A little interesting Gemmer history

Thank you Mike That is some very interesting history there My 2249 Senior 6 has a Gemmer Steering box I have just recently recond the box with new bushes and some machining to fit a modern seal in the sector shaft housing The article that was posted several years ago "Hot Rodding A Gemmer Steering Box" was very helpful What was once a very well worn box is now as good as new Ron

The machinery used by Gemmer to manufacture steering boxes was sold to a company in South America. The Franklin Club contacted this company and they have manufactured the internal parts for about 100 Gemmer Boxes used on 1930 and 1931 Franklins.

Interesting.. When I had my '25 DB steering box apart I checked to see if a modern seal could be adapted to the sector shaft. The long brass bushing (also used for gear mesh adjustment) has a spiral lubricant groove running end to end which provides a very nice leak path...
