  1. I personally don't think that's a bad price. For a damn- near 100 year old car it appears very original and unmolested. I sold my dad's 28 Master about 13 years ago for $6k and it was in similar condition but had a handful of parts like headlights changed out with incorrect (like Packard) parts long ago. The market's changed since then, but still...

When you isolated the rest of the system did you totally isolate the relay? Did you check for parasitic draw, or specifically voltage going to the relay when ignition is on but not cranking? There could be a short somewhere causing some current to flow through relay, which could be enough to not cause it to crank without engaging the starter switch but enough to hold the relay once it's engaged.

Looks like the rear fluid seal on the transmission is not happy.  I have the Exxon Valdez on the garage floor near the back of the torque tube.  Not a happy camper.

But you've fixed these enough times that it must be getting fun now!  But probably not if you've already had it apart.

  4. If one was very close by, it would be worth grabbing. Solid rear bumper rails, though not as sought after as big series version, are a good grab and worth the selling price of the car. Other parts that fit all series, if nice, easily puts it over the top such as grille and fender eyebrow moldings; unfortunately these were gone or no good on this car or would've been worth more.

  5. That's interesting!  My experience is mainly with Roadmasters but I'd never imagined there would be any difference.  None of the big series cars I've owned or parted had the rubber on top.  Maybe they were all built on Mondays!

  6. Okay thanks. Sounds like quite a puzzle. I asked because that pic with the red overspray looks just like one I sold on Ebay about 10 years ago that was originally a red and white car and was also totally solid and straight, and firewall and inner edges of fenders had already been sprayed. I was pretty sure that car had gotten put back together by the buyer but thought perhaps I was mistaken.  I hadn't read the title carefully enough though as I see now this is a 4 door and mine was a coupe.
