  2. Checking American Motors, The Last Independent by Patrick Foster, the frontal styling is 1976, it changed for 1977. Some states still titled cars in the calendar year in which they were sold which if this Gremlin was a leftover could have happened in 1977. According to the Standard Catalog of Independents, edited by Ron Kowalke, 1976 was the last model year that the Gremlin V8 was catalogued. Of the 52,941 Gremlins sold that year, only 826 were V8 engine cars. The floor-shifted three speed with overdrive was listed for Gremlins and Hornet Six hatchbacks. No mention of four speed transmissions were included. "The "X" sporty package ($189) available only on the Gremlin Custom, added a full-length body stripe with 'X' decal, painted lower back panel, enine-turned finish instrument cluster overlay, glove box decal, D70 X 14 tires on slot-style wheels and a Space Saver spare tire."

(craigslist.org) Seller's Description: Cool old cruiser great candidate for restoration or enjoy it how it is. Mostly original 1941 Buick Super Series 50 4 door touring sedan. Straight 8 248 C.I. 3 on the tree. Original 6-volt system still with all lights working as they should. I'm told from previous owner paint is mostly original, it appears there have been some touch ups in door jams and other small places. There is some spots where paint has been washed or polished thru over the years on the roof and trunk lid. Car runs, drives, and stops, drove it home about 30 miles when purchased last summer. Interior is complete. Radio doesn't work but it does light up. Clock in dash doesn't seem to work. And I've removed the gear on the speedo cable since it needs changed and can be very noisy when driving. New front and rear sway bar links and rear shock links. Just looking to get the space back in my garage. Don't need to sell but I'd rather someone else enjoy it while I tend to other project. Don't need help selling. Not willing to ship. Cash is king. 5. For Sale: 1969 Cadillac Eldorado - $22,000 - Euclid, OH 1969 Cadillac Eldorado - cars & trucks - by owner - vehicle... (craigslist.org) Seller's Description: Offering this gem of a vehicle from a local collector of vintage Cadillacs. A 1969 Cadillac Fleetwood Eldorado with originally 93,686 miles currently. This vehicle is all OEM stock regarding all aspects of the vehicle from body and drivetrain. The vehicle is 1 of 630 produced with the bucket seat/console and hardtop combinations. Data is based on the Cadillac Archives/Heritage Center in Sterling Heights, Michigan and the Cadillac/LaSalle Club. The vehicle has had only three major updates to bring the emission up to today's standards. Beginning with electronic ignition, harden valve seats so no lead additives are needed to add to the gasoline and 2 week old dual exhaust. By the way the exhaust is Cadillac quiet since the dual exhaust is strictly for the look.I still run high test octane because of the OEM compression ratio of the 472 cu.in engine. All engine OEM labels replacements been painstaking found from reputable resources. The white Cotillion exterior paint finish is not original but is rated at 8 out of 10 with one very little paint chipping underneath the body that is undetected at12 inches. The light flax (beige) interior is like new with a little patina on the upper rear seat. No cracks on the dashboard and this is the only model with the horn rim around the whole perimeter of the inside of the steering wheel. The original radio was replaced with a original looking updated stereo from Classic Car Radio Company. Has brand new (2) Pioneer 6x9 rear speakers replacements and (2) 3x5 foot well front speakers. This vehicle is only used for local car cruises and car shows but can be driven to Columbus, Ohio and back. This vehicle is very reliable, starts and drives excellent with no embarrassing stalls. The vehicle eats up highway miles while getting 12-16 miles to the gallon. No flatbed needed when purchasing this vehicle it can be driven to Indiana or turnpike if needed. Since this vehicle is a weekend cruiser and summer vehicle only air/heat is inoperable. All window and door locks works well. The vehicle is priced accordingly for any short-comings that is less than trailer queen status. So please if you're serious about purchasing this special vehicle and don't mind answering questions at stoplights then you will be happy with all the attention you will receive. (STORY BOARD INCLUDED : VALUED AT $250)APPOINTMENT ONLY, I WILL NOT ENTERTAIN INVITATIONS FOR TEST DRIVES EVERY DAY.THAT WILL NOT BE FAIR TO THE SERIOUS BUYER.LEAVE MESSAGE IF I DON'T PICK UP..... 9. John: I prefer the four-door hardtop as well. It comes off looking quite elegant with that swag C-pillar styling. The B-pillarless four door hardtops were always a favorite of mine, these 1978 Chryslers the last of the breed. The two door hardtops did not lend itself to well to the 'opera' window fad of the times or have the same distinctive looks of the four door hardtops. Indeed, these 1970's Chryslers don't bring a lot of money for as nice a car as they are. I always loved the waterfall classic grille and pendant taillights. Steve

(craigslist.org) Seller's Description: This 47k mile 1978 Chrysler New Yorker is a true American classic! The last of the big-bodied domestic land yachts, you'll find yourself humming "I'm on a boat" as you cruise smoothly along the highway. It's all original, rock solid throughout, and a genuine #survivor! It was parked in barn decades ago by an elderly local gentleman, and I purchased it last year at his estate auction. Now, after considerable effort, mucho dinero, and many shiny new parts, it's fully operational once more.It sports 4 brand-new tires (those nipples aren't because it's cold..) new brake calipers, new battery, a new fuel system that includes a new tank (extremely hard to find now and quite pricey), a new pickup and sending unit, a new mechanical pump and fuel filter, and the OEM Thermoquad carburetor was fully rebuilt. The oil and filter are freshly changed, and I installed new belts. The 400 cubic inch big block also got new spark plugs, a new air filter, and a new battery. Clear title in my name. Located in Maryville, TN. $4,950 OBO Scammers needn't bother - I'm a cop. No, I don't need help listing or selling. 15. "Still a good car, just not a great car".………Ed Many of us could be immensely happy with this merely "good car"...
  16. Model naming and pricing for the eight-cylinder Chryslers was a bit scrambled for 1938-1941, at least relative to what we were used to postwar. As background, for 1935-'36 the Imperial name had been applied to only to the upper three series Airflows. For 1937, the Imperial Airflow C-17 and CW Custom Imperial Airflows were retained as well as the non-Airflow lwb Imperial Custom C-15. New was the $1,100 medium-priced Imperial C-14, essentially an eight-cylinder version of the six-cylinder Royal. For 1938, the medium-priced Imperial Eight C-19 continues along with the lwb C-20 Custom Imperial, the Airflows gone. But, within the C-19 Imperial appeared a single sedan sub-series named "New York Special" at $1,370 with special broadcloth interiors, unique grille treatment and other special amenities. The Imperial Eight C-19 continued the $1,198 sedan. 1939 is when it gets really scrambled: Series C-23 comprises Imperial, New Yorker and Saratoga. The $1,198 Imperial sedan continues, the New York Special becomes New Yorker at $1,298 sedan and the $1,443 Saratoga joins. Each of the latter shared unique grilles, the New Yorker emphasizing luxury two-tone interiors and rich appointments. The Saratoga the 'sport luxury' with leather and Beford Cord interiors. All three models received the Hayes-bodied Victoria Coupes: Imperial (35), New Yorker (99) Saratoga (134). By the way, there were no factory-bodied Chrysler convertibles for the 1939 model year. The lwb C-24 Custom Imperial continues separately. Things get sorted out somewhat for 1940: designated C-26, the plain Imperial is replaced with the Traveler, allowing the Imperial name to be solely associated with the lwb now C-27 Crown Imperial. In the price/appointments pecking order, New Yorker stays put, is joined by New Yorker Highlander with the Saratoga toping out the hierarchy. One last switch for 1941: All Series C-30, the Saratoga takes the entry eight-cylinder position below New Yorker and the New Yorker Highlander takes the top spot. This order continues into the postwar years. The lwb C-33 Crown Imperial continues but one last wild card: based on the C-30 platform, a single Crown Imperial Special Town Sedan for $1,760 was offered, generated 894 sales, then disappeared the next year! All clear on this now, are we?
  17. A.J.: The Golden Hawks got the single Carter WCFB 4bbl carburetor. Some got fitted with the Caribbean dual qual set-up aftermarket but not from the factory. But, given the state of S-P in 1956, searching the archives at the Studebaker National Museum might turn up build sheets for cars that were built that way to order. With Studebaker, never say "never". Steve
  18. Your Nash 880 comparable makes/models for 1931 would be Chrysler Eight Series CD, Studebaker Commander Series 70, Buick Series 60, Auburn 8-98, Willys 8-80D, Graham Special 45 or 53, Hudson Greater Eight Series T, Hupmobile Century Eight Model L. A lot of good choices in the ~$1,300 range for folks to select from that year as the country descended into the economic morass.
