  1. Have to bring this back to top again. I took the car out for a drive the other day and had alot of ticking. So I figured it was time to adjust the valves since I installed new valves and springs last July '03. Well would you know it I have two valves with broken springs again. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> These valves have dual springs. My question is can I just pull out the broken springs and run it on one spring or do i need the dual spring setup?
  2. My stepfather lives in Sarasota. Talked to him on phone last night. He has been out of power since Sunday Night. Strange thing across the street they have power. Go figure.

    '31 Tire Wear

Was looking in the owners and shop manual for alignment specs. It states that the measurement should be no greater the 1/8" toe-in. Measuring from the fellos (sp?) and centerline of tire. This may sound like a dumb question but what is the fellos (sp)? I did try a month back or so to get the tie rod/ball socket loose with no success. Looks like I need to invest in a torch and a pickel fork. Wanted to add that the tires are Martins (sp). Anyone hear or have a set of them?

    '31 Tire Wear

Correct Myself <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />. It is the right front tire (Passanger Side) <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> Update: Right front tire Pressure is 35 Left front was 38 brougt it down to 35. Onwers manual states it should be 40. Should I have them up at 40?
  5. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">long awaited GTO article</div></div> Enlighten me on this? Is about the new GTO (where was Pontiacs head when they came up with this new one) or is the article about the true old GTO's?

    '31 Tire Wear

PackardV8, Yes they are mechanical Brake adjusted properly. I checked the tire pressure and inflated them per the manual. Don't recall off hand what the PSI is. I will rotate it with one the back ones and see what happens. I will post on outcome. Thanks

    '31 Tire Wear

The left front tire is wearing faster then the rest. The wear is more in the middle of tire. What would be the causing this tire to wear faster? Car does pull to the right some when hands are off steering wheel. Could this be the cause?
  8. jd26pack, Did you Try Egge? I got my valves for my '31 from them. Not cheap thou.
  9. Man you all must live on farms to build such big garages. My new add on garage was only 14'x22' that is the outside dimensions. So after you subtract the brick, wall thickness it left me with roughly 13'x21'. Well at least old Bessie is here now instead of having to pick her up then drive her back to storage place after working on her.
  10. bkazmer, Here I'am a Piping Designer that uses CAD. Duh!!!! Never thought of that. Thanks for turning on my light bulb.
  11. The numbers on my odometer are starting to crumble. I have searched hobby/craft stores with no luck. Anyone out there know of a place that sells the Stick-on Numbers for the Odometer? Thanks

  13. I have posted this once before. Here is a clip of setting the generator. Generator Settings Guess I somewhat answered my own q's with this.
  14. Pierce66 You asked Were the field coils re-wound ? YES Armature re-wound ? Yes I will have to get out to an electronic store and pickup a voltmeter so I can chek the voltage. Thanks for the feedback.
  15. Picked up generator on Saturday and reinstalled it. Fired up old Bessie and she is charging once again. I had to make some adjustments to the charging rate because the amp meter was reading around 30 amps. I turned it down to about 10 amps at cruising speed of 40 mph. According to the manual it should be 18 amps at 1300 rpms, 12 amps at 4000 rpms. Should I bump it up to what the manual states or shall I leave well enough alone?
  16. Thanks Wayne The pictures on his site are working now. Wish my car was in that great of shape.
  17. Shawn, The pictures on your site came up with red x's on my end.
  18. Shawn, Are your artillery wheels painted or stained? I have them on my car including the sidemounts. I get allot comments on them. Are they real wood, etc?
  19. Congrats on the new girl. Have any pictures. 30,000 original miles from factory? They sure put allot of miles on for the test drive. Now I am just kidding. I have been told in the past that original in not the correct term for calling out the ACTUAL miles on the car.
  20. Went to show yesterday and was not too impressed with it. I Guess I was expecting more after paying $8 to get in (or I may just be a cheapo). The Antique Hoosier Car show at the Blueberry Fest in Plymouth Indiana is only $2 has a lot more cars and also has a swap meet.
  21. Mikes56, I was curious myself since I am having my 6v positive ground generator rebuilt and read when you pull the generator out for service it needs to be re-polarized. I won't need to do it because the shop told me he would re-polarize it for me. Here is one site I found POLARIZING YOUR GENERATOR They only question I have is that it doesn't say if the generator is wired back up.
  22. Pierce66, Thanks for the information. I don't do much driving at night so I have no need of setting the charging rate any higher then what the manual states.
  23. JT, I just called the shop and they are changing the relay over with a one-way diode. Does this mean it is electronic? Pierce, I am leaving the third brush the way it is for now. Don't want to cause any more Headaches with this.
