  1. I think I was 7 or 8 year old when the cars made their first impression on me. I was skipping along on a tricycle on the sidewalk at a pretty good clip that belonged to a younger sister staring at the ground when all of a sudden I hit the neighbors Cadillac the was parked across the sidewalk head first. Knocked me out for a minute or two. And cars still continued to be at the forefront as I grew as once again a year or two later I was cruising home on my bike from a friend’s house way back in our subdivision, again at a pretty good clip. This time though to make it interesting I decided to have some fun and decided that I could get home by following the centerline joint in the pavement with my elbows on the grips and my hands next to the gooseneck and my forehead resting on my hands steering my way home following the cracks in the pavement. This time I didn’t catch the crack that ran off center and I ran directly into the back of a Pontiac and flew up on the roof. I know I was out again for a moment or two and the lady came out and got me down and called my mother who came and picked me and the bike up. Both of those incidents really were the first old cars to leave an impression on my mind. Don’t ask me who paid for the damages for either car, I don’t recall how that worked out. Those bit of fun true facts aside, I guess though my real interest in old cars first began after watching the movie “The Great Race”. It also helped though to grow up in a Chrysler family, from Fleet Managers to Engineers my interest in cars and all things mechanical sprouted at an early age. It didn’t fully take off until I had met Keiser when I was in my early teens though that my true old car interest grew. Some of my best times were to help put his ’31 Dodge together and later when we would cruise way out in the back roads of Michigan in his ’31 Dodge looking for old cars on Farms and such. Scott…
  2. Roger, But it’s nothing but a lump of metal? I guess one needs a good bit of imagination during this step in the construction process. One can only imagine what it really takes to create these individual parts. I’m sure without question it will turn out proper in the end. Oh, and just to let you know, these little peeks into the part in process are quite interesting in themselves. Scott…
  3. I too am very much enamored in the adventure(s) that this Dodge has had with its owners. It would have to be mostly fun for sure. Some day maybe I may be able to venture out on the road in a like fashion, one never knows. Great little story and want to pass on my wishes of nothing but a fun and safe journey. Scott…
  4. Roger, I’m beginning to thinking that there has to be some sort of trick photography going on here. I’m thinking too that you in your final reveal you’ve worked out something with Barry Wolk and we are going to see some clandestine pictures of his Mark II. If it turns out not to be the case maybe the truth will finally come out in the end through an innocent WikiLeaks posting that was passed on to someone within Julian Assange’s group. Humor aside, these little peaks at the many small parts of the whole has most if not all of us that are following along mentally visualizing and anticipating the final product. Evidence to date sure paints a wonderful picture. With that I too would like to pass on my wish to you and your family a Happy, Healthy and Productive New Year. Remaining patient but observant, Scott…
  5. Mike, Real quick on my TR3A, it is a project car that I picked up real cheap from a friend several years ago. Since I purchased it I'd picked up new parts to completely redo 100% of the frame/suspension. It came with fiberglass front fenders and I picked up new handmade ones from the UK (they are amazing) along with new floor pans and inner/outer rockers and numerous other parts. There are still a few odds and ends to acquire yet but I am at least a year from begining this project. Now back to your Model A, please keep us all up to date as it comes together. I along with I'm sure a lot of other members here will be interested to see this project evolve through it's completion. Scott...
  6. I agree, very nice roadster... Also, I believe that the green color is what the originally color for my car might be. Do you know if it is the origial paint? Scott...
  7. Mike, <O:p</O:pThanks for posting the pictures. Awful lot of work into that Model A for sure and although it’s a bit different it’s really a sharp looker, very nice. Scott...

  10. What you get when the AACA hobbyist that has a passion for both power and performance along with the vintage vehicles of yesterday has a nervous breakdown.
  11. Photos of successful design students final projects can be found everywhere but seldom do we see the projects that fail. Here we have a rare photo of one student that failed to understand the art of taking and blending classic design queues into his project.
  12. Again, I originally started this thread out of curiosity and concern with a potential problem. I’m not a closed minded person, most of the time , and am always open to differing opinions and ideas. Zone Alarm had received high marks in past years although I admit that in the last year or two I’ve not followed the yearly reviews of security products. So I spent a bit of time this morning doing some reading and Zone Alarm it appears has slipped and takes a hit for not always detecting all new malware that enters the www in a timely manner although they also report that the firewall can make up for it. In that there are more expert individuals than I out there I’ll concede that it does appear that I obviously use an inferior security product according to today’s ranking. That being said and I’ll close any further comments on this thread and address the problem being detected/reported on my side. Just one last update for what it is worth on my analysis. I’d identified that the script that is being loaded is from a third party site attached to the AACA page(s) and is referenced to the following www address: http://http.cndlayer.com/drivingreveneue/DR_v4.js. Thanks to those that have participated/responded. Scott…
  13. Hopefully I’m going to answer all questions and respond to all comments made. First on the computer; I run Windows XP Pro and am current on all Windows patches. I use Zone Alarm Internet Security Suite which is an Internet Firewall and Virus package along with e-mail protection and my Virus updates are current. Just for some additional info, my background is well over 20 years in IT and computers are not foreign to me. I acknowledge that there will always be strong Mac vs PC opinions out there and am ok with it. Personally in all my years within the IT field I’ve not ever found myself challenged or exposed with Windows. Could there be an issue with the virus list that I received from Zone Labs? Sure, couldn’t and wouldn’t argue that possibility. I do know that the virus being called out started to appear just within the last two weeks and although the scans always quarantine it I finally decided to identify where it was originating from hence this posting. Peter to answer your question, I hope. I have the AACA.org bookmarked as most probably do and when I go to the AACA site I can run a scan on my Temporary Internet files and find nothing. After I press the button to select and enter the Forums and right after the main Forums page appears I can run a scan on my Temporary Internet files it will always return the identified virus mentioned at the front of my post. This occurs every time I enter the main forum page. I’ve scanned after going other sub forums or reading and posting to threads without the supposed virus appearing. I hope that this covers everyone’s comments and questions. Scott…
  14. While not trying to alarm anyone here, while scanning my PC for virus it has encountered a virus most every day the past several days. And as I only visit a 4 or 5 sites each day I decided to spend the last 2 hours and try to narrow down where I might be picking this virus up. As it turns out the virus that my scan analysis turns up appears to be from this site, AACA.org. The Scan after entering the AACA Forums returns the following info: HEUR:Trojan-Downloader.Script.Generic was found in C:\Documents and Settings\SS\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\PSEMNX7S\DR_v4[1].js on 12/12/2010 11:29:12 Again, this occurs just after selecting the Forums from the main AACA page. This really surprised me. In doing my analysis I’d visited each site that I visit each day and step through my normal activity performing a scan of my temporary internet files after signing on or selecting a new page. The actual object that is being called out as the virus being produced from this sight is the DR_4[1].js noted in the above scan info line and appears to be loaded when I open up into the Forums. What I’ve elected to do and will do so at least for now going forward is to perform a scan after entering the Forums here on the AACA.org site as it is then put into Quarantine. Peter, is there a way that this be checked out? Scott…
  15. Keiser, I sure recall the pictures, I believe we were in our late teens when these pictures were taken. It’s too bad that you don’t have any from inside, specifically of what I believe was an original 1917 Dodge Touring Car that I got to sit in, what a monster it was. It was a great place and it was too bad when it closed up. It was a different time for sure. Oh, and for the record I’m not the one with the hat. Thanks for the chance to stir up some memories. Scott
  16. John, <O:p</O:pIf that is a taste of what’s there it would be wonderful to see the whole of it, especially if one were to be a Chrysler Products fan (such as myself). If I am correct some of these cars were part of the Burchill collection near Port Huron in Michigan, if so I’m sure that I may have seen some of these with Keiser31 back when we were kids. It does sound like some collection. Great that you could go, see and have the opportunity to take the pictures that you did. Just a bit envious on this end. Scott…
  17. Ok, this might surprise some here but I'd not seen or read a Cars & Parts magazine. That being said does this magazine focus on a different make/model in each issue? What I'm driving at are there issues that cover topics that I would find of interest with respect to my '31 Dodge DG 8 Rumble Seat Coupe? Don't know unless I ask. Scott...
  18. Ok, just received mine 15 minutes ago. The wrapper is intact and I noticed that the mailed date on it was Nov 15th, so if I subtract Thanksgiving and the weekends that's 15 business days. I'm thinking they actually may have used a mule to make my delivered, it must be one of those unpublicized cost cutting trial situations. It will for sure be tonights reading. Scott...
  19. Keiser, <O:p</O:pYes, the ’68 Plymouth Sports Fury, that’s a fun memory. If I recall correctly you sent pictures, I said I want it, I sent you the money and you picked up the car before I arrived. We played with it for a few days making sure the brakes were good, gave it a tune up and thought that we had it all set to go. Before we went to the DMV to register it we had to have it inspected and they found that the license plate lights didn’t work and we had to work that out right there and they looked it over again and gave it the seal of approval. The next afternoon we took off headed for Vegas and had to pull over to the side of the road in the middle of the desert when due to road work and heavy traffic the car was starting to get hot. Sat there for a couple hours with the top down staring at the stars, never saw them again that way. Made a brief stop in Vegas, lost a few dollars we didn’t have to loose and ate at the Denny’s. Had more problems going through the mountains, the car with all the smog equipment didn’t like climbing the hills. I remember that we pulled over and turned the distributor a bit and took off again. Then there were the fish flies in Colorado and hardly being able to keep the windshield clear enough to see. We drove straight through from Colorado back to Michigan. Yes it was a trip to remember (not as good though as the MGA/Jeep trip). In the end the car stayed at a friend’s for several months before I ended up selling it due to separation/divorce. It was a real solid car, somewhere I might have pictures around here and if I come across them I’ll post a couple. Scott…
  20. No, not yet here in Michigan and I'm pretty sure the mail person is not interested in old cars, but then again maybe it would make a good holiday gift??? I'll remain patient and keep watch for it...
  21. Bernie, Just a quick note that I finally pulled together and loaded pictures of my '31 Dodge DG 8 Coupe in the members gallery. Scott...
  22. John, My tuner must be broke or I tuned to the wrong channel as I never caught the episode where you covered the results of your discussion with the painter. Was there a result to report? Scott...
