Hi Mike - congrats on the purchase. You'll enjoy the forum - lots of good advice and experience here - and people are pretty active and get back to you on questions. They've certainly rescued me many times!

Do you have a shop manual - it would be your next smartest purchase!

Look forward to hearing more from you

Dear Mike:

Since I got mentioned, I'll add my two cents worth. Your decode of the 6B8 part of your serial number is correct. However, the Buick numbers started at 001001 and contnued from there. Therefore, 016220 is the 15220th car built at Arlington in the 1955 model year. The vehicle was assembled in March of 1955.

I hope this helps.

Dear Mike:

I'm also the South Central Regional Director of the Buick Club of America. I note you are from Spring, TX. I'd like you to consider joining the North Texas Chapter of the BCA, which is in and around the DFW ara. We have a policy that your first year of chapter membership is free, so you can't beat that price. There are guys in our chapter who have forgotten way more than I'll ever know about 55's and are still 10 times ahead of me.

Now you've gotten a personal invite from the BCA guy for a 5 state area !!

Hey Dave

Spring is Houston area, so the Lone Star Chapter would be more appropriate <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

Mike

I live just down the road (by Texas standards) in Seguin and have 3 55 Centurys along with parts cars, parts and literature...any help is yours for the asking. Contact me through my profile (click on "old-tank").

Hi Mike and welcome to the Buick world and the forum. Being from the Northeast all my life, your car doesn't look to rough to a guy like me. Looks like you bought yourself a very nice & desirable car. The body on it looks great! You've come to the right place for the answers. Good luck with your project.

Dear Mike:

Sorry about the chapter bum steer. I was thinking of Springtown. Remember that I said that there were guys who know more than I ever will about 55's? "Old Tank" is probably the best of all of them, and he's invited you to e-mail him. Please do so, he's also one of the club's really nice people !! Also, as regional director, check out the Lonestar Chapter, Bill Stoneberg is director and a good friend, and also very knowledgeable about Buicks in general.

Regards, Dave Corbin
