  1. After this, i turned my attention to the drivers console. first up after painting was leather, and I didn't choose the easiest parts as a trial run. I had to soak the leather in water to soften and clamp it in a buck to help stretch it out. I covered the bottom of the drivers panels on either side of the steering column, and i plan to cover the accessory panel hatches as well.
  2. Either way, I happen to have a DIY-sized soda blaster, so a little time with baking soda took most of the plastic back to its original state. After that, a scuff with a scotchbrite to aid in future paint bite, prime and paint with the Argent Silver, and a pass with a 2K Clear. Turned out pretty good! I also took some time to re=paint the black and chrome trim. A little tape and SEM flat black brought it back to life.
  3. Well its been awhile since I provided any updates, so I figured I would step up and let everyone know how the restoration progresses. To pick up where I left off, I was working on the interior drivers dash and passenger glove box. Unfortunately, after I primed all my parts, the paint crinkled like nuts on me and didn't want to stick. I think the plastic BOP used was an early version low surface energy plastic (polyethylene?), and not a lot wants to stick to it.
  4. I can imagine! That's one of the many projects I'm currently juggling. Just got the pieces back from the laser cutter and oiled/clear coated them last weekend. Waiting for the clear to harden before I attempt to install!
  5. Very nice! What veneer did you go with?
  6. while I don't disagree with you Ed, I have yet to see a convincingly well done cut-out for vent window control switch. The originals are very nice, with a trim around the switch. Better to just handle the switch plate like its made of gold, because there aren't any spares left out there!
  7. Congrats, that's a lucky find! 👍. I also have a 64 KX that I'm in the middle of a full restoration on, with all the same options. FYI - The power vent windows are very rare - arguably even more rare than the KX code engine. If you are planning a restoration, use caution when handling the chrome switch plate base: you are extremely unlikely to find another one that has the power vent switch bosses. 🤷‍♂️
  8. Have you checked that the cabel is disconnected from the vent door? Vent door is mechanically cable actuated, and the cable has a loop at the end that slides onto a pin. It need sto be removed before the vent is removed
  9. Same goes for the rear quarters. The cards themselves are easy to make out of 1/8 MDF, and easily attach the the metal caps via pop rivets
  10. Matt, Yes there is a door panel cap. The interior door panels and rear quarter panels are a 2-part construction. There is a metal cap (stiffener I suppose?) that runs the length of the panel and extends down the inside by maybe 3 or 4 inches. The door card is attached the cap and all the interior accessories are fastened to the card. Same goes for the rear quarters The on the window side of inside of the caps are where the felt strips are stapled
  11. One portion of my 64 done. Now all that's left is everything else!
  12. Excellent, thanks for the info. I'll put it on my Xmas wishlist
  13. Is this the Quick ratio you installed? "Borgeson Street & Performance Series, 12.7:1 Ratio" https://www.borgeson.com/Borgeson-Street-and-Performance-Series-12.7-1-Ratio.html I've been back and forth on whether to install one on my '64 project, and want to see what your experience has been.
  14. Not sure the blue wire goes through this connector. Pretty sure it goes though the other connector (Black one). You may have to unbolt your connector and check the other side for the blue wire lead.
  15. Is this the same as the red w/ white stripe wire, or a separate red wire?
  16. Will check my diagram tomorrow and let you know where Lt. Blue goes
  17. pretty sure extra Lt. Blue wire goes on the black connector, but not sure where.
  18. See pic. Cut wires are from cruise, since I removed it from my car during my re-wiring process. Green, white, and red at the bottom. Tan is parking brake switch light (also cut since I am going to E-Stopp) Next up is grey (also part of Cruise) Dark Blue is Speedo Buzzer (also cut because I hate that fricken thing)
  19. Excerpt from the chassis wiring diagram.
  20. 99% sure that what you circled in red is actually for the standard foot headlight dimmer switch. The upper connector is for the optional guide-matic headlight dimmer and the lower connector is for the standard foot dimmer, depending on which option the car came with. The electro cruise does not pass through this connector. I have a colour coded wiring diagram I can share with you in the morning and some photos of when I cut the electo-cruise out of my 64 (it didn't work and I didn't want it). I may have some left over connectors I can send to you too but you will need to re-wire the connectors. I was not trying to save anything when i cut it out of my wiring harness. PM me for details.
  21. As a fellow Ontarian, feel like elaborating? I feel like every time I order parts, I end up paying double or more after tariff, exchange rate etc.
  22. I have a parts car with these intact. I would have to make sure the ones going back in my restoration are in good condition, but otherwise willing to part out. Let me know.
  23. CARS or OPGI might have them aftermarket. I might have some in my parts bins. Are yours missing?
  24. March/April just got to Ottawa, Can. About a month behind the US folks, which is about right for Canada Post.
