  1. Pair of lever shock-absorbers,fit 37-38 Buick,Olds or Pontiac..(Buick 80 & 90 series excluded). Rebuilt,very smooth acting,do not seep.Half catalogue price.
  2. I think you would like Bob's for repro parts, and Wheatbelt for good used items
  3. The 54 "264"had a Special high angle stator in the Dynaflow. Is it possible someone put a low-angle stator in it ? I would also check for exhaust restriction
  4. If you need bearings, contact "Olcar"(ads in various publications)
  5. I may still have my 56 product school book, and dont need it.I will check/
  6. Check the HP @ the RPM on both engines !
  7. I have a NOS one in my COLD garage. It should warm up in a few days, and I will get it out.
  8. Mine was the first style, and you had to turn it a half-turn,remove the handle etc etc.I dont remember what happened to it.Had I gotten the one with the hinged handle,I probably would have kept it. Ralph Crisp BCA 2399
  9. In 1947,GM had an essay contest called "My Job".Each employee was expected to participate.I dutifully submitted my entry and was awarded a "Saginaw Recirculating-Ball Bumper Jack". It had a removable handle that simply sat on a peg at the top of the jack.It worked very well. Shortly thereafter,an improved version was available with a hinged handle which worked better in case rhe bumper was real close to the body of the car.
  10. Would surely like to see a picture of a 340 "Nail-Head".
  11. I held schools around the Midwest anouncing the"New 49 Buicks" The 49 Super I used had a low-profile deck-lid. A short time later they came out with the newer deck-lid. The very first 48's had a rubber grommet around the steering column just below the speedometer, but shortly they put a chrome moulding there to replace it.A few early 49 248 engines (in synchro-mesh cars) were actually left-over 48 engines, even having black decals on the rocker-cover.When these engines were used up,the 248 engines had the red lettering on the rocker cover and wege equipped with insert rod-bearings and hydraulic valve lifters.I can qualify being an "Expert?" at least partially. The total definition of expert,-- An Ex is a "Has-been",and a Spurt is a "Drip under pressure" I am no longer under pressure.
  12. How about $50 each(plus shipping) for the 61-63's complete with valves ?
  13. In 1940,I used to hear, "Pepsi -Cola hits the spot, twelve full ounces thats a lot, twice as much for a nickel too,you know Pepsi is the drink for you"!
  14. Several aluminum heads for 61-63,also several for 64 "300" engine.
  15. When I worked in a Buick dealership in 1941,a Special convertible came in.I seemed to remember it had 15" wheels.I looked up in my parts book, here goes---Full-size 41 Specials have 16'wheels(16x5.5) "A" body(Short wheel-base)Specials have 15x5.5 wheels.(Centuries in 1941 used 15x7.0 wheels) You can usually distinguish 1941 wheels from post-war wheels in that 1941 wheels have three hub-cap clips.
  16. I have removed many, just the right socket, extension, and an 18 inch breaker-bar ,and off they come.I still have a rebuilt pair left over (Didn't need them on my low-miles '41) Will sell them to someone for half current catalogue price !
  17. I once had a breakdown of the ingredients in most of the additives on the market.I think if you were ever to sue one of these suppliers, they would prove there is nothing in them that could harm your engine. It works VERY well in the old Rolls-Royce with exposed valve mechanism
  18. I had a friend with electronic ignition on his antique car and it failed. ( Expensive tow ) Lots of my friends have points and condenser, and there always those around with spares and they are easily understood.
  19. It is a very good engine. It has the same bearings and C/shaft as a 322
  20. Find a Buick with the same wheel- bolt pattern that does not 'SHIMMY" Borrow his front wheels and give it a try.Sounds tike tire problem, (balance,out-of-round or both). If you were to try radials, you might want to go that route.I remember wnen I drove a 49 Roadmaster,I could feel those bias-ply tires when I slowed down to a little over 60 MPH.
  21. A fellow Buick employee produced the "Dynalite" in Des Moines,Iowa. They were common in the early 50's.I had one and a friend in Altus,Oklahoma wanted it for his 52Roadmaster Wagon,They are around, you might contact Wheatbelt or Steve Ehrlick for a used one ,

    Valve Cage

My 1923 Buick had caged valves. You could take a large spanner and out came valve, seat spring and all. You could grind the valves without draining the coolant.Neat!
