  1. Dad is in a home in Portland. I am going to look for a job and hold off selling stuff for a while. I hauled the 55 Chevy project home. Won't sell it right now. Had the 57 shipped and keeping her. Going to try and get my life back on track as I have dad taken care of for now and things in Tx taken care of for the moment. But the immediate plan is sleep and clean out the garage to fit the cars in it!
  2. Hey y'all. I made it home to Oregon today with the '55. The '57 was shipped and I'm told arrived ok as well.
  3. '57 Ford Retractible. Currently on its way from Tx to Or.
  4. By the way Steve, I hauled an A from Tx to Or. I had the car loaded the wrong way. The headliner started lifting after going through the desert. It wasn't real bad and I could argue that I didn't know any better and had to haul it quickly and without much assistance, (with zero towing experience), but I definately felt like you describe. I quickly got over it and I hope you do too.
  5. I won't embarrase myself and say how many times. No one was hurt, that's all the matters. I thought you were going to say you slipped and hurt yourself.
  6. A lot of MB models are diesel. Not sure about this one but someone will know.
  7. More accurately it's "back up insurance". Getting the actual worth of the car or cost to repair correctly is what I think would be an uphill battle though. Reliable is very well known, but for 35% again the price, it was too much for my situation. I communicated with several carriers and none of them could explain thier claim process with any clarity or back up to prove what they said. So I made decision and I will hope for the best.
  8. There are a couple CB's in the garage also. Dad was a trucker, so always had them. The Lincoln has a factory installed one. Lol
  9. Digger, can you help me find a restoration system? It will be a lot easier for me than finding one. You can tell by the numbers that it didn't come with ac, but on a warm day I'd like to have it. Also when it rains in OR, it might help with window condensation? Or not since it doesn't vent to the windows? The more I learn, the more I realize that I don't know. I'm starting to wonder if it's even practical for me to keep any of these cars... I'm feeling a little overwhelmed and I still need to find the right white walls for it. I have so little car knowledge, I'm not even comfortable airing up my own tires. I can never seem to find how much air they should take.
  10. I just found a NIB 8 track player. I'd keep it and the tape deck for looks in the right cars. They can add the Bluetooth, etc with other parts.
  11. Similar but different. Thanks Digger! Funny thing is that it was in the back of the Corvair Van I sold. I initially thought it went with that and only noticed the "Ford" on it at the last minute. Once I saw that, I thought it might be for the '50 and set it aside. It almost went with the van. I will keep my eyes open for the other parts. They are probably around, or I could have given them away with the '50 parts. Hard to say.
  12. I am paying right about 2k for enclosed. It's about 2200 miles. They don't break down the fees. Reliable is 2700 and they go up from there. The rest of the cars I have hauled but this one is too big for my 16' trailer. It has the continental kit. The driver I got dispatched has a newer Volvo 18 wheeler and a 2 story trailer with a lift gate. I'm hoping for the best. I did a bunch of research and I've been a nervous wreck about this, but the carrier has good equipment at least. Montway says they have "double" insurance because they and the carrier have it. I think a claim would be horrible no matter what. I have almost never had good interactions with insurance companies. I'm hoping for the best. Edit: Maybe it was Reliable that has double insurance. Not sure and hoping not to have to find out.
  13. That's great Grimy! That's about all I can imagine I'd need to know. I appreciate your willingness to help me learn about it. It's pretty neat looking. You don't see many around, that's for sure!
  14. Just an update. I never did sell this. I got frustrated with trying to wrap my head around this project, the '55 and the '50 at the same time. Plus dad never transferred the title, and it's titled with an old engine#, so I had to apply for bonded title. One of my sisters would like to have it. Sold the '50 and some land instead and haven't sold anything else this year due to tax reasons. The body# is 46874851. New engine# U61078. The original engine# was U75669A I found new in box side curtains and top for this, still in plastic. I haven't gone through all the parts or fully inspected the floor boards yet. Any info you can give me about this is appreciated, and please send me a pic of yours when it's convenient.
  15. I just realized you also have a '48 Jeepster. I would love to see pics. Have you seen pics of my fathers? It was in the process of being restored. Good body/paint, rebuilt engine, NIB side curtains and top but not all the mechanical parts are connected and the interior is in good shape but not in the vehicle. We may have spoke on this before, but there's been so much to keep track of.
  16. Now I know why dad wanted me to have a boyfriend that was a mechanic. Lol
  17. I bet she'd look "HOT". She probably already does. I may add ac, but in Oregon with the top down, that's probably good enough. She's shipping from Texas to my house as soon as Montway finds a driver. The last one broke down. I try to have fun, but honestly I'm way too serious about all this. At least according to my friends. Trying to fix that.
  18. Wow, I couldn't pick that out of a line up, but I will keep my eyes peeled. Thank you!
  19. Yep. Just like the ones on the '57 Retractable.
  20. I so appreciate all the help. I'm like a fish out of water here. I appreciate all the help so much. You all have been so helpful not just with info, but also with emotional support during this process. Car guys are some of the best people I have ever encountered in life.
  21. Thanks everyone. I just had someone set off a bug bomb. Will go back in a couple days and try to inventory if I get brave. Dad used to have 6 or 7 Corvettes so not surprised if some stuff is for them. Franks, thanks for solving the question of the Cornona bottle.
  22. If you could send me a picture, I can look around to see if I have one. It's entirely possible. Thank you!
