about their automobiles.
  22. Yesterday, the message asking that posts be limited to discussions about Full Classics appeared on the club titles. I liked it being there where you couldn't help but read it before posting an inappropriate subject
  23. I am looking for a windshield for a 1927 Stutz. It's easy to spot, because it has wires imbedded in the glass running horizontally every two inches or so. email me at pughs@pacbell.net.
  24. Does anyone know where I can buy a can of black top dressing. This is the black paint/sealer used on the cloth insert in the roof of prewar closed cars. I have tried Hirsch and several early Ford parts places to no avail. Please email me at pughs@pacbell.net. Thanks.
