1. Disc brakes werenot available on the 65's
They had the finned alum. drums. Rust problems bottom of front fenders, rear quarters behind rear wheel well, and especially the trunk area in the area where the body mount is located, this is toward the front of the trunk floor in the area next to the wheel well housing. Don't be afraid to lift up the trunk mat in each corner and check. Also trunk lids were very prone to rusting from underneath. A super riding car, with plenty of get up and go.
palbuick@aol.com

 8. Hi Dan
Sorry to take so long to answer but was out of town.
The factory Buick 7 blade fan will not fit, it is 17 1/2 in wide, but the center monting hole is over 2 in wide, where your fan has a small monting hole about 5/8 diam. Beat try an after market seven blade fan.
 9. Do you have the correct radio fader switch.
This switch controls the speaker functions, front , rear or both speakers. Pull your knobs off first, then remove the second round
switch, dont remember whick one, but one will have 3 prongs on it, this is the fader switch and controls speaker. If you dont have switch you will never get raer speaker to work. No fancy test equipment just look.
 10. Why not try a standard buick seven blade fan
They were used in the late 60's and a lot of GS cars had them as well as Air conditioned cars. I will measure one for you. I have a 300 fan blade and several 7 blade fans.
palbuick / Jim Schilf
 11. I don't know about the pontiac switch, but I know that the 49 cadillac rear fenders will fit the buick, Have seen several. Best to check a Hollander interchange book. 1949 was a one year body style for most GM vehicles,so there probably a lot of interchangeable parts.
jim Schilf /palbuick@aol.com

 14. The tach was an option, you could have the buckets and consel, as one option and the tach was a seperate option. I believe that all the wildcats with the consels had the tach's as an option.
The first one was the 1962 wildcats, which had a 7000 rpm tach, and (not gospel) all following years the tachs were 6000 rpm.
 15. Hi Dave
I take it that you want the rear quarter GS
emblems. I bought mine from Poston, several years ago. The Skylark and Wildcat both take the same emblens (GS). Just as good as NOS.
Don't know if they still carry them, give them a call. 1-800635-9781 or 1-334-368-8577
 16. I had the same problem with my 66 Wildcat. I had replaced everything on the front end, from ball joints to center link, had the front end aligned, everything tightened up.
When I left the front shop I had a very hard time trying to steer the car , mechanic told me that steering box was bad. Removed box and had it rebuilt, after that the car steers straight as an arrow, no play. I also
knew someone else whose riv was doing the same, had his steering box rebuilt and avery thing worked great. Take your car to a front end shop, and get an expert opinion. You can always remove yourself and send it out to get rebuilt ( I think it cost me about $100 for the rebuild)
Jim Schilf /palbuick
 17. I have been using PVC pipe in my garage for about 3 years. I first used 3/4 in pipe in my old garage and when I moved and built new garage i used 1 1/2 in PVC pipe, with a 3/4 in drop lines down to work bench and several other easy access locations. I have only had one problem, one connection started leaking after 3 years, cut it out with hack saw and pieced in new fittings. I am finding very little condensation in pipes, compared to steel pipe, and a lot more cheaper. Try using the largest diam. pipe you can as this will act as a storage tank for more air. Especially using a blast cabinet, they use lots of air. Get a tip catalog they have an excellent diagram of air pipe set-uo for their air systems, and the catalog is free.
Good luck
 18. According to Buick parts book the 72 Centurion rear axle ratio ,
Std with 455 and 400 turbo 2.93
performance axle was 3.42.
Jim Schilf /palbuick
 19. I don't know about the 215, But several years ago I put a 340 into my 66 lark and to make it look original I put the 300 valve covers on, everyone thought it was a 300 motor, what a fooler and screamer.

Has the ribs in the rubber, 8.846 #137224. $30.
Used but excellent rear bumper rubber cushions for the 67 GS/ Skylark. These are the rubber pieces at each end of the bumper, between the bumper and body $30. pair.
 21. Not too many people have ever seen the Apollo, except for the 73/74's. There is someone in Calif.who has one and is quite knowledgeable about these cars, His name is Greg Field BCA # 1, (founder of the Buick Club of America). I don't have his address, but someone might have it. I believe that they were an imported car, not sure.
Hope this helps.
Jim Schilf
 22. There is another manual, National Service Manual, These are excellent for references, I have used it more than a shop manual, easy and quick references. I know of the years 1964 - 65 - 66 - 67 , as I have these books, have not found other years yet. Each book covers one year, but all Makes of vehicles, from chev to whatever, Americam vehicles only.

 25. Sorry but the 4 bbl carb was not abailable until 1952. This was the only year Buick used a 4 bbl on a straight eight motor.Your car should have a 2 bbl carb, Stromberg AAV-267, and the numbers 7-70 stamped on the top of air horn, or a carter 664S, both 1948 and 49 Roadmasters used the same carbs. If you decide to use the 4 BBl , look for a 52 air cleaner. If you decide to change, do not throw away the 4 bbl , as it is quite rare, and you might find some one who would trade with you for correct manifold
