  7. J D Power/NADA says average retail is around $60k, high retail (for a #1 car, I presume) is just under $100k. Hagerty says $48k for condition #3. My opinion is that this Cad would be much better off WITHOUT those hideous white walls and what appear to be dummy spoke hubcaps. It also needs an interior and engine compartment detail. The whole thing looks a little tired to me, as well as being at least $50k too much. Maybe I'm just being too critical...
  8. Over 120 damaged Corvettes Waiting To Be Crushed. GM's Bowling Green Kentucky factory and the Corvette Museum were hit by a tornado. The destructive force of nature left more than 120 units of C8 Corvettes severely damaged. Chevrolet had to scrap all units that show any signs of damages. Apart from the cars, the Corvette factory was hit by a fire caused by the tornado, which destroyed the building's roof as well as one of the employee entrances.

  11. Doesn't that sound somewhat like the philosophy our Native Americans had about the land they lived on? Maybe what goes around, comes around. I hope we don't suffer the same fate.
  12. Well, Dave, if you were 30 years old when your car was new, like I was when I bought my truck, that would make you about 114 now. What's your secret to longevity? Sure hope I can still drive and enjoy my old cars at that age too! Happy New Year
  13. I bought it new in '72! It will outlast me...
  14. The City of Detroit announced the sale of the Old American Motors Corporate headquarters for redevelopment. Built in 1926/7, it housed a varied assortment of automotive concerns. It's now on the list with the Packard plant for demolition. https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/enthusiasts/amcs-hq-will-be-demolished-to-erase-ruin-porn-from-detroit-says-mayor/ar-AASfnnT?ocid=mailsignout&li=BBnb7Kz
  15. I agree with your quoted observation, however urban centers are experiencing the rapid development of systems to greatly reduce private car usage. Many universities, public and private, think centers, and governmental sectors, both state and federal, national and international, are actively funding and planning for change. Even in your own backyard, plans are being made. (I know from first hand knowledge - my son is a professor at a prestigious University and has been consulting about this subject in both hemispheres for a number of years with a number of public and private institutions). Quote from the article: "If you think this plan is limited to just the UK, you haven’t been paying attention. There have been other efforts to make private vehicle ownership a thing of the past, including a new measure in Southern California. The 2021 Regional Transportation Plan passed recently by the San Diego Association of Government’s board of directors is a $160 billion initiative just for the metropolitan area to boost public transportation." This certainly won't affect rural areas this century or probably even the next, but changes are coming and we all should be aware - not from a position of fear or irrational reaction - but with an educated, open-minded view.
  16. This article is already posted in the legislation forum, but it needs to be read by everyone who owns and drives ANY car. There are REAL plans out there to prohibit private vehicles. Some say it can't happen here, but it's in discussion stages in California, England and other places. If we ignore it, it won't go away. It will happen sooner than later. (Moderators may have a problem with this article being posted here, but the automotive community needs to stay informed.) https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/uk-inches-closer-to-eliminating-private-car-ownership/ar-AASbota?ocid=mailsignout&li=BBnb7Kz
