  1. All the obscure parts I have seen ID'd in minutes and no one can ID the mirror? I admit it may be pieced from several but wow. I am really reaching back in my memory here, but I seem to recall my uncle saying it was from a mercury? Could be wrong...
  2. This was on my 32 Tudor and definitely is not correct. I did get the correct one for my car, but trying to ID this one.
  3. DROVE IT ...finally 2011 09 24 15 51 37 310 - YouTube
  4. Gee...I think my car counts....we keep our old horse in a stable attached to the garage
  5. Thanks all. The piece is pretty solid, I just didn't like the bad weld job. Wasn't sure if the metal was too brittle to re-weld. Restorer32, where are you located? I also have an original taillight bracket that needs to be...."Puddle welded" ?? at least that is what I was told it needed.
  6. Obviously I am not able to do it. What am I looking for someone to do so I know what ot ask for?
  7. This is the splash pan from my 32. As you can see it looks like 3rd grader did a weld on it. Can this be reworked? or am I better off just leaving the 80 year old metal alone?
  8. That is like I was always wondering why a guy in our neighborhood has a 70's corvette under a cover parked in front of his garages door....car never moves...the other day the door to the garage was up and a nicely restored 30's pickup could be seen....I guess he had his priorities straight after all
  9. Off the top of my head.... 69 Mustang Mach must be more than a 69 convertible...... Some of the cars didn't offer the high performance version in a convertible.
  10. it's a Carl Spakler Caddy Shack Special. Comes complete with a dynamite box.
  11. Another overused term.... Barn find. Just because someone parks there old car in a barn or shed, does not make it a barn find. In my opinion the vehicle should have been unmoved for a couple of decades to be a barn find
  12. Went up this weekend and worked on the car. Two gallons of liquid stripper finally got all the loose sealer out. The tank is back on the car. Dd not have time to try it out. Went to put in the new exhaust.... Great news was I have 2 of 3 original hangers and an original clamp. Bad news is I thought I had a solid pipe from the motor to the muffler. Once i took the muffler off I could see that the end had rusted and it looks like about 7" were cut off and the muffler Cramer on. Is explains why the last piece of tailpipe was not on it. Pulled off the three shocks I have (one is Mia) so I can send them to Bill to rebuild. Also noticed the driver rear fender has a repair done to it. You can only see it from inside the fender well. Oh, used the stripper to take the paint if the back bumper. I think it will be good enough to re-chrome. 13. Sharing what I found out. The car does need to go through annual safety inspections. Maryland does not require the inspections so I think I will transfer the title from my dad to me and do the Maryland plates.
  14. Might try calling Lang. They do Model T carbs and are probably knowledgeable about other brass carbs from that timeframe: Lang's Old Car Parts - Model T Ford Parts Specialists
  15. So they are going to safety inspect my 1932 car? Mass does the inspections at service stations right? Is the guy at the inspection station going to have a clue on what to look for? I can see them rejecting it on sight for not having two tail lights.
  16. OK.... we already have the title for my 1932 Ford Tudor done. I have the original (not repainted) 1932 Mass plates. Can anyone walk me through the process. I am unclear whether there is just the one form to use the historic plates, or if there is a regular registration form you do, and then apply to use the year of manufacture plates? Is there a requirement to inspect the car at anytime? I called the registry and the woman read me back what is on the website (which doesn't say). I am in Maryland, and my car is in Mass and titled in my Dad's name (Mass resident). I need to try and do this with him in a single afternoon when I go up next. Just trying to have everything organized. I know I need to get the insurance as well. It is all staying in his name for now. I was going to bring the car down to Maryland to finish working on it, and wanted to have the registration done before I move the car.
  17. Zip, call the registry and explain the situation. If he had one, they should have a record of it. Be sure to take care of it now though. There is a lot of value in having the title. It is a pain otherwise....I know. took me 3 months to get mine. When you get ready to deal with the hotrod, switch over to the Fordbarn forum...more hot rodders over there.
  18. “The determining trait of the enterprising investor is his willingness to devote time and care to the selection of securities that are both sound and more attractive than the average. Over many decades, an enterprising investor of this sort could expect a worthwhile reward for his extra skill and effort in the form of a better average return than that realized by the passive investor.” Ben Graham in “The Intelligent Investor”, 1949.
  19. ....Still trying to convince the HR people on that model B mutual fund for the 401k match.....
  20. Based on your location and the time of the year, you should really get someone to take it to the Hershey show the week of October 3rd. In the mean time, it would be time well spent to see if you can get it running. Go to the Early Ford V8 club on line and look up the clubs near you and email them. You will find people willing to come out and help you get it running just because they like to work on them.
  21. Seems we forget that for many years these 32's were just an old car. Lots of homegrown repairs or improvements slapped on them. Like the wrong year ammeter in my 32 Tudor. I am sure the original broke and that was the one the part store had on hand.
  22. There are a few of us around who would restore it...... What is the pipe coming of the oil fill tube?
  23. Lenn, Not the siding. It seams to have a soft cover that goes to just over the windows? There are dimples to the left and right of the top of the windshield. The original would be a rubber type square that just covers where the wood is (which you can see inside the car).
  24. What is up with the roof? Is there something just setting on it? or is it covered weird?
  25. Lenn, I am sure more knowledgeable people than me will chime in. looks like the horn is missing? Also the battery is usually under the floor. The front bumper looks like a model A bumper? Is there a back bumper? Spare Tire? I would take the plugs out, and after letting some oil set in there (search for directions on starting motors that have set) See if motor will turn over. wilt the plugs out you should be able to turn it by hand using the fanbelt. Knowing if the motor will turn over is key. It is worth more if the motor starts and it moves. The oilpan is probably full of gunk. It all depends on how much work you want to put into it before you sell it. Another huge point is if you have a title for the car. Try to get one in your name before you sell it.
