Door Handle

I have 13 Reatta parts cars and have the door handle in blue, white, and silver although they can be painted to match your car. I will send you an email.
Jim
  2. The '89 shop manual shows the wiring for the inverter on pages 8A-88-0&1 There are 4 wires. The blue and the white are the 110V output and the black ( ground) and the grey are the input. I agree with Harry, it could be the headlight switch module that is causing the inverter to not be powered but if the background lights on the headlight and wiper switch modules and on the CRT do light then its probably not the switch. I also discovered by looking at the manual as well as testing some of my components earlier the evening that all three of the pieces, the mirror switch, the window switch and the shift plate all have to be plugged in in order for any of them to work. When I was testing I found one of my shift plates did not light up but but the window and mirror switches did. (bad shift plate)
I have sold several of these in the past and of the 3 components in the console the shift plate seems to be the weak link.
[ 02-16-2002: Message edited by: Jim ]

  6. There are 2 stop tabs near the top of the window. Remove the door panel and the strip next to the window at the top that is held in with 5 Phillips screws. Removing this strip is just so you can see down inside the window area. When you look inside you will see 2 stopping tabs a couple of inches down at either end of the window. Lower your window a little and loosen the # 10 bolts on the adjusters on the inside of the door and then raise the window to the desired height and then retighten the stoppers.
Jim
  7. I have 13 Reatta parts cars and probably have the correct color latch you are looking for. I will also include instructions on how to change the lock cylinder. Very easy.
Jim

  9. WISoldier,
If you can't work out purchasing the parts from Paxton, I have 12 Reatta parts cars and have the parts you are looking for.
Jim
  10. If your instrument panel cluster ( IPC ) is all black except for the error code where the odometer normally is, it is not your BCM or your ECM but the IPC itself. This is a very common item to go bad in '90-'91 Reattas. Even with the wrong chip in the replacement BCM, the dash should still light up. I have 12 Reatta parts cars and if you need an IPC I have one available.
Jim
[ 01-02-2002: Message edited by: Jim ]
[ 01-02-2002: Message edited by: Jim ]

    Can't turn it off

    Hi Jim,
When I saw the name "ranger" I went to the bottom to see where you were from and just like I suspected----Hibbing
I have heard of this before and suspect there is something broken or loose in the steering column causing the key to not shut off. In the morning I will take a look at one of my columns to see how it works and also a friend owns Minnesota Locksmith. I just talked to him today and I will ask him the same question tomorrow. I have a column I can take parts out of and I will give you a phone call tomorrow.
Jim

  16. The part number for the insert is 20588020 and the cap is 20587948. They are still available from GM for $ 3.33 retail and about $ 2.50 wholesale. They are also available online but then you pay shipping, no shipping at the dealership. Order them and when you go to pick them up tell them the parts are for Tcams76 or Tcams Auto Repair and you will probably get them for the wholesale price.
  17. When I saw this car last night on Ebay I almost put a post here myself but then thought I would wait and see what others thought first.
This ad to me is the ultimate in buyer beware. The seller has no feedbacks, has changed his user name and the pictures are very decieving because he only shows the good side and just a partial picture of the damage. On the straight front picture the hood is open and appears to be off center, the roof on the drivers side appears to be pushed up. Maybe the hood fits and maybe the roof is an optical illusion although the picture from the back also shows the roof pushed up, but if the car is repairable like the seller says and only needs the left front and door, what about the windshield and the door posts.
The biggest thing though that made me mention about the buyer beware is the gap on the right side of the car between the door and the fender. This indicates MAJOR damage to the car since the obvious damage is on the other side.

    ABS control module

    Wally,
I talked to Chuck and he told me that the service person at the dealership checked his car and determined it was the ECBM. I am sending him one and I mentioned the same thing to him, that I have only sold 3 of them in the past as they don't go bad very often. One of the ones I sold I heard back from the lady who purchased it and it did fix her problems. Like many electronic parts one day they are working and the next day they're not.
Jim
  19. I have emailed Kent, Laney, and Hicky also thankyou Swimmingbear for the nice words. I try to be reasonable although some parts are getting very hard to find. Drivers side door handles, excellent sill plates, floor mats, '90 headlight switches etc.
Jim
  20. I am in Duluth Minnesota and the car is in excellent condition. I can maybe deliver the car depending on the distance. Give me an email at jfinn@computerpro.com or a call at 218-628-2690 and I can answer any additional questions.
Jim
  21. I'm not sure who repairs CRTs but I have 11 Reatta parts cars and have a good used CRT I would sell outright for less than repair costs. You can email me at jfinn@computerpro.com
  22. I was away from home for over 3 weeks and had several emails when I returned from people looking for parts but not able to get a hold of me. I bought one Reatta just before I left and another one just last week so I now have a total of 11 Reatta parts cars and 1 '90 Riviera parts car. I can be reached at jfinn@computerpro.com
  23. Hi Patti,
I tried clicking on the letter icon in your message to email you directly but was unable to send a message that way.
I do have 11 Reatta parts cars and have the window you are looking for. You can email me at jfinn@computerpro.com or a call at 218-628-2690
Jim
  24. Hi Dan,
When I saw this post earlier I thought maybe it was you and maybe you had bought another Reatta. I got your Reatta ( parts ) back to Minnesota and have sold almost all the parts from it as you had taken very nice care of the car so everything was in good shape. I still have the doors because I am going to put them on one of the repairables I have. I agree with Padgett, a good place to look would be the torque converter lock up. I completely rewired a '90 Buick Skylark a couple of years ago that had been under water. I then drove the car myself for a while to test it and even though I had completly changed all of the transmission fluid about a month later the solenoid for the torque converter lock up was sticking and acting just the way you describe. I removed the side pan on the transmission and replaced the solenoid myself. I sold the car to my neighbor and he is still driving the car with no problems.
Jim
  25. I sold all of the original 5 sets of sill plate inserts and had 15 more sets made. I have sold 7 of those 15 and have 8 sets left. They are $ 21 including shipping and I can be reached at jfinn@computerpro.com
Jim
