  1. I would be interested in the penlight and keys if you decide to sell them. Send me a PM and we can discuss prices privately. Labrat.
  2. 901163 Maui blue and Gray has the filter pointing out at an angle and is changed from underneath. Labrat.
  3. Val and I will be there in the '91 Maui blue. The Vette is sulking. Never been dissed so bad. Labrat.
  4. I'll take the penlight and key blanks if you decide to separate. Labrat
  5. Well, bad news. The trip turned into an overnight trip instead of a great road-trip. The car was greatly less than I was expecting. We flew back this morning and left the car there. I won't go public with my observations as I don't need a lawsuit and in this day and age that is so easy to get with printed statements. So the search goes on for a "Mint" '91 Maui Blue Reatta and a $1600.00 wasted unless you really wanted to eat a meal and spend night in Denver. Think of me if you see a Maui Blue in your travels. Regards, Labrat.
  6. I was able to repair the damage. I sanded with 400 wet paper and cleaned it up. It still looks like brushed Aluminum and did not go shiny on me. I'll redo the clear when I do the two chipped spots. I'm going to get base coat color and clear coat in spray bombs and spray the area. I don't care for touch-up paint in a bottle as it never blends well enough for me. Thanks to everyone for the tips. Labrat.
  7. I'm flying out in the morning to Denver with the new owner to pick up a '91 Maui Blue with all options and 27K miles. We'll be driving it back to Sebring Fl. over the next few days. The cars are twins with his about 675 numbers older. The new owner is a collector and good friend of mine. This beautiful car will be going into his daily driver pool. Only took about a hour of driving to send him into the ranks of those who understand there's nothing like a Reatta on the open road. The car is already in the registry. Labrat.
  8. My buddy ,Kevin, and I entered the Cannonball Baker Run in '79 (I think it was '79) and then withdrew after they announced the new format which killed the Banzai, fastest car wins, format. We we're going to run the Miura and probably would have wound up with no licenses for a year so the change probably did us a favor. Even so I would have loved to do a coast to coast all out run. Labrat.
  9. The only line I remember was when he ripped the mirror off the windshield in the Ferrari Daytona and said "Whats a behind me is a not important" Enlighten me? Blood Pressure is now down to 280 an hour later. I'm getting better. Wife decided to go to town for awhile. Who says women aren't smart. Aaaaaaaargh!!!
  10. My wife just lightly scratched in several places my mint rear bumper by backing into the Reatta with her van. Is there any way to buff out the scratches. I can repair the two chipped paint places in the bumper. Real tense here tonight. Aaaaaaargh!!!
  11. Having been blessed in life with a good career and cooperative wife I've owned 2 Jags, a Porsche, a couple of Lamborghinis and 4 Vettes for personal cars. I say this not to brag but to give some comparison and of all my "toys" over the years and the Reatta has been my favorite car to drive, especially on a trip of several hours. It is the perfect compromise of all things I want in a "personal" car. I sold the '90 Reatta in a weak moment, but, it won't happen with the "91 I enjoy now. My heirs can enjoy it some day. Great thread, I hope it runs. Thanks, Labrat.
  12. Yes, the speakers fit perfectly. I've been told the front speakers can be replaced with 6X9 speakers with some cutting. If, it's not a big deal, I would go with 4 of the Kappa Infinity 6x9 speakers. The rear speakers are much sweeter than the smaller front speakers.
  13. http://forums.aaca.org/f116/replaced-factory-radio-tape-player-speakers-264844.html This is a recent thread I started. Perhaps it can help you with your problem. I really like the USB port on the Alpine radio. I loaded up a 4 g. flash drive with several hundred songs for my wife and she is delighted with her own library of music Our local stations are beyond bad and she doesn't care for XM Radio that much. Maybe I should tell her it carries more than Cardinals baseball and the Playboy channel. Good luck. Labrat.
  14. Incredible! The guy who did he damage actually knew some English! What is Miami coming to! Next you'll be telling me you saw a billboard with English writing in the city limits. All facetiousness aside good look on your repairs. I feel your pain!
  15. Great post. Are there more sources on the history of the Reatta? Thanks, Labrat.
  16. I just checked the amount of movement to activate the lights and it took at least a inch of movement. The pedal returned to the top each time I checked it. Engine was off. I wish I had pulled up on it awhile ago when the lights were on but I think it wouldn't have mattered. I'm leaning towards a failing switch versus the out of adjustment possibility. Is this a dealer available part at this time? I did score a new set of mud flaps last week from the local Buick Store for a backup for my car. Here in Fl. with everything sand I'll keep a set on the car. They actually look good on the car to me. Different strokes...
  17. This intermittent problem started after tinting the windshield 2 weeks ago and I suspected moisture in the light switch as the tinter used a lot of water while installing the film. Its been too long for that now in this Fl. heat so it must be something else. Also, the high mount brake light doesn't stay on with the reg. brake lights. It isn't related to the switch on the console that runs the fog lights and rear lights as they cycle off and on properly with the switch. Pressing the brake pedal doesn't solve the problem but disconnecting the battery does. Almost like a reset command to the computer? I'm open to suggestions for a fix. The car is a '91 Coupe with 32K miles. Thanks, Labrat.
  18. If you are looking for a cover for indoor use only I have never found anything better than the "TYVEK based covers I used on my collection cars. They look like a paper bag and not pretty like the Beverly Hills Co. covers but nothing else breathes and keeps dust off the cars like they do. My first impression after unpacking my first one was "Boy, did I get taken" I couldn't have been more wrong. Eventually every pre-existing cover I owned was replaced with a TYVEK cover. Love them! Labrat.
  19. The cost on this is about $25 inc. S/H my local Advanced Auto Parts gets $59. Should I have one of these around for a spare before the next road trip? Mine are original but with 32K miles not a lot of use. Should mileage or age be the factor for replacement before failure? Mine are dry with no leaking or oozing. 20. I have the same gaps Kevin which is why I want to fix mine. I took the original speed nut to a hardware store and couldn't find a screw that fit properly. I'll check the local auto parts stores and if that doesn't work I'll just change out the speed nuts to solve that problem. Labrat.
  21. I just checked an original set of bushings and mine are .0485" or 1.2319 MM in diameter. That is 1/2'' in govt. work. These bushings are an almost exact fit so I wouldn't guarantee that a .500" diameter rod would fit. Take you micrometer with you and let us know what you find out. Labrat.
  22. I though I would add some more related info that was requested by a fellow member. The harness you will need is from Metra and it is part #10-1858. It is 4 female clips that connect to 21 colored wires that I had to connect individually to the Alpine harness. In other words no socket to socket connections. Darn! The alpine was about 1/2 " too long due to the large heat sink on the end. I removed part of the plastic "back wall" that was in my way. There is a screw that helps hold this area and I did not have to take it out so the strength of the back side area is still there. The removal caused no harm or weakened anything. It also gave me more room for that big bundle of wires and the longer than needed antenna adapter that is required. If you have any other questions please ask. Labrat.
  23. Deutsches Institut für Normung e.V. (DIN; in English, the German Institute for Standardization) is the German national organization for electronic standardization who created the standard dimensions for radios worldwide. Hence a radio may be a 1, 1.5, 2.0 etc. size and everyone knows how big a hole to make.
  24. My '91 manual says, motor connects to regulator with 1/4" X .968" rivets and to use caution as the regulator lift arm is under tension from the counterbalance spring and can ruin your day. Labrat.
