  1. Most of the kits now available you remove the stock Schrader valve and the valve is in the adapter, It allows fo much faster filling so removal of the adapter is not possible without discarging. Also Federal law requires a sticker under the hood noting the conversion. You could remove the blue dust cover that would be about it.
  2. Is there a deduction for an older car converted to R134A Since R12 is getting almost impossible to get?
  3. We got our today in southern Indiana 6/1/2006
  4. This is a large suspension nut and a drag link coupler off the the side it was very rusted note you can still see the pits.
  5. Here are some bolts these are off of a 1917 Dort that sat outside for years and were very rusty. these were tumbled over a years ago, First with Eastwood's Green pyramids them with Eastwood's Dryshine
  6. The water makes it cut rust faster, I think it is like wet sanding keeps the grit on the pyramids exposed. The motor went out on my Eastwood when I traced the motor the tumbler was made by a Re-loader Company, Eastwood just put there name on it. I could post some pictures of what stuff looks like when it comes out if you want. Just let me know.
  7. I use them all the time I have 2 of them, A expensive wet one from Eastwood. and a cheap dry one from Harbor Freight. If the bolts or stuff are dirty and greasy the wet is the only way to go. I put a pump on mine and recirculate the wet cleaner. I use green pyramids and Dryshine I use to you a rock drum tumbler, but the vibrator tumblers work a lot faster.
  8. What about black tires on a pre 1918?
  9. White rubber tires. What is AACA stand on white tires on early cars. I is my understanding that tire manufactures didn?t start putting carbon in tires till 1918. So all tires before 18 were white or gray or red but not black. When AACA set up most judging rule white tires were not being reproduced. They are now but in limited sizes. I have looked at the judging manual and do not see the issue of white tires addressed. What is the official stand on early tires. If a pre 1918 car doesn?t have white tires is it a deduction Does the owner have to document white tires in his size are not avalible?
  10. From what I have been told. Detergent oil is design to keep the dirt suspended in the oil so it can be filtered out. So with that as a rule, If you has an oil filter use detergent oil. If It doesn't have an oil filter do not use detergent oil. the other info I have been told. is, if it is and old engine and you don't know what it looks like inside DO NOT use detergent oil. If it has been overhauled and you know it is clean inside, you can use either. I know when I pulled my 1916 Elgin apart there was and good inch of dirt in the bottom of the pan, I guess that is where it is supposed to go when you use non detergent oil. If I would have used detergent oil, it could have stirred up all the dirt and splashed it though out the engine.
  11. Can anyone tell me the overall width and overall length of a 1930 model A coupe. I want it's widest point and longest point not track or wheelbase. I also need the height.
  12. American car spotter guide shows a Special Wagon ((post) as well as a Century wagon (hardtop) but here is a note that says "All with new 364 CID Engine (cont'd in Special and Lesabre models through 1961) Standard catalog of old cars shows the Special with a 364ci 250hp shows the Century with a 364ci 300 HP, Super used the Century engine
  13. I seen a Porsche with "YDOC" It belonged to gynecologist.
  14. My mind isn't what it used to be I guess I couldn't remember the number. the correct number is 5z323
  15. I'll have to look at it again maybe i misread or forgot it before I posed.
  16. The number on the took is 5Z322 and something that looks like a horizontal diamond. Overall width is 2 /14 inches, max gear widths is 1 1/2 inch gap on the puller is 3/4 inch. So I think you guy's are on the right track. I figured it was a puller part of a flaring tool.
  17. Not sure we had a Packard, If you referring to the classic on our tour it is a 32 Auburn, it tour the whole 100 plus miles. (Senior Grand National Winner) (ACD National winner). The twin carb (Blue Flame) Six was either the White 54 Corvette or the Red 55 Corvette. The blower was on a 68 Camaro just stored at one of the garages. The tour are always fun, other clubs should consider a garage tours. Now it is over and my garage is the cleanest it has ever been. Everybody commented my garage is so clean and organized, They should have seen it a month ago. Reggie even skipped lunch to finish cleaning his garage.
  18. We held our spring fling this weekend, 40% chance of severe thunderstorms and being the day before Easter hurt our crowd. but we still had a good time. We had about 30 in attendance, still a good attendance for our small region. Only Car problem we had was a 1955 Studebaker kept vapor locking. We just loaded to passengers in to another vehicle and left it at the restaurant all day and picked it up for the back trip home. The weather held off and we had a beautiful day. 20. It has numbers on the other side I'll look tonight. Too small for terminal puller.
  21. This weekend is one of our region most popular events. It is called our ?Spring Fling?. It started with all of us get our cars out and toured to different members houses/garages with a progressive meal. Looking at the garages, tools and current projects as well as the member?s car collection, if they have one. Finally we figured out it was the garages we were all going for, so now most refer to it as our ?Garage Tour? eating at a restaurants and having snacks and game at members garages. The way it has been going we hit member?s garages about every 3-5 years. The good part about your garage being on the tour is your garage gets that much needed total cleaning you have been going to get around to for years. This year we are touring the Garages of Vincennes IN including mine. The tour will start in Boonville IN and travel back roads the 50+ miles to Vincennes. Then the rest of the tour will be 2-3 mile trips between garages. We will have trailer parking available in Vincennes for the guys with really old cars who can?t safely travel over 20 mph. they can trailer the long haul and tour the short stuff. We are a small region but usually have a 90% attendance rate on the ?Garage Tours?. Not sure how the attendance will be this year being the day before Easter If your region doesn?t have something like this, you might want to look in to it, it is the one of the highlights of our region?s calendar. Next week I will post photos of the tour on our region?s web site along with our other events. http://beaver.vinu.edu/lover.HTM Here are some photos of some of our past Spring Flings. http://beaver.vinu.edu/04-27-2002%20AACA%20spring%20Fling/index.html http://beaver.vinu.edu/AACA-03s-pringfling/index.html
  22. I am still looking for and Early Maxwell Project Car. Prefer 1907 runabout/tourabout or similar. I would prefer barn fresh or older restoration of a correct car. Will consider anything , priced accordingly. Preferably with in 300 miles of Southern Indiana.
  23. All the adjustable ones I found only went down to 5-7. I always used an in line regulator set at 0. All 6 volts are getting hard to find, the last one I got I got at at Farm Store.(TSC) At the current Parts Stores, if you don't know what it came on they have no clue how to find it. When you ask for an 6 colt electric fuel pump they reply What year? what Make?, what model? Does it have Air conditioning?
