  1. It also means they can stop us for no reason and question how we live our lives. Reminds me of stops I’ve seen in movies of communist countries. What about our freedoms? I don’t agree with drugs at all, but I also don’t like that they get away with harassing honest citizens. And what if they search when I have a ton of car parts. Who is going to pack it back up when I can’t? That’s the the real issue. I shouldn’t have to explain why I am in Texas and why my passenger is, or how long we have been here. Kind of reminds me of a police state. All of that being said, I’m over it, but if they would have searched through all the parts and made a mess after someone had to pack it up for me, I would have raised hell.
  2. Come to find out Texas updated the law and that cop was out of line. I found the statue. The law states “(b) alter or obscures 1/2 or more of the name of the state in which the vehicle is registered…” the state of Texas updated the law because some agents decided to interpret the law like this one.
  3. May I ask how long your trailer is? I have been wanting to look into what it is capable of in terms of pulling an enclosed trailer with the 5.7L V8.
  4. No, but I remember being told they are built there. Maybe that’s why he’s so at home here. Lol. It’s been a great truck for hauling and I wouldn’t have considered one if my son hadn’t have had it all ready to go for my needs and he was going to sell it at a loss because it had 300 miles on it. His need for it changed as he sold a business shortly after buying it.
  5. Last night I dreamt that I accidentally drove the Tundra and the car hauler with the Jeepster into a lake. The tundra sank but for some reason the Jeepster was partially floating and I was able to tie it to a boat dock. Then boats tied up near it were threatening to bump into it because of high winds. All this car stuff has been on my brain 24/7 for three years. I’m usually on my phone researching something about the cars if I have nothing else going on. I barely watch TV when it’s on because of this. I always have several things I’m trying to figure out how to accomplish. Sometimes I have strange dreams like this. Lol
  6. Yes sir, sorry about that. I’m trying to talk my son into buying it!
  7. My riding buddy is two dogs. Lol. They are always alert.
  8. Getting close to heading to Oregon with the Jeepster project. Got pulled over in Texas today by 2 state troupers. I guess I look suspicious with the Tundra and a Tonneau cover and Oregon plates in Texas. They were checking me for drug running they said. Cover and Oregon plates... Their excuse was “obstructed plates” for which they gave me a written warning. The “Oregon” is obstructed. I can’t imagine getting searched with all the parts packed in there and in the Jeepster. I’d never be able to repack it myself. ?‍♀️ I have to take the plate cover off. Guess I’m a little too suspicious looking. Or maybe it was my passenger. Yeah, I’m going with that. ?
  9. He’s shiny from water. The reality is he can use another wash, a clay bar treatment then a polish but he will clean up real nice!
  10. I also wanted to let you all know, that thanks to a member’s huge help, @JACK M, we had a very successful sale! The shop is getting close to empty. I even sold the Lincoln on the eBay auction that ended yesterday. I just have a few large items left that I can sell online, so we don’t even have to have open the sale today. What’s left: 4 Flathead engines, Corvair parts, 2002 Teardrop Trailer to pull behind motorcycle or car, drill press, steam cleaner, wood shredder, armoire, etc. plus a few more trips to the dump and more burning of old paperwork. I’ll haul the Willys home and plan to sell it and the 55 Chevy. I just have the ‘63 Spyder and related parts to rehome to Oregon. Thanks to so many for helping me along the way, and for keeping my spirits up when I couldn’t see the forest for the trees. It’s hard to see my fathers shop so empty, but it’s time to look forward and let go of the past!
  11. Hey guys, I’m in McMinnville, Oregon, which is about an hour southwest of Portland. I’d be happy to help someone start a NW group. I could get a list of members and help put out the word to see if we can drum up enough members. I am sure we can! This is something I’ve been hoping would happen! Let’s get a few of us in the NW that could work together and make this happen. Who is in?
  12. I wouldn’t drive on any of those old tires. That one holds air for about a day. Lol. I found a Hudson book that I set aside to send to you. PM your address if you’d like it. Someday I will dig out picks of my father’s Pickups.
  13. Got the first layer of dirt off the 48 Jeepster today.
  14. Do we need to start a new thread for this cordless convo? It sounds like it could go on a while... ???
  15. If any of you are in Tx, I am having a sale this weekend in Harper. PM me for directions. People had asked me to let them know and I don’t remember who all asked. 16. I was told Model A’s were notorious for using leftover parts from year to year, so I would think judging would get tricky. Hopefully the book answers all the questions. Love your car! Here is one of my dad’s that I sold. I hauled it from Tx to Or and boy did it get attention. People still love these old cars!
  17. Sadly many have. These guys are sneaky and hack the account far in advance. They wait for the right time towards the end of the transaction and send very authentic looking emails with logos, etc. The return email address appears legit also. They have other emails diverted so the buyer doesn’t see them. It’s all very sophisticated and believable. Even Realtors who do this all the time get duped. NEVER follow advice to transfer $$ via email. Always confirm in person or with a phone call you make to the appropriate party.
  18. I wish I could do it without being on camera. I really don’t relish that thought.
  19. Jack, this happened when I was a title rep in Portland in my office. Luckily, the client called to ask the escrow officer if the email instructions were valid. They were not, their email had been hacked. It has been happening all over the country for the last 6 years or so. I taught a class on wire fraud and other types of fraud to Realtors. We changed the way we did business to prevent this, including telling all parties not to expect changes in wiring instructions to come via email. Sadly, this type of loss is not insured and the money is usually not recovered. It’s devistating to think of someone loosing their life savings.
  20. I could use some front drums too. If you find a source with multiple sets, please let me know.
  21. The show is still unnamed. They are filming in a February. Not sure when it would air.
  22. I just finished the interview. They are doing 12 episodes initially. They will edit the interview and submit it to the producers for consideration. I did tear tear up talking about my father but was able to get through it. I’d say with so few episodes, there’s a very small chance of the 57 being chosen, however I do think this is a great format for a car show and I look forward to seeing it in when it airs. I’m so glad that’s over now! They asked me why this car is special to my father and I and what I think it’s worth. They’d ship it to La to appraise on air. I reminds me of Antiques Road Show but with cars.
  23. Cute pups! My pit mix Patsy loves to ride around in the convertible with me. I wish I had a pic! She sits right next to me. I sit on her leash to make sure she doesn’t go anywhere, but it’s not even necessary. Haha
