  1. I don't think so. I can find no previously used mounting points and the frame is one piece. No extension. Does not look like the springs were moved. I have the frame measurements for the 165" and this one is proportionally longer to accommodate the 185" Wheel base.
  2. Jason, I believe it is 2DD. In the model chart G44 shows as DD-2-G165. I am assuming this is the model code. I have seen some information from others regarding the sequence of the model codes. Just a thought. I am going to do some measuring tonight of the frame based on some additional information I have regarding back to cab to end of frame etc..... I am still mystified as to how everything is checking out for a 165" wheel base, yet the truck is 185". Not sure we will ever figure that one out.
  3. Update - Got the build card today from Chrysler Historical. Answers some questions but creates others. Motor and Frame numbers match. I dont see a cab number on the build card, certainly nothing that matches my cab number. Also looks like it shows this frame number as a 165" and not 185". I again have crawled underneath the truck and there is no indication of the frame being lengthened or the rear wheels being moved back. So the mystery continues. At least I know this frame goes with this engine. Build date of October 1932. I have included a scan below.
  4. I have used KBS tank sealer on several tanks. Similar to Por15. Kit comes with a cleaner and etch. Worked very well for me.
  5. Great information. Thanks for sharing. G80 is the larger series of my G44. If you see anything on the G44 wiuld be very interested in copies. Thanks again.
  6. Very interesting. What years does the book cover? Is there any info on G series?
  7. I got these running boards with my 1931 U124. They do not belong to the truck as I have the originals. However, the owner insisted they were Dodge. If anyone has an ideas what they go to, I would appreciate it. There are no logos on them. They are wider at one end then the other. They would make someone a restorable pair as there only minor rust through. Would make a great pattern. Thanks in advance.
  8. Thanks for the mailer pictures. I have a mailer for the G44 and tank shows on the side of frame. What is intesting, is it looks like two caps. Or maybe a cap and sight fuel gauruge. It does note that the smaller trucks of the series, 1.5 ton, see to have a cab gauge. My truck does not. It does have the split Amp and oil pressure guauges, but there is nothing on the lower part of the gauge except for the DB insignia.
  9. Thgo2315, do you have a passenger side fuel tank? if so, do you have any photos showing it? I am trying to determine originally of my tank so that we can reconstruct it. Mine has outlet top right side rear as you face tank from passenger side. Drain on bottom left side rear. And cap off center to the left and forward. My truck did not have a few gauge so no spot on tank for sending unit.
  10. The nameplate is different than my other two trucks. I have seen this name plate before in print. Not sure if this one was cloisonné or not like the blue ones. I thing it may have been chrome and paint. Keiser31 had said on an earlier post that these were maybe 30,31, 32 if I recall correctly. But remember, so many different models that there were probably several types, kind of like radiator caps. My guess is in the larger trucks.
  11. Just an update. Funny how a package in the mail can pickup the whole day. Thanks to 30DodgePanel for a heads up on an available cap. One small step in the process. Also, got wondering today that since the Walter P. Chrysler museum closed to the public at the end of December, would I still be able to have my build card researched. Apparently yes. Historical is separate from the museum and is still providing service. Here is a photo of the cap back home on a truck.
  12. I believe this may happen more than we think. Very interesting story. Recently, I rebuilt the top end of a 2005 Durango. Now a days, the Chrysler parts man won't look up parts without a Vin number. I ordered two timing cover gaskets sets before I took the old one in and searched for one based on the parts picture. We found it,last used in early 2004 4.7 V8's. I have had my vehicle since new. So either the parts manuals by vin were wrong or my 2005 got an earlier motor. Can't imagine the fun someone might have 80 years from now trying to sort that out.
  13. Here are some photos of a poster I picked up on the G43,G44 G55. Great graphics. Thought I would share. No mention of any other lengths, however, does mention "Specials".
  14. My 1931 U124 is Kingston oil vac. 1930 U133 is Stewart. I have noticed the different part numbers.
  15. Here is a product I have started using to loosen nuts bolts and stuck motors. It is made by Seafoam and is called Deep Creep. It is available from Advanced Auto and some other places. It tends to be expensive, around a $10 bill for a spray can. It is also available non arosol. It is one of the better rusted bolt busters I have used. Like all of them, you need to put it on and leave it. It is a foaming application so it tends to stay where you put it for the most part. But I have been impressed with its ability to losen stuck motors, valves and nuts/bolts. The headlight bucket is probably very similar. I think mine may have been CM Hall, but the glass is 9 1/4" Twilight #22. I am thinking I may be able to repair the dented one I have, but it is pretty rusted on the bottom, may not be worth the effort if I can find one. I just watched some on the big board, but they were the type with the ring anchor tab at the bottom, and the one I need has no tab. Wasnt sure if I could just remove the tab. Hate to modifty stuff.
  16. Both the U124 and the U133 have the vacuum tank on the passenger (Right) side of the vehicle. G44 has no vacuum tank. Fuel pump on that model.
  17. Remember my U133 is an export, but it was going to France and is left hand drive, so light would have been on drivers side. The G44 has a different mount. It actually mounts to bottom of frame.
  18. On mine, it looks they both had the 90 bend regardless of the end cross member. I think even the G44 is mounted to the two holes in frame. Problem with the trucks is that moving in and out of docks all their lives, the lights and mounts got a lot of abuse.
  19. Well, I secured a radiator cap. Will take a few days to get here. But cant wait. Spent some time today with some nicer weather trying to start the G44. Spent most of the day messing with wire, cleaning ends for good connections. Will have to build a new fuel tank as this one is shot. This is a side mount tank. May be able to find a commercial replacement close enough for now. Will probably need to refresh carb and fuel pump, but was able to get spark finally today with new coil wire and replacing packing in the distributor bolt. As the weather warms here will get to spend a bit more time on it.
  20. Sorry it has taken so long to reply. Been extremely busy here. But here goes. Tail light bracket on my 1930 U133 and 1931 U124 are the same bracket. Someone straightened the 1931, but you can tell it was bent 90 degrees originally. Both are mounted in two holes in rear of frame. Both sides of frame have same holes. I think for export as was said earlier. All three of my trucks are missing what I believe to be the original light. However, the mounting holes on a type B light don't fit in my brackets. I have an idea that the original truck light was a smaller red light without a chrome grill, but have nothing to prove that. I have one that came with the 1931, but have not had time to research. Dodge Brothers plate is on second to last cross member on my 1930 U133. It is a different suze than the later hood side plates. It is also mounted with 5 rivets. 4 corners and in the middle. My plate exists but cannot be read. U133 also has the cross member at end of frame. 1931 U124 has no plate. And has no cross member at end of frame. Frame picture is of the 1931. Also, notice the copper fitting on the 1931 bracket. It has wire in it. Assume some sort of conduit for the light wiring. The 1930 bracket does not have a hole for this.
  21. I follow, and at this point makes sense. Chrysler Historical says it will take 4 to six weeks. Not holding a lot of hope. Hoping to find a specific G43/G44 model parts book.
  22. Jason, Thanks. Wish me luck. Sending to CHRY Historical today. Lets hope they can find some info. Didnt have much luck on my U models, but they are the DXXXXXX serial numbers. Hoping we have better luck this round.
  23. I will get some pictures of my brackets.
  24. Does anyone know if for 1932 if the frame serial member is also on the cab, and if so is it on a plate or stamped directly into the cab sheet metal? I have a dash data plate but it does not have the serial number, it's just a capacity plate. No toe kick plate present. I have the cab body number but have not been able track down a serial on the cab. Just wanted to add, on Ebay there was listed a sale flyer for a 1932 G80. Of interesting note, The flyer says "Available in standard wheelbase lengths of 146, 170, 195 and 220 Inches - other wheelbases at extra cost - the new G80 Series Dodge heavy duty truck can be had with either standard bodies or any type of special equipment." Too bad I cant find a sales doc for a G44, lol. :-)
