  1. A good radiator shop should be able to replace the core. It is just like a core in a heater. There was a guy here who before he retired had a piece of heater core that he would cut a piece from to replace the core in the oil cooler.
  2. Joel, I have a 1935 50 series engine, exhaust manifold ends, some floor pans, engine splash pans, generator and some other parts. I think that I have one front fender. I do not have any of the window garnish mouldings. Send me a list of what you need and I will let you know if I have anything for you. fred.rawling@live.com or call (562) 644-4670 in California
  3. Robert, Call or e-mail me if you still need the tire, or if you do not need it. fred.rawling@live.com (562) 644-4670
  4. Yes, it is my truck. It started life as a 1928 model 51 Brougham sedan. I have registration slips from 1952. It was a truck at that time. I had some interesting comments on it like - Does it run, How did you get it here, and Did you get all that stuff (parts for sale) in it. The comment that I enjoyed the most was "What a neat truck". It ran great for the week before the swap meet and on the way to San Diego. It took 3 hours from Bellflower (Long Beach) with one stop for gas, one potty stop and a repair on the lock ring on the rear wheel. Check the missing piece in the picture. The lock ring came loose and broke. It was not quite an E ticket ride to see the piece slide past me on the freeway. I drove 45 to 50 mph all the way except at the 805/5 interchange. Then I got it up to 55 mph to keep up with all the crazy people. It ran 160 to 170 degrees all the way at 5 to 8 a.m.in the morning. BUT on the way home, I had vacuum tank problems right out of the stadium and all the way home. It took 5 hours to get home. I had to fill the vacuum tank one and it would buck and back fire when the lower tank ran out of gas and there was a delay while the gas ran from the upper tank to the lower tank. The 5 hours also included the potty stop and a stop for a hamburger. I drove the last 50 miles with the choke out. The lettering on the door is from the HBO movie Thirteenth Floor, a sort of si fi movie. This was the antique dealers truck. It shows up standing by the antique store and driving down the street at night. It has been in a few movies but usually does not show up. It shows in Flags of Our Fathers where Ira Hayes is released from the police station. http//www.imcdb.org/vehicle_85979-Buick-Master-51-1928.html. Fred
  5. It is a 1924 to 1927 Buick stop light from a Master series car. The chrome bezel tells me that. Standard tail lights had a snap ring to hold the lens in the shell.

  8. How abour $25.00 for the tire? Anyone interested?
  9. I bought a4 door 72 Electra 225 last November. It had sat in a garage for 8 years with 46,000 miles on it. After new tires, windshield washer pump, carburetor rebuild, water pump, heater valve, radiator rebuild, and a couple of belts. I still have to rebuild the air conditioner compressor. I am probably in it over the $1250 that this guy is asking but I am happy as a bug in a rug. I think that this is a very reasonable price. I drive it for my everyday car. It rides smooth and there is leg room for everyone in the front and back seats. The trunk is big enough to carry something. I like the pillarless hard top. I put 235 x75 r15 tires on it. They are just a bit larger than what came on it when I bought it. When I want to burn up some gas, I can squeek the tires from a standing start. Best of all, it is old enough to be exempt from the State required Smog inspection.
  10. As long as the tires clear everything on the fenders and front backng plates, I would use the ones that you like. If, however, you are looking for points in judging, you should go for the correct size tire.
  11. General Dual 90 800 x 15 with aproximately 3 1/2 inch white wall. New, never on the ground and it is not old and crusty. $35.00 plus shipping. Please e-mail me at fred.rawling@live.com.
  12. I am not sure what you are referring to as the upper tube. Is it the tube from the carburetor to the intake manifold inside the heat riser? If so, that valve is what what opens when you accelerate. It allows more air/fuel mixture to go into the engine. I have a 1928 Buick Master. When I rebuilt the engine, I removed the flapper form the exhaust manifold heat valve. With 800 miles on the engine, I have not had any problems. Heat still gets to the heat riser as was proven to me by water vapor leaking out of the connection from the heat tube to the heat riser. The collar that goes around the heat tube into the heat riser is used to compress the packing to seal that joint. I used round teflon faucet packing which aparantly I did not put in properly. I have used round faucet stem packing also. The set screws that are broken off are 1/4 -20 square head set screws. I bought mine at an industrial hardware store. I could not just buy 2 screws and had to buy a box. If you can not find just 2 screws and the box is more expensive than 30 cents for the 2 screws and postage from Southern California, Contact me and I will send you a pair. Contact me at fred.rawling@live.com as I do not check this forum on a regular basis. Fred
  13. If the numbers 256298 and 256299 are those on the parts, the answer is probably that the book parts number and the casting numbers on the parts are different, something that is not unusual. In my experience, the interchange in the parts book has always been correct. If the measurements of the parts are the same, I would assume that they would work. Fred
  14. You can search for Penrite Oil on the internet and see what products they have for older cars. If the transmission or differential has any brass bushings, the additive in the EP oils will eat little worm trails in the brass. Onec, I called some of the major oil companys engineering departments and asked about EP lubricants in units with brass parts. They stated that they did not recomend EP lubricants where brass was in the unit.
  15. The tire size for the Standard or 115 inch wheel base is 550 x 21 and for the master series both 120 and 128 inch wheel base is 600 x 21. You can use 5:50 x 21 tires on a 600 x 21 rim. I have been running 550 x 21 tires on the front of my 1928 Master that was converted to a pick up for 4 years with not problems. I Started doing that when I was short on money but I liked the look with the front end a little lower. Fred
  16. 49 viewings and no one interested. If it is the price, make an offer. Fred
  17. What series car. If it is that same as 50 Roadmaster ser 70, I have one.
  18. It is called a heat riser. I am sorry to say that I do not have one for you.
  19. That is a tough problem to solve. No one is making reproduction parts that I know of. You have to buy a used original if you can find one. They are different from Master to Standard. Perhaps, you can glue the parts together and get someone to make a sand casting for you.
  20. 1928 Buicks had 2 bar or 3 bar bumpers from the factory. Probably someone liked the type on your car and changed them just like they do today with wheel rims.
  21. I have seen at least 2 1927 Buicks with this type of bumpers. Buick did not have factory installed bumpers until 1928, so whatever is on the 1927 and earlier Buicks is correct.
  22. What ever route you take, it would be advisable to get some good pictures and measurements of the location etc of the striping before you start. That way if something goes wrong, you can restore the striping and triangles.
  23. I talked to someone several years ago that used early 1970's chevy backing plates and disc brakes on a 1934 -35 90 series Buick and used the original 34 spindles. Maybe the spindles on your car will take the original wheel bearings.
  24. General Dual 90 800 x 15 with aproximately 3 1/2 inch white wall. New, never on the ground and it is not old and crusty. $35.00 plus shipping. Please e-mail me at fred.rawling@live.com.
  25. Try bobsautomobilia.com. He had them at one time. I believe that they are the same on Chevys.
