  9. I TOTALLY understand. That's why it took me 16 years to do my Skylark. Whenever I got bored, frustrated, lost interest, busy, or BROKE, I just walked away. The end result was WELL worth all of the pain though. My car is just Gorgeous, wins wherever it goes, and most of all, I know that I did the absolute best that I could. Your car, your decision. Keep us posted. steve Oh, a used harness is STILL 50 years old!
  10. Adam, The wires are still 50 years old. $1300.00 is cheap compared to a fire that burns you car to the ground. BEST money I spent! Why skimp now, after all of this time and work?? Why take the risk???? Done preachin' Ask the others!!! kind regards steve apter FYI...I know NOTHING about electrics. I used YnZ's harness's in my car and amazingly so everything actually works, right down to glove box and trunk lights. They made it easy, and saved me a whole lot of time, not to mention how nice they look!
  11. Adam, I have a pet pieve about guys skimping on wiring when doing nut bolt restorations like yours)or any restoration!). The wiring in that car is FIFTY FIVE years old. JUNK! Major fire hazard, not to mention what may or may not work!!! Why go through all of that work all these years, ans Skimp on wiring!! Spend the extra cash and buy NEW harness's for the entire car. You will be SO glad you did when you are done. I used Y N Z's in Calif. Quality product, and fantastic tech support from Gene and Brian. Great restoration. I have been following since the very beginning!!! Kind regards steve apter 54 Skylark Body no. 793
  12. Just Curious...How many 53-54 Skylarks please. Thanks!! steve apter 54 Skylark body no. 793

  14. I have a 54 Skylark. I used Eastwood's Tank Tone in a rattle can. Had the body shop prepare the outside so it looks new(no dents). Inside can be done by various sources, or you can buy a new one on eBay. The 54 new one was not the same as original. It had a hose connecting the filler to the tank, whereas the original had none.
  15. A very close friend has a 1956 original, unrestored 2 top Bird for sale that is originally from California, and then Florida. It is rust free! He's owned it for about 30 years, is the third owner, and it is a super driver. Color changed in the early eighties to Fiesta Red it is showing a bit of patina, but certainly nothing to detract from its beauty. EVERY scrap of paper from owner no. 2 on up, including original bill of sale from owner no. 1 in Ca. Recent improvements include rebuilt trans and rear end. New brake system and shocks about 3 years ago. Again...ALL receipts provided. Link below to about 100 pics. http://showroom.auction123.com/international_motorcars_of_pittsburgh/inventory/7787/1956/Ford/Thunderbird/P6FH330754.html Car is located in Pittsburgh, Pa and can be seen by appointment. Price is negotiable at $29,900. This is NOT a fire sale. He just wants to move on, and change a face. He has a few other cars that are all driven regularly during the summer months and are stored well during the winter. steve apter 724.325.0000 office 412.638.2647 cell

  18. I know absolutely nothing about wiring. When I did my 54 Skylark I used Harnesses from YNZ's. Gene and Brian were invaluable with help and support after the sale(which was 15 years ago!!). Everything in the car works as designed, and it was amazingly easy with no soldering or cutting necessary. Plug and Play!!!! Highly recommend YNZ's steve apter 54 Skylark Body no. 793
