  1. Took Ruby to classic car gathering in Kyrenia harbour today , couple of photos below of Americans.

very stressful though as everyone kept touching and leaning on as they took at least 100 photos ,

I had to wear my grumpy old man hat , and tell many not to touch , one chap actually opened door and went to sit inside for photo shoot, but good day. Lovely 55 fully restored corvette my favourite, but sadly photo didn’t come out

  2. Thanks guys , I not really sure what I do qualifies as Storage , I just park in carport with soft cover and weatherproof cover strapped with bungies and leave for 3 months . Friend checks fortnightly that covers still in place as strong winds here during winter .Will certainly take on board oil change routine recommended in future.

carport open on 2 sides going  to fit zip up type see through screens to open side , can’t do much about entrance without extending as Ruby wouldn’t fit if I had doors

  3. As mentioned in other thread don’t cover to many miles each year in Cyprus , had Ruby 2 years and have clocked just over 3 k

car was serviced in US prior to shipping here .

I  bought a set of items ready for next service , but todate haven’t used them .

However, have cleaned spark plugs and fitted carb service kit and greased all nipples underside .

wondering about oil change, filters etc , is there rule of thumb guide , or service guidelines for low mileage usage

Advice from you guys welcome .

    cheers

Pilgrim, you could always take a boat to the mainland and drive the desert roads! :P I know your neighbors are a little unstable at the moment, but shouldn't be too bad..

Yes , some good roads , drove my explorer through them years back when we first came here , currently though I’d want that 1950s safarie Buick I’ve seen on here kitted out with spare fuel, tyres and a  sub machine gun rack! And instead of my usual Buick tee shirt a Kevlar vest! ?

  5. Big ask for me  John , living on a small island, a long trip is 60 miles  .Have added only 3000 miles on Ruby’s mileometer since I bought her 2 years ago and that’s with quite frequent trips. I am only here 8 months of year and would need to nearly double my driving activity to reach 2500 per annum. Also when you have been coming to same place for 14 years there are very few places you haven’t been.

You guys in States have no excuses , good luck will watch with interest

I'm guessing you don't dress for the weather. One girl has on a bare midriff top and the girl sitting next to her has on a sweater. The guy has on the high waisted, double pleated pants.  Gotta be from the 40's.

Wife has taken an interest , says hair , shoes and trousers, got to be 40s , pity didn’t mentioned the car! ?

Getting the original AM radio working is pretty easy. Converting to FM is even easier. Looks original with no mods, all you need is a soldering wand and access to a place that sells modern capacitors and solid core wire.

Hi Beemon , would love some heads up on converting Am to Fm , my radio makes noise , supposedly works , but no Am stations in Cyprus , plenty of Fm.

    cheers

I can't believe the number of people who buy pre 1955 cars then want to tear them apart and install things that were common from 56 up like 12v electrical systems, auto trans, V8 engine and air conditioning. Why don't they just buy a car that has all those things?

Wouldn’t mInd some of those things , happy with my 53 , without those things , but being honest didn’t know enough about mid fifties American cars  and the options available just a couple of years later than what I was looking at . However actually prefer the classic American style of late forties and early fifties , big bumpers , big grills , loads of chrome etc , so probably would still have gone with 53  even if someone had ‘wised me up’

Thanks for sharing, just curious about your comment "just received..." did you have them in storage or something?  Are you familiar with the website http://www.americanautoemblems.com/

it was recently started by a good friend from England who has perhaps the finest collection I'm aware of.  He's done a lot of research and is sharing it via the web. Recommend you sign up for regular updates and additions to the collection.
