Wow, I LOVE the color on this car.
-
Nice! Definitely worth saving. Could make a great driver with about $5k and some elbow grease.

Terrible interior/exterior color combination; that alone would be a deal killer for me. Otherwise, it looks great!

Quite a cache of pictures!

Isn't the circled line the antenna? The other line appears to be the speedometer
Yes! Sorry, I drew my circle wrong! My brain is on too many other things these days (not drugs though).

Hello,
This car did not have speedometer cable on it when when I got it. Was this ran thru the firewall or the driver side kick panel? Pics would be very helpful if any.
Thanks,
Richie
Kick panel, way up front

Wow, the market is only getting softer too...

Just lubricate the leather seal and the inside of the booster with trans fluid

I have loaded and unloaded several Dynaflows with just 2 guys, so it's doable.

If it helps, the trunk pan well is same on all 57 Buicks. Only the sheetmetal between the well and the outer panels, including the wheel well, is different between large and small series.
-
Holy smokes! Great job!

Looks like a great original car! I feel your pain with the fuel pumps. After swapping rebuilt ones in and out about 3 times this spring I put an NOS one in and it's doing great.

I think that may be a big series or Roadmaster only thing?
They are definitely on small series. I took them off the Special 2 dr. Sedan parts car I had and sent them to Jim Pickard for his wagon. I wanted them for the convertible but they weren't the same of course.

Looking great! One observation/question - do you have the painted baffles that screw on under the trunk lid that tuck under the top of the bumper? You'll want to put those on before the bumper.

With 57k miles, and a clean as that frame looks, I wouldn't do much. Very likely your rear end is just fine. However, it's probably a good idea to replace your gear oil thecrearc end.
The only thing I'd do regarding the torque tube or drive shaft is 1) replace the rear u-joint 2) remove shaft and liberally grease the splined area on the rear short shaft 3) grease the bearing at the rear of the torque tube 4) see if there is an access hole with plug for greasing the rear shaft (it would be about 8" from back of rear section of torque tube), and if not add a hole and install grease fitting (there is a procedure for this in service bulletins), and 5) add an access hole with plug for greasing the U-joint.

Way too high even if it didn't have the goofy two-tone job.

All Special and Century 2-door and 4-door models
had the 3-piece rear window. General Motors may
have considered it stylish, but others derided it as
retrograde. "Suddenly it's 1949!" competitors exclaimed.
The Roadmasters could be had with either a 3-piece
or a one-piece rear window. With a 3-piece rear window,
a chrome strip ran over the roof and down the trunk.
Here's a picture of Roadmaster Model 76-R from the internet:
The Roadmaster (models 76 and 73) with this design actually had a single rear window with trim running over the glass to give the appearance of a 3-piece window.

I have a '57 Century, and any potential buyer should
know that the interior is at least partially incorrect.
The cloth in the seats is wrong. Moreover, the door
panels are wrong, because they would not have been
3-toned red, white, and black.
Agreed... it's totally redone and everything about it that I can see is incorrect.
Also, what's the ducting in the trunk? I know it's not original but can't imagine what it's for...
-
Could be a really nice coupe but clearly not at market, or it would be gone. Reducing the details in the ad won't help.

"...maybe...a hammer to the wiper motor to get it working"
This kinda worries me regarding the maintenance the car has received in the past year.
Beautiful car, but there are just too many other options for $20k+

Where are you located? I have a bunch of new engine parts I don't think I'll ever need if you're going to do a rebuild.
