  1. Sorry took so long to post these photos. These are of the reverse lock out on my U133 1 Ton. The rod goes though a hole or slot in the base of the shifter. The lever by the handle must be pulled up to allow the transmission to be shifted into reverse. This prevents accidental shifting of the transmission into reverse.
  2. I have a Truck Master Parts Book, it covers both my Trucks U124 & U133. But it has pictures of trucks in the front. I would love to find the model specific parts books for them. Additionally, I have the instruction book for both models. However, publish date is in 1929. The U133 book is the actual one that came with the truck. The original owner had it. The U124 book I picked up.
  3. I will try to get a picture of the thumb lock on the shifter tomorrow. Kept forgetting. On the U124. I have used Merchants Express and Express interchangeably, but incorrectly. I am posting a couple more pictures. I believe Jason provided these to me a while back. Now my truck is 4 cylinder U124. However, they refer to the U124 as Commercial Truck. However, they refer to the body type, as Express. My oldest registration from 1941 lists body type as express. So my net of all this is that the 3/4 ton is not the model Merchants Express, it is Model U124 with an Express body, or what we would call a pickup. The one picture I sent calls the U124 "Commercial Truck" express bodied. Now, as I learn, things could change the next piece of literature I found. Like the club truck book says, 1927 thru 1932, when things got confusing. Hope this helps.
  4. Here are a couple of photos from publications. The Truck picture is from the Dodge Brotgers Club News in the Truck guide. (Assembly of Truck articles available from the club). It lists this Truck as a 1/2 Ton UF 10. However, it is the only picture close to my U124 I have ever found. Long box and window behind door. My truck is not a canopy though. The second picture is of another part of the book showing the mod U's. third photo is from the Truck Master Parts book showing the U models. My U124 was not an export. My other truck is the export, U133. Hope this helps and I do recommend the Truck Article book from the club. It is worth it just to have all the truck related articles in one place.
  5. Just to clarify what I know, and its not much. My 3/4 ton model U124 was referred to as an express in the literature I have. It was always registered as a 1931 and this seems to fall into the serial number range for the U124. Shows only built in 1930 & 31. Mine does have the small window behind the cab.
  6. Stakesides, my radiators on my trucks are dsame as yours. Both Fedders buffalo NY. So honeycomb like yours.
  7. I am still interested if you can get a price and check manufacturing tag info.
  8. Jason, I believe this thumb piece on the shifter is a reverse lock out. That way under normal circumstances one does not put it in reverse by mistake while diving. My U133 1 ton has one.
  9. I do know when you look at various radiators, the overflow tube height and relation to the cap varies some, most likely from years of funnels being placed in the fill hole.
  10. Do you have a photo of the back? I need a driver side bottom connection for a 4 cylinder truck.
  11. Here are a couple picture of my old and new keys.
  12. I don't believe either of the keys I received with my trucks were original. When in the shop today, I will take some photos. They were both extremely worn. One worked hard, the other only worked 1 out of 5 times. This seems to happen when keys are made from old keys and not the code. New coded keys worked great.
  13. Thanks for the replies. I really never worried about it as long as it did not over heat. I have several older pieces of farm machinery, non pressure systems, and always just let them be. Thanks
  14. Both truck are are fitted with the same winged emblem. I included a picture. These were original when I got the truck. I have had several questions from others on these. It seems these are accurate original to the U-133 and U-124 as identified by the parts book. According to the Truck Parts Manual, Merch Exp, U-124, DA-124, U-133, DA-133 all have the same part number 522259. The parts book does not break down by year, only model. I have found many differences for my truck models. Case in point, my U-133 has steel wheels. Many told me this was incorrect for a 1930. We do know the 1930 was being exported to France when it was damaged and sold at auction. It has a kilometer speedo. Parts book list the exception for steel wheels for the U-133 for export only. These models were only available around 30 - 31. They seem to be a bit of an odd duck. Both my truck frames are straight over front axle and humped over rear. Both frames are identical other than length. I have found that finding ads and or literature from 30 - 31 on the U-133 and U-124 is very limited. I do know alot of the parts for these vehicles seem to be specific to these models. King pins, spring bolts etc....
  15. Both my emblems are the winged DB on the 30 and 31. Vacuum tanks are on the fire wall, passenger side. 30 is a Stewart and 31 is a Kinston. Both trucks are very similar, however there are some differences like the vacuum tanks. I will check the frames tomorrow to be sure if they are straight or pocketed.
  16. Both my trucks have chrome radiator shells as well as bumpers.
  17. Both my 1930 U133 and 1931 U124 have the same dash as pictured. However, they are single gauges for ammeter and oil pressure. The 1930 speedo is kilometer as this was an export truck.
  18. What is the correct water coolant level in a non pressure radiator? I have been working on these for years, how ever, it seems they all find their own level. Reason I ask, on my 1931 4 cylinder U124 truck, I believe the level it settles to is lower than I like. I can still see it when opening the cap, but is only about 1/2 full on the top tank.
  19. Just some additional info on engine serial numbers. My model U instruction guides list 4 cylinder "Stamped top left of cylinder block". And 6 cylinder as "Stamped on right side of cylinder block near the rear".
  20. I can see the IM056 on the second picture of your original post. This is the key code for your tumbler. It is usually located on the outside case of the whole assembly. The place I used to make my keys was the "Key Men". www.key-men.com. They were great to work with and both sets of keys I had made were perfect.
  21. Hello. On my 1931 U124 truck, the key number is the IM number. I just sent the number in to a key maker and they were able to confirm original blank shape and cut the key. I had two different vehicles done this way. Original keys were so worn that they would not consistently turn lock. New keys worked like new. I will post the name of the key outfit I used tomorrow.
  22. No manufacturer name on it. Does have the part number 41931 on it with the word Top. Price is relative, probably paid more than I should, but when I did not even have a pattern, and its only the second one I have seen for sale ever, a good de for me. Here are a couple of photos.
  23. Finally, I have found the correct serial number air cleaner for my 1930 truck. Great Christmas present.
