Guest DAVID RALPH
I am looking to have a couple of old Valve Covers hot tanked. I am having some trouble finding a company that will do this. Anybody know someone in Chester County or Lancaster County Pa. they could recommend? Dave
JACK M
Most machine or engine shops should have one. Like those that are in the back room of a big older auto parts store.

Car Geek
If you can't find any place very local try Wengers of Myerstown, 251 S Race St, Myerstown, PA 17067. It's not too far from Lancaster, price is great and their turnaround time is very fast.
Spinneyhill
What do you mean by "hot tanked"? If you mean degreased and paint stripped in a tank, caustic soda will do it. I bought one in a can labelled for drain cleaning; it was still caustic soda = lye = sodium hydroxide. I just used a plastic tub (HDPE?).
Jim Bourque
Scrape the heavy stuff off of them, spray them with oven cleaner and let sit. After a couple cold adult beverages, wash with a pressure washer. Jim

JV Puleo
The old fashioned "hot tank" was just a heated caustic soda bath. You could do it yourself - though I don't recommend that. Lye (i.e.) drain cleaner is essentially the same thing, as is oven cleaner and for a small part much easier to do - and a lot safer.
