I have a '71 boat tail GS with Pearle Beige Poly exterior, Rosewood vinyl buckets interior, and brown vinyl top. I was wondering if it was possible to get the production numbers of how many '71 GS were available with this rare color combination. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

It appears there were 3175 GS cars produced in 1971 (out of a total run of 33,810 cars. Not what I would consider a rare or low production vehicle, seems like you are reaching for straws with the paint color.

I own a vehicle that only had 34 others produced the same year as mine. Some might consider that rare, but one just sold on ebay today.

Thanks for the feedback. I know they only made around 3K GS that year which is about 10% of the total rivs. I also know this color is one of the rarest only about 12% of the totalsI were made. At that ratio there would be less than 350 GS made. I also know rosewood interior is the rarest with only about 5% avail. If it follows the pattern, mathematically I'm guessing there were less than 175 or so cars produced?

I have a nice 2 owner 77K miles  1971 Buick Riviera boat tail GS with Pearle Beige Poly exterior, Rosewood vinyl buckets interior, and brown vinyl top. I was wondering if it was possible to get the production numbers of how many '71 GS' were available with this very rare color combination. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

There is no way to determine how many were made in this exact color combination. I can give you the following information: Only 2522 71's were made with the Pearl Beige code 70 exterior Paint which was only 7.46% of the total production. 6,859 had the Dark Brown vinyl top which was 20.3% of total production. 2,146 had the custom vinyl buckets in Rosewood trim #697 which was 6.3% of total production.

Pearl Beige was the 5th most popular color, the rarest is Tealmist Gray #16 which only 11 were made.

I may be contrary, but I don't grasp the concept of trying to make something "rare" by narrowing down the individual components. In the end they still built over 33,000 Riviera's that year which does not make it a rare car.

I owned a 1964 Studebaker Avant, only 809 were produced, 281 of which had the R-2 engine. Narrow it further by those cars that had a 4 speed transmission and had the late production features and color mine did and perhaps there were a dozen or two similar cars. I never tried to make the car "special" via its options, the vehicle spoke for itself.

Maybe the fellow just wants the info for his own curiosity without everyone jumping down his throat about if it's rare or not. And people accuse me of instigating, you guys are worse as you are belittling his vehicle.

post-102025-0-20362400-1435769941_thumb.There is rare and yes that does not always mean desiralble. You GS is a very cool car and rare as to how many are probably still around. I took my 73 Century Gran Sport Stage 1 Sun Coupe to the 2015 Va Beach and won my 1st Junior. :) This car is one of 728 Gran Sport S1's produced and 1 of 45 S1's Sun Coupes produced, 1 of 24 w/electric sunroof operation, also 1 of 4 Special Company Order (SCO) (Color unknown) paint. It is basically 1 of 1? Just throwing some #'s around.   post-102025-0-20362400-1435769941_thumb.
