3. I just scrapped a 320 ci Straight eight motor that was used in a Continental Bus. Everything on the block was altered except the valve cover, Oil pan ran the full length od the block and about 7 inched deep, water pump was different from original, had a small narrow belt. It also had an oil cooler, and a 5 speed trans and a hydrulic operated clutch.
More than likely it was a buick replacement motor from the 50's, the replacement motors did not have serial numbers spamped on them.
Hope this has helped.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
 4. I don't know if the 65 has a fuse block under the hood . The block that the battery cables attach to, for the starter. A small bakelite block with 2 terminals for battery cables and smaller terminal for horn wiring.
I had one that cracked, no start the engine, no horns, searched and check everything, this was the last part I checked, and guess what, put a new one on and everything worked.
Just something else to check, and the easiest
part to get at.
Jim Schilf /palbuick@aol.com
 5. There is a new fuseblock on e-bay now, don't remember what model , but I think 65 or 66. I think it was just listed .
Jim Schilf /palbuick@aol.com
 6. Very carefully.
I have done this on some of my 40 handles.
The knobs are held onto the handle by a pin, which has a serated or grooved end going into the knob. If you can heat up this pin from the back of the handle just enough to soften the plastic, the pin will pull out of the plastic. Do not put heat directly on the plastic or it is gone. I used a punch to conduct the heat onto the end of the pin, held by vice grips, and a small propane torch. You should experiment on one of the worst handles(knobs). Putting the good knob back on is easy, just heat the pin and insert back into the plastic knob, let it cool and it is on as tight as the original.
Good luck.
Jim Schilf /palbuick@aol.com

 20. Why not try one of the chemical strippers that advertise in hemmings. Their process will remove all the old sealer inside and out, then you can start over with an new tank.
What ever you do DON'T send it to GAS Tank RENEW. They are located in Rockford, ILL. I had mine done by them and they runied it, Cut holes into it and sloped sealer all over it, This was on a 40 Buick Tank.
Jim Schilf /palbuick@aol.com
 21. Your lenses should have a size and/or a part number on the outside rim of the lense. Quite a few vehicles used these lenses, so more information would help.
Jim Schilf /palbuick@aol.com
 22. Luck you. the 38 coupe is one of the most sougnt after Buicks around. Some models had no rear seat and some had a fold down jump seat, if I am correct.
Best wait until someone with 38 knowledge answers. there is a 37-38 Buick club.
I'm sure taat someone will give you an address. The parts you mentioned are not hard to find. Do not pass up this vehicle.
 23. Several years of Buicks had mirrors with the Tri-Shield on them . Early 60'S were a plain mirror, up to mabye 66 on the skylarks.
The 1970 mirror was the only year that had a remote mirror with the tri-shield and the right side was not a remote, Buick did not have a temperature gauge mirror until about 1976, and did not have a trishield emblem.
24. If you go into an autozone store, first ask the kid behind the counter if he knows his name, any hesitation on his or her part turn around and walk away.
These numbers are Buick part numbers, most of the fast part auto stores don't have any cross reference numbers, only the numbers in their parts catalogs.
Try the Buick Farm, they might have an Original hose and some belts. The only bad thing about the original parts are that they are over 35 years old, anythng over 35 is going dry, including a lot of us.
Good luck.
 25. These are the original Buick part numbers for you radiator hoses.
Upper hose 1372789
Lower hose 1362552
I don't think youll find original ones, How about Gates hoses?
Will be old parts house tomorrow and will check out the hoses.
Jim Schilf / palbuick@aol.com
