  1. Set number one piston to top dead centre and on the firing stroke and then place the flywheel in so the timing marks on the flywheel line up with the pointer on the bell housing. then your bolt hole will be within koowee!!
  2. Yer there will be plenty of rubbing down to do. I managed to get some prize winning runs where I was trying to flood the old timber with epoxy undercoat. šŸ˜šŸ‘
  3. Stu does a bloody good job casting mate. He did a beautiful job of my posts.
  4. I actually did a bit of a test run with the undercoat on there and some how it doesnā€™t scratch the paint. Iā€™m going to put a small lock tab on the join and then I thought of buying the biggest circlip pliers I could and utilise the holes to help spread the ring. Even my small circlip pliers help to get it on. Donā€™t worry Ron I was stressing about the same thing. I also tried 2 pry bars with good success. Used one to spread it and the other to flick it off. Hopefully they donā€™t go on and off to often.
  5. One wheel done and running pretty true to my surprise. 5 to go.
  6. Rims have got a bit of paint on them so I guess the next few nights will be spent trying to lace them up.
  7. Thereā€™s a few dodgey ones working working on this project. šŸ˜‚
  8. Thanks Ben Im keeping the original ratio as the roadster is lighter than the sedan, normally Pete said he would change the diff to a DA for the sedan but reckons the roadster will be fine with itā€™s original. pete tells me at around 80kph with the over drive clicked in we should get around 90kph at the same engine speed.
  9. Both my Victoryā€™s which are the same engine as yours are 90 degrees clockwise to the front of the engine. Basically pointing towards the manifold. Thats paint not nail polish. šŸ˜‚
  10. Haha youā€™ll never see me in that Italian tin can Ronny. Not even to push it out the shed. šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£
  11. They tell me it will be worth around $80k. I wouldnā€™t give them $80 for it. Theyā€™re a terribly built car. Feel free to shoot me if I am seen in it.
  12. Iā€™m repairing a Fulvia segato I think itā€™s called. About a 64 model. Rust rust rust. Doing it for a friend that repairs them. Im 3/4 of the way around it just the front right to go.
  13. Thanks fellas. You guys have been a huge help. I do have trouble pulling myself away from fixing the air in the lancia Ron. I have only one quarter panel to go before Iā€™m at the end of that tin can.
  14. Thanks Doug and even though there is still a fair bit to do thank you to this forum and all itā€™s great members that have helped along the way. Youā€™ve been a great help to me Doug putting me in contact with different people to help me along with this old girl. Teddy Has been very helpful with sending me so many photos of bits and pieces it just takes all the doubt of how thing can be.
  15. The marriage was today. Iā€™ll let the pictures tell the story. I just love this car itā€™s bloody beautiful.
  16. Floor is all painted and fitted in and front bumper is on. I have to make some little brackets for my indicators to come of the mounting bolt behind the bumper. Will also make a new battery box. I think tomorrow I will try roll it out the garage and drop the body onto the chassis. Thatā€™s a job for the forky.
  17. Very nice, yours looks great there. Iā€™m looking forward to trying it out. Iā€™m going to put one on the sedan also after I finish the roadster.
  18. Iā€™ve used the original 3 speed box and fitted the overdrive just behind it. Pete that has helped me with my engine and the rest of the car has done this on a few of his dodgeā€™s and it adds about 10 mph to the top speed. The only reason Iā€™ve done it is so I can keep up with freeway traffic a little better. A lot safer too. He normally fits a DA diff into them also but he thinks with the roadster being a bit lighter our original diff should be good. He has almost finished his Victory six sports roadster also. Itā€™s looking beautiful.
  19. Haha I didnā€™t see Dukey in the picture there. He loves it when Iā€™m working in the garage. Heā€™s better there laying down he usually is leaning on me for what ever reason. The overdrive is out of a Volvo. Late 80ā€™s four speed. Itā€™s a pretty common one used in a few cars.
  20. My floors are all in and ready for painting. I used 18mm marine ply. Iā€™ll fit the toe board once the body is on. Tailshaft is in and rear bumper and taillight brackets fitted. I have used a modern type tail shaft and universal joints. Itā€™s a bit shorter coming off the overdrive.
  21. Thanks Ian your so right hearing the engine burst šŸ’„ into life is just fantastic. You always wonder what you might of forgotten to put in there or do up properly. Now I canā€™t wait to give it a run down the road.
  22. Decided today to try get her started. With the electronic ign it was easy to set the ignition timing spot on. It has a little LED when itā€™s in the correct position. I sprayed some fuel in the carbi to see if it would fire and it did. So I hooked up the fuel and it poured out the top of the carbi , so off with the needle and seat and found a little bit of fibre stuff in there. With that fixed I turned it over a few times , gave It some choke, got electrocuted of the spark plug leaning over to hit the starter and then she fired straight up. Only ran it for 15 seconds or so because I have no water hooked up. Sounds good with no rattles or knocks but it was pretty loud with no muffler. I gave it a few more short starts and it seems great so far so Iā€™m pretty happy and relieved it all goes. started fitting the floors today with some 18mm marine ply.
  23. Haha thanks Ron hopefully John and Horace have been keeping an eye on me. Itā€™s always a little nerve racking on the first start up after an engine rebuild.
  24. Rich has done a beautiful job of rebuilding my generator for me and itā€™s working well looking at the pics. Thanks Mate My brother drove a bit over 6 hour round trip for me today and picked up my new rims from Steve at vintage rims. He drove out to Kingaroy to get them. They look great and heā€™s going to send them down here to me. Thanks Mick. It will be great to get them painted and laced up. That could be a good or bad experience. I got all my brake lines , fuel lines and wiring loom clamped into the chassis. Then got my oil lines all hooked up and turned the engine over until I had oil coming out of all the lines and then nipped them up. Got plenty of oil dripping of the chain so at this stage Iā€™m happy Iā€™ve got oil flow through the engine. I might even try fire it up tomorrow and keep my fingers crossed Iā€™ve put the engine all back together properly. It will make a nice coffee table if Iā€™ve screwed it up.
