  1. Probably a case of the specifics in the question. 32 was the first ford production V-8 I believe. Ford was not the first Auto maker with a production v-8 however.
  2. Hemmings moved their July Cruise-in from Thursday to Friday to coincide with the appreciation day. I will be VERY appreciative if I get my car on the road in time to go......
  3. Looking for original "repeal the 18th Amendment" plate topper to go on a driver. Decent shape, but doesn't need to look new. would also consider DC or Maryland based toppers appropriate for 1932 ford
  4. Been a while since I posted. Not much new, but I did get the floorboards in. I continued my "lucky streak" by reading a post about carpet clips in the floorboard of a deluxe. Mine is a standard, but I looked in the old ratty floorboard anyway and they were in there. If I hadn't read the post I would have pitched them. The trans cover is like swiss cheese on one end so it was sent off to Flop for repair.
  5. Well no one has popped up to say it is for thier uber rare bugatti.. must be an old jc whitney?
  6. If the owner is "Waiting to see if they hold air" they are holding air long enough to get on a truck.
  7. I would verify that they can even get to the car with a flatbed. Hate to have them get up there and not be able to get into where the car is. With the economy the way it is, You might find some one in Nebraska with a truck who would go get it cheaper than what a three party deal would be. drive down with a 4X4 with a winch and get a uhaul trailer there. I would get 4 rims with old tires and take them there to put on the car. Much better than dragging it on to a truck.
  8. This was on my 32 ford mounted with one screw as the holes don't line up. Obviously it is not a 32 ford. It is possible that it is a compilation of parts as my Uncle owned a garage when he bought the car in the 60's. The base is a solid metal(not steel as magnet won't stick), holes are 2 3/4 apart. Glass is 2" x 6".
  9. Hey GREAT job! I am so happy with the job you did fixing the cracks and crappy welds. Hard to believe there was a whole chunk missing from one. Used appliance paint on them, worked well.
  10. Not much new going on. Got the motor splash pans repaired then I painded them with rustoleum appliance paint. Rebuilding the tailights, but got the wrong gaskets so I need to reorder them. Little by little.........
  11. "Well honey they didn't tell me you had to pay extra for the rest of the car."
  12. This looks liks a roadster mirror, but did the roadster mirror have a bend in the bracket like this?
  13. "I was just touching up my mascara and suddenly there was this moat in front of me......."
  14. Martha waited paitently for Bob to finish the truck restoration..........
  15. he daily driver and the 32 are both Black.....the only correct color for a car...LOL
  16. I have also done more work on the car itself. Tank is back in and all the fuel lines hooked up. I had issues with fuel not getting to the carb. Finally took the fuel pump out and put it back in. It worked. Fired the car over and it started right up. I also put a new exhaust in. I had to take the pipe that goes from the manifold to the muffler, to a local guy to fix the bend. No way it would work out of the box. Slapped a milk crate in and fired her up and drove her out the door. First time she has been driven in at least 30 years! Video is here 2011 09 24 15 51 37 310 - YouTube I did get my used seats put in as well...shaping up....
  17. Well I was reading the posts on other people's progress and realized I hadn't posted on mine in a while. I only get to work on it once a month or so...progress is slow. I did find a correct rear view mirror...or should I say glass. I was going to just get a repro mirror, but I noticed the original had nice round corners and the repro all had noticibly sharper corners. So I found someone to resilver my glass. I was real happy with the result for about $25 more than reproduction. I did not repaint the frame as I wanted it to match the older interior.
  18. Noah's brother Bubba never quite got his speedboat business off the ground......
  19. I know of a model A that is...yes in a barn. I am waiting untill I am ready for another project to approach the owner. i heard about it from the guy who swapped it to him for some work,
  20. The only judging I forsee is the rouge class for Early V8 ford. The holes are already in the car so it isn't additional damage to put it in. I can take it out the one or two times a year I go to serious shows. If I was doing a frame off type restore i would have the holes filled and leave it off. I am mainly curious as to what the missing plate looks like. I plan on painting it black wrinkle finish rather than the current bronze wrinkle finish as it will look better in the car.
  21. Interesting. there is a heater on Ebay just like it except for the lever attached where my MW logo is. He claims it is from a 40 ford, but I imagine he means it came off a 40 ford. Funny, he is missing the same plate I am.
  22. Dave, I think they are not the same. Mine is silvered glass only, no backing. Also my mount is solid while yours is hollow/rolled. Mine must be ULTRA rare as no one ID'd it yet Probably so common they are laughing at me for not knowing.
  23. This was in my 32 Ford. I am assuming the MW on the emblem is Montgomery Ward? The only other writing on it is "Redmond" on the fan motor. As it was in the car when my Uncle had it, and seems to be a bit uncommon, I am thinking of restoring it and putting it back in the car. I would like any info on when it was from. It also appears to be missing a plate on the side. I would love to find a picture of what that plate looked like. Near as I can tell, it was removable to let out more heat. There is nothing under the plate but openings to the heater coil. Also. with only one wire coming off the motor, I am assuminng the motor grounds through the heater mount to the body? Would a resistor type switch (think light dimmmer) result in a sort of speed control for the fan? or would it be either on or off period?
