    Heater box

The first photo in the set you posted helps me out a lot because it is of the vacuum diaphragm that I can't see. Mine seems (by blindly feeling it) to be in good conding and not cracked. What I don't understand is it seems to only have one port right in the center although the shop manual clearly illustrates that it has two hoses going to it. Can anyone clear that up for me?
  2. Just replaced my radiator fan and clutch. Who needs my old one? Make me an offer. Radio, Lighters, Speaker, Glove Box and mats all still available.
  3. Here are photos of what came in the kit. 6 hoses x 64" just like the guy described to me. The ID is close but not exactly the same as the sample I pulled off my original system. I suspect the hoses that were in my car may have dried up and shrunk down a little in fifty years though. There is also one solid black one that is a little thicker and shorter than the rest for the main vacuum line from the engine to the vacuum storage tank.
  4. Using the hex head bolts seems like much more of a pain in the ass to me than just springing for the extra bread it would cost to buy the exact repros. It's going to be next to impossible to get them to not spin in the pockets and using some kind of adhesive seems ineffective for the long term. No matter what you use it's eventually going to dry up and you'll be pulling your hair out trying to loosen a rusted bolt spinning round and round inside a pocket you can't reach. That being said I have the repro set on back order from OPGI that I locked in on a 15% off sale. No indication of when they'll be shipping so if it's too much longer I'm just going to order the set from oldbuickparts.com that I posted above. The way to secure the T-bolts into the door skin pockets is crimp down a little on the open edge of the pocket once it's in place. Doing this, still leaves a little wiggle room while not allowing the T to spin.
  5. This too: http://www.oldbuickparts.com/catalog/1963-up-riviera-group-10-door-door-skin-stud-set-1963-65-buick-riviera-p-27345.html
  6. Ed, yeah that seems like a good lead that I hadn't found yet. The best thing I have found so far is this: http://www.oldairproducts.com/catalog/vacuum-parts/23-0905/vacuum-p-2670.html I spoke to a guy there and had him pull the kit off the shelf. He said it's 7 hoses, all 64" in length and they are all black with a colored stripe (red, blue, white, green, purple, orange and one solid black). The photo for the item, for some reason, is obviously not representative of what it actually looks like. So I'm probably going to order this kit tomorrow and I'll post a pic of what it actually looks like if anyone is interested.
  7. Also, yes Ed. I've seen the kits for Cutlass' available but it doesn't look like they have enough different colors and they're already cut to length and I highly doubt it would magically match up. In the meantime I might have found a source. I'll keep you all posted.
  8. Has any one ever found a source for replacing the color coded vacuum hoses? I'm looking to buy lengths of all the different colors (Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, White and Black) to completely rebuild my vacuum circuit. So far I can only find white and blue. Not interested in pulling used ones off of a parts car. That would defeat the purpose. Not interested in buying black ones and painting stripes on. That's a stupid idea that I've read in other forums that won't work.
  9. More stuff up for grabs: As is. Cracks, rips etc. but they're still in their respective single pieces. Just need cost of packing and shipping and they're yours.
  10. Their customer service is awful and arrogant. It's usually imposable to tell if something is going to fit or not even if they say it will. But, they do have a few items that you can't seem to find anywhere else and some of them are pretty high quality. You just have to be very selective and always wait for the weekend sale promo email to buy something.
  11. Bump... Still wondering if anyone has experience with the Old Parts Source Front End Suspension Kit: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Front-End-Suspension-Kit-1965-65-Buick-Riviera-NEW-Ball-Joints-Tie-Rod-Ends-/191541320040?vxp=mtr
  12. Was it the model they have listed as the 'Desert Cooler?'
  13. Planning to rebuild the front and rear suspension on my '65 (w/AC). Here's what I have in mind so far: 1. Set of KYB Shocks from Lionel in Atlanta already on order. (Already researched all the threads on this and I gather: They WILL fit, they're a slightly smoother ride than a set of Monroe's and only about $60 more) 2. Moog 5030 Front Coil Springs. (From previous threads: sounds like they work just fine and they're reasonably priced) 3. Coil Spring Specialists Rear Coil Springs (other than CSS and OPGI, no one seems to stock or build a set that will work am I right?) 4. Does anyone have experience with this Old Parts Source Front Suspension Rebuild Kit? (http://www.ebay.com/itm/191536276575?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT) This is what I really need some input on. 5. Can anyone recommend a specific rear bushing set? (The price range on available makes of these seems extremely wide and I'm not sure why) Any other input or ideas on how to go about this are welcome.
  14. For a minute I considered ripping out the owner's manual clip from the glove box and installing it into my new one but I just decided not to. Could easily be done with the right size rivet though. And..yeah all the metal parts of the speaker are intact and rust free.
  15. Steering wheel sold. Glove box and speaker probably going in the trash soon. I'm surprised no one needs the fuel gauge. Radio and lighters anyone?
  16. The guy that doesn't have time, I can't even get on the phone. I have an email out to them so I'll see if they come up with something. The person who sold it to me was either unwilling or unable to help me track down the person who did the finish who was in Colorado and has since moved to Florida. I'll give Count's a shot. Hopefully they're not too busy mugging for the camera. ;-) Still open to other recommendations though!
  17. I've been having a hard time with this and I'd like to get it wrapped up. I was rear ended by some one in my '65 Riviera. No injuries and a little damage to the rear end of my car. Mostly just the paint. Here's the complicated part: My ride was given a very custom paint job by one the previous owners. It's a black pearl finish with something like 4 - 7 different types of sparkle flake. It's not something that can be touched up with some factory GM paint. To do it properly it needs to be taken apart and most of the body panels refinished and blended to match. All I need right now is some one who is qualified to simply write up an estimate for it. I've been to three places so far all recommended by the insurance adjustor. One place didn't have the know how to tackle something that complicated, the other didn't want to even get involved unless they were given a guarantee that they would be given the $10 - $15K job ultimately and the other were qualified and willing but do not have the time. I'm reaching out here because maybe some one knows of some one that is familiar enough with Riviera's to know exactly what needs to come off and how much time and labor it will be to be able to give a accurate and TIMELY estimate. Please comment with shops or contacts if you have a recommendations. If nothing here I'll probably move my search to a broader or possibly local forum. Again, right now all I am looking for is some one in Las Vegas who can write up a slip of paper with an accurate and fair estimate for a complicated custom paint job.
  18. Looks like there is one very nearby, Billy. I will definitely look into it next time something like this arrises. Thanks for the tip!
  19. Now that I know what to call them there a scores of them available on Ebay for much more reasonable prices than OPGI's.
  20. Well look-ey what I just found!: https://www.opgi.com/riviera/1965/moldings/hardware/C241073/ As much as I hate buying things from OPGI they do have a few items that no one else seems to have.
  21. Bump. Steering wheel now listed on Ebay.
  22. Meh... It looks like I have located one and it's on it's way but thanks for the idea.
  23. Here's some stuff I am trying to get rid of: I'll entertain offers to cover shipping, packing materials and just a little bit on top. I'm not looking for much in return for it as most of it is not in showroom condition. Also, would consider trades. Right now the only thing I may need is a black glove box surround dash panel that DOESN'T have the right side door hinge tab chipped off of it like they ALL seem to. Here's what I can tell you: One of the cigarette lighters definitely works fine, the front one. The housing on this one is very vehicle specific as it has notches to attach the light bulb. Not sure if the radio works or not but the speaker deteriorates as it's being handled so that will most like go in the trash unless some one has a use for it. The fuel gauge has been tested and works perfectly. You don't see them too often so if you need one grab it. It's also listed on ebay right now. The steering wheel is in great working order just has some cracks in it, the worst of which I showed in the photo. I don't know why anyone would want a dirty old cardboard glove box but hey, it's still in tact and if no one wants it it's going in the trash.
