  1. Can anyone here with the part number books tell me if the 1924 sedan running board aprons will interchange on a 1925 touring?

If it were in good original condition I could imagine paying that much, however, it certainly looks like the rear inner fender tubs were replaced (rather crudely I might say) and one has to then wonder what other rust might be lurking. I would certainly take a very close look (and a magnet) before making an offer.

  5. I completely agree D2. For a driver, safety must be number 1. I also think improved reliability may merit a tilt toward reproduction if it isn't obvious that the component has been modernized. Temporary spares in case of break downs are also something to think about. For example a 'modern' coil (cylindrical type found in many cars up until maybe 10-15 years ago) can easily substitute for a bad original in a pinch. A few wires with alligator clips in case ignition switch goes bad, etc.
  6. I got the keys back and tried it and though they are definitely the correct blanks, the key code didn't translate correctly. I had a locksmith take it apart and make the pins work with the new key. I should have sent the lock off to have it done but the end result works. So I give a thumbs up to this source.

  9. Sure, here you go. It appears that the key allows the shaft with the flat blade end to turn. There are two ball bearings (maybe 3/8" diameter) in holes that are drilled perpendicular to the hole the shaft-blade goes in. These balls ride on each side of the blade side of the blade so depending on the blade position, the balls can be forced outward if the blade is turned to align with the ball holes. Apparently this condition pushes on a pin that keeps the sift fork rods from moving. I'll have to look at the patent again...

  12. My luck, I just looked and can't find any number on the lock. I would still like to get a blank or two and see if I can find a locksmith locally who could do it.

  14. Hi Tony, Thank you for the key blank information. When you say a copy of your key, do you mean you have an extra key? I would be afraid it would get lost. If you can take a few high resolution close up photos of one (for e-mail) that would be great.
  15. I know some of you have the key to your touring car transmission. Can anyone please post some good photos of it so we can see what the blank is supposed to look like.
  16. I discovered a small spring loaded cover plate with a keyed lock under it on top of the transmission. I'm guessing this was an anti-theft feature? It is marked Yale, which is still a lock maker (I think). Anyone have any luck finding the correct key (or key blank) for this?
  17. I tried it today KB and it does appear to have worked! I deflated the tire but didn't take it off the rim. It really wasn't that difficult to bend.
  18. Thanks KB, I'll take a look. It will be some time before mine car goes anywhere so I can afford to try it.
