  1. Here's the trailer for "The Last Ride." It looks they spend a lot of time in a baby blue Caddy but I didn't see your Buick.... The Last Ride Hank Williams Trailer 1 - YouTube
  2. I found this photo at.... The Old Motor | Old car photos. They have a few thousand more great old automotive pics so check them out if you want.
  3. This movie is one of the top 10 comedies in the history of motion pictures in my opinion. I was 11 years old when it came out and it's the first movie I remember seeing in a theater....
  4. "I wish someone would invent an affordable cell phone so I could call my boss...."
  5. I was curious as to whether you flew up to Washington and looked at the car before you bought it or if you just took the seller's word regarding its condition. If you bought it without seeing it first was it in the condition you expected? (I bought a '49 Buick last year on Ebay without seeing it first and unfortunately found out that the seller had misrepresented it in several areas which is why I asked.) I enjoy reading these types of threads and hope you'll keep the pics and info on the car coming....
  6. Is the '48 Lincoln still available?
  7. Changing the oil and filter every 2 1/2 weeks would be a real PITA....
  8. Here's a pic of the '61 Classic I sold a couple of years ago....
  9. We drove it back 190 miles from Muncie to Louisville in 3 1/2 hours on Thursday in the rain with no problem. I'll take it to Walmart in the morning and get a set of Goodyears for it. Thanks for the comments....
  10. I did a little research on date codes and it looks like in the year 2000 they went to a 4 digit date code instead of three. The code on the Michelins on the '86 Regal I just bought is "261" which I believe stands for the 26th week of 1991. The date code on the Goodyears on my '61 Mercury, which I bought in June, range from "5110" (51st week of 2010) to "1911" (19th week of 2011). There is a small amount of cracking on the Michelins but plenty of tread. According to the Carfax on the Buick, it had 48,000 miles on it in February 1994 when the title was transferred from the deceased husband to his wife. That means she put 4500 miles on it in 17 years because the car had 52,500 miles when I bought it in Muncie, Indiana on Thursday (and then drove it 190 miles back to the Louisville area). I'd like to keep driving on the Michelins for a couple more years. What do you guys think? (By the way, I ordered the plastic spacer pieces that go between the bumpers and the body and also a can of yellow beige paint so that problem should be fixed by this time next week.)
  11. I decoded all the codes which took over an hour since I wrote all of them down. The 2.14 rear axle ratio was kind of a surprise....
  12. Thanks for all the info, NTX. So Olds made the 307? I remember that several divisions of GM were swapping engines back then. Can you tell me what color the vinyl roof is and what if any options the car has? Is the "62" interior standard for the Limited or an option? I don't think there's any ethanol here in Kentucky but I'm not sure about Indiana....
  13. Thanks for pointing that out. Do you know where I can find a site where I can see what all those codes stand for? I'd like to know what is standard equipment on the '86 Regal Limited and what if any options it has....
  14. The Limited comes with a 5.0L (307) with a 4 barrel. Thanks for the kind words, Paul. I looked under the hood on the passenger side and there was no data plate there. Then I spotted it on the driver's side. I tried to take a picture of it while holding a flashlight and this was the best of the 12 pics I took. There's a "54L" with "lacquer" next to it so that's the code I was looking for. Here are the other numbers in case anyone wants to decipher them for me.... G-11B 4GJ47 051290 62D AM6 CB4 58T 17 Thanks again for the help....
  15. There is no spare tire cover. The donut spare is on the passenger side of the trunk in an upright position against the side.
  16. Yesterday I went for a 190 mile drive in the rain up to Muncie, Indiana and bought an '86 Buick Regal with 52K original miles on it. (I got the urge to buy a clean, original, low mileage Buick after seeing the thread on the '80 Skylark.) The Regal (Limited) was owned by an elderly woman who passed away recently and is in really nice shape. Anyway, I'm trying to figure out what color it is. The paint code is supposed to be on this sticker on the inside of the trunk lid. I believe it's called "yellow beige" which is supposed to be code 54 or GM code WA8525 but neither number is on this sticker. Does anyone know where else I can look or is it on this sticker somewhere as stated by several automotive paint web sites?
  17. Thanks. The standard engine on the Limited is the 5.0L (307) with a 4 barrel. I ordered the filler panels from a company in Florida. They weren't cheap-$269 plus $30 for shipping....
  18. Now that I know what they're called I can start looking for them. Thanks, Mike....
  19. While perusing the ads on Cars.com yesterday I saw an ad for a very clean and original '86 Regal Limited with 52K original miles. It was up in Muncie, Indiana so I called the owner and got some info on it and liked what I heard so I cruised 190 miles up there with the boyfriend of a co-worker of my wife today and bought it. It runs great, has a nice set of Michelins on it, and everything works except the power antenna. It was purchased new by an elderly couple who put 48,000 miles on it by 1994 when the husband died. His wife passed away earlier this year and it looks like she only put a little over 4000 miles on it in the last 17 years. Anyway, the only thing wrong with it is those plastic pieces between the bumper and the body are cracked and need to be replaced. There's a piece on the front under each pair of headlights and another piece in the back that runs the length of the bumper. Can someone please tell me what those pieces are called and where I can buy them? Thanks....
  20. You and I both know he (she?) will never get that much for it. I'll be surprised if someone pays $5000 for it. You know a lot about old cars. What's the most you would pay for it?
  21. Good luck. At that price you're going to need it....
  22. Put it in an auction on Ebay with a reserve of what you think it's worth. If it doesn't reach the reserve you don't have to sell it....
  23. Out of all the responses in this thread only one person mentioned using it as a daily driver....
