1. I have used Craftsman for years on my old cars however I do not use them all that hard such as a mechanic would use everyday. I am on my 3rd ratchet in about 7 years. The wrenches have held up. The jacks and floor jack mentioned above are made in China. I would not trust them!
2. My cross over Y pipe fit perfect but after running my car with the new exhaust for a short while I noticed it was down on power. This winter I removed the pipe and noticed that at the y the pipe inside was only the size of a dime. After using a burr grinder for a couple of hours I opened the pipe up and the car ran much better however I think I burnt a exhaust valve in the process.

4. I ordered a crossover y pipe for my Pontiac and it fit perfect however after driving the car on and off for a year I noticed that it did not have the power it used to have. I removed the pipe this winter and discovered that when they welded the pipes together the inside at the y was only the size of a dime which was restricting the exhaust. I used a burr grinder with a extenison and after a few hours had the pipe open. The car runs much better however I think I may have burnt a exhaust valve.
5. I have a 55 Pontiac with a oil bath air cleaner which is made out of wire mesh inside. Have always kept it clean and used 50 weight oil with no problems.
6. Passport does a good job as I have used them in the past. They were a week late getting the car back but the big difference is there was no worry.
7. I missed the Punta Gorda meet because I had my Pontiac in the Amelia Island Concours this year. We also took a 26 Alfa to the show. It was a great meet for a good cause and met a lot of good people during the 3 days. Even had the chance to meet Junior Johnson and my friends daughter that went with us shared a elevator with David Letterman.
The most fun was going out to the rigs the day before and talking to the owners and checking out the cars. Much better than on show day.
Our cars did not win any awards however My Classic Car was shooting the Concours and they picked 4 cars of which one was my Pontiac to do a future show.
If you ever have the chance to make the Concours you will be glad you did.
8. Most car people know who the AACA is but the ad could have went into more detail. Running advertisments in car magazines cost a fair amount of money, but it is money well spent. I think the ad only ran one time?
On another note the POCI has a 5x7 post card that has information on the club with pictures of various cars that is a nice hand out to promote new members at local shows, etc. These post cards cost .20 cents each and may be a avenue for the AACA to get the word out.
9. I saw the ad in Old Cars's and it seemed very well thought out. I am not sure of the date but it was the most recent issue. If this ad were to run in other various major magazines and club magazines (POCI, BCA, etc.) it should help get the word out not only about the new class but also the AACA.
10. I had all my bolts, washer jar bracket, hood hinges, etc plated a few years ago from a place in Harrisburg PA Charles D Snyder & Son 717-234-7047. I was happy with the work and the whole order was around $150.00 and it took around 2 weeks to do all the plating. They do two different shades of silver. The best part is when I work on the car I do not have to worry about chewing the paint off the bolts with a wrench.
11. I to enjoyed meeting everyone and I think the head count was 20 that Ron Barn took plus a few that came in very late. My first Annual Meeting and will not be the last. It is only 1 1/2 hours from my front door.
12. I hired PJ Bear from Lancaster PA to take my car to a national show 7 hours away and paid him months ahead for his services. He then canceled on me a week before the show.
At that time I had to find someone quick and dependable of which I called Passport Transport who had to fit me in. They did a good job overall with the tight pick up and delievery schedule that I had and kept in phone contact at all times.
My car was a few days late getting back because they had to deliever Charlies Bronson's Dusenberg to his home but at my house they were kind enough to show me the Cunningham Speedster that was on board with my car. I would use them again and there prices are close to everyone eleses. No worry!
13. The new stadium project is running behind schedule by a fair amount including the site work. Our company is somewhat involved in this project and this information was relayed to me on 01/31/01.
14. A guy walked by my 55 green and yellow Pontiac a few years back at a local show and told me my car looked like a squash. It stuck so it is now called "the squash".
15. I too saw the ad in Old Car's. It is probably in reference to the new muscle car classes. There was a thread some time ago on this subject. I do not believe it is the send in the clones thread.
16. Another good source but very slow is the library for the Pontiac Oakland Club International (POCI) www.poci.org . I have used them in the past with good results.

You can find a cloth like wrap at most auto stores that sell performance parts or accessories. This wrap is used for high performance exhaust headers and may do the trick? You may want to make a shield that fits under your carb which will protect the heat from boiling the gas.
18. I bought a 1960 Ford Fairlane six banger with a 3 speed on the column for $95.00 when I was 16 that my dad told me not to buy. I had my mother sign for it and drove it home where it broke down. As my father has said many times "I told you so".
19. Check the spark plugs. They should tell you how the fuel mixture is adjusted.
20. I to got the sorry you did not win letter but consider it a honor just to be nominated. It is amazing how many nice cars are shown that are near perfect. Next year may be my turn? My car did get a invitation to the Amelia Island Concour's for March of this year so I will do my best to make the AACA proud! Anybody know anything about this show?
21. Old Car's Weekly list a Steve's Auto Restorations that resilver headlight reflectors. He has been advertising for years in the magazine. Phone # 503-665-2222.
22. Sorry, I wanted to post the above under the museum endowment discussion.
23. For everyones information I just read a article in Old Car's Weekly or Cars & Parts that said the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green was having money problems due to the fact there are no major sponsors and the revenue from the sale of tickets is not enough to pay the expenses. Their museum cost 11 millon to build back in the early 90's and they have no endowment to keep in running. They are in search of a major sponsor to bail it out and keep it going.
24. If you are in such demand why do you need to advertise!!!
25. I had my windshield polished at a local glass shop that also installed windshields and they only charged me $25.00. It turned out great. They have the right tools and compounds and for a few extra dollars will even come to your shop.
