  1. I guess a few of the cars were going to caravan over to the Hershey show on Saturday and back, then all will tour to the museum as you said on Monday.
  2. We will go by on Saturday as we head east for the Hangover. Was going to the show too until it got cancelled. Actually will be interesting, never seen the HERCO site without Hershey!
  3. Ed and all- The last time I talked to Frank about a year and a half ago he said his son was starting to help him and learn the business/ skills. I really hope Frank is doing well and his son is continuing his craft. What he knows and does is amazing.
  4. Thank you mikefit but I don't get any of the Studebaker magazines. I have made up nutplates I am fiberglassing in place for a fix. I got the sheetmetal part to replace the front seat front screws but after seeing it I will not use it. Too tall, would look funny with such a square corner form and probably make the seat sit higher at the front edge. Bill
  5. I agree with Frank Casey, he has stitched two heads for me and the results have been great. Both were cracks in the compression dome of a cylinder, have held up well. Always like visiting him too, nice guy to talk to.
  6. I need some guidance here please. On my 1963 Avanti some threaded fasteners were molded in place for fastening down seats, front and rear. They have ripped out leaving oversize holes with no underside access. Are there large flange nuts or something similar I can bond in place from the top? Or another idea is to weld some nuts to a small metal patch I could bond to the fiberglass? What would be a good adhesive for this with 60 YO glass that is probably slightly brittle? Any other ideas are appreciated. I would think the Corvette restorers have come up against this problem too. Thanks!

  9. These are the only photos I could find of us in the car. It was my father in law's 1930 Chevy with my MIL driving us, my older stepson with her in front. The date was 8-11-84 and it was very hot and humid day and I soaked my tux! I lost Linda in 2015 just short of 31 years so it was good memories to dig out the album and these pictures. For those who remember my father in law was John Cole from Cole's Ignition, did a LOT of T wires. I met Linda at a car show in 1982 so cars were always a centerpiece of our life!
  10. I also got this box of these Blue Crown Exciter plugs. They have dual ground electrodes but I like the box graphics. They go from inside the top flap down the back of the box to the inside, wonder if any mechanics even saw that? The size is 82SX, don't know the application.
  11. Rockettraider, I too assumed they were Western Auto but I just went and looked again There is no WA reference on the packaging. Wayne- Would the ring of small hole in the cap just above the porcelain be part of the gap you talk about? I can't see in there. They are probably 10mm, eyeball measure with a ruler is about 3/8", 10mm = .400
  12. I just got some of these interesting spark plugs in a box lot. They are a Wizard L1320, not too rare apparently. I was just wondering the application with the tiny thread on them? Or was an adapter used? Sounds like another snake oil product for tired engines from the description on the packaging! Thank you, Bill

  14. So I went and looked up the serial number for my car It is 312738. Is there a list that tells me the production date or era?
  15. Bloo, I have one more shot of the touring with a detail I do not understand. I cannot see it in the picture of your car from the angle, I also notice you do not have a tool box like the literature. What is the feature on the splash apron behind the box and in front of the rear fender? Grease fitting access for the spring shackle? It is not on the roadster, either in the literature or on the car.
  16. Now here is the same catalogue info for my roadster. Differences from car topics are a few. Prestolite tank is on passenger running board which I think s artistic license. Would be difficult to enter car over the tank and it is the only door. The top straps come to hooks on the firewall like the touring but my car has and never had these hooks. As an original HPOF car the hooks are down by the headlamps and the original straps (part of the all original top) are correspondingly long.
  17. Bloo- Actually as I look more and more closely the body lines are different too. My cowl area from the hood to the windshield is very different, longer, different slope, more curvature beneath the windshield. Also my rear fender is more swooped, almost symmetric to the front fender curve. Yours looks to wrap around the rear wheel more tightly and come into the running board more abruptly. My windshield folds flat to the hood also, very sporty in the day. Here are pages from an original sales catalogue for your touring, lots of other info in this catalogue. Your car looks very original except for those radiator corners.
  18. Back in the late sixties when I was a child we moved to the Palm Beach Fl area. We took my grandmother's '55 Studebaker President as a second car and drove it to church one Sunday as usual. When we came out it was totally dead and of course my father had no idea what was wrong. After a mechanic had it for a day or two he told my father it was a common thing. The salt air air had cause corrosion in the electrical connections and all he did was clean some of them up, not sure which ones though. Don't know why I always remembered this, interesting to a boy I guess.

  20. When my grandchildren were little they always had to in "grandpa's yellow ice cream car", my '31 A cabriolet in brown and yellow. Soooo- I just had to get 3 or 4 or 5 in and go for the ride first and end with ice cream! A treasured memory now with them all grown up and some away. As a veteran tour planner and tourist there are many tours that include (sometimes require?) a planned daily ice cream stop so the big kids can get their fix. Never underestimate the power of the cone!! 🍦 = 😊
  21. Pat, thank you for the kind words. I enjoyed working with you on that meet for you, the club and for AACA. I will say that being field marshal for the GNM at Sonnenberg in the early nineties was more interesting since we had the meet on the grounds rather than a parking lot. Figuring out parking around trees, landscaping and holes was more challenging than straight rows. And I guess now I would rather organize tours.... Hope your dad is feeling OK and sorry to read of your breakdown. I know how much you like to show your trucks!! Regards, Bill

It is interesting that Bloo's touring has brass headlights and cowls (my car is all nickel), split windshield, top ties down to the firewall (mine goes to hooks under headlights) and the radiator has the squared in corners at the top. Something looks different about the crank handle too but I can't tell fully from the pictures.

  25. Saw this nice little bug in a local parking lot today. Registration sticker said it is a 1973 but I have never seen a Karmann edition before, good looking car with those wheels. I think this is the same as company as a Karmann Ghia VW? Anyone know anything about this car? Thanks, Bill
