Hey Centurion: Seattle Forum Coffee Clutch

Lamar's post about losing a friend tonight is sad, but so typical. How many of us have lost a close friend or family member because we didn't take the time to stop and spend a few hours together when we could? In my own case, when my Dad was in the end stages of cancer, I drove the 8 hours overnight to get to his bed at the hospital. I arrived in the city at 4 AM and my wife asked if I was going to go to the hospital. I said we need to get the kids inside to bed or tomorrow would be hell. I'll go first thing in the morning. I knew when the phone rang at 7 am , without answering it, that I missed my chance. I still beat myself over this in some way every day, since 1992.

Seriously, we really should do something about making it a point to meet each other in person at Seattle, and all future Nationals. Centurion, what do you think? Can we get a meeting room and time on the National's Agenda for forum members to have a definite time and place to meet and greet? I know I would do my best to be there to meet all my Buick friends here...

Hi John, I appreciate your thoughts about this.

One thing I will do for sure is reserve a couple of the tables for our forum members at the XXX Drive-In for dinner on Thursday evening. Derek has pointed out, however, that not everyone has signed up for this event. (I will say, however, that it should not be a problem to participate in this tour at the last minute. Be sure to see the XXX advertisement in your new December Bugles.)

I will also check the detailed schedule and room availability. We'll make it happen. Because of the various business meetings and tours planned during the course of the meet, we are unlikely to accommodate everyone's schedule, but we'll try to maximize the likelihood of catching everyone who's interested. I'll get back to you all on this -- not immediately, but well in advance of the meet.

Thanks to all who plan to come. We'll have a wonderful time connecting with the folks we've met and grown to appreciate on these forums. Oh, and there'll be lots of cool Buicks, too. We're seeing a great response out of California, and a large percentage of the expected cars have never before been shown at a Buick National.

Every time you go to a different area of the country , you see Buicks you have never seen before. I haven't missed a national yet, and the California meets were a revelation! I saw Buicks I did not know even existed. I hope you can set something up so we can put faces to the names on the forum. I plan on going to the XXX Drive in, and hopefully will see some of you there. We need some way to identify ourselves. Maybe a small ribbon hanging from our name tags?

Hey Gang,

I sure would like to get up to Seattle for the Nationals but at this point it does not look like a possibility. Lana says we should fly up if I do not want to drive because she would like to see the Pacific Northwest. I have oftentimes told her how beautiful it is up there and of the good times I had there. I was stationed at Fort Lewis in the summer of 1967. A friend of mine and I bought a car together, a 1953 Buick Special. We had some good times driving to Seattle on the weekends. We would pile everybody in the car, charge them a buck or two for gas and head out for a night on the town. I sure would like to have that car now.

But for the rest of you: If you can go to Seattle, GO!. It is a heck of a place to visit. I will never forget the sight of Mount Ranier which is visible from everywhere. I looks like a giant scoop of strawberry ice cream when the sun is setting and the rays are bouncing off the mountain. We went up that mlountain and it was also quite a sight from the top down. There is enough to do in Seattle to keep you busy if you choose to go into town. Hell, I think I have just talked myself into going.

It would be great to meet all of the forum Buick People and further our friendships.

Stevo

I say if Lana would like to see the Pacific Northwest then you should take this opportunity to take her to see the Pacific Northwest. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Considering the fact that Rita and my daughter Arrie are now also wanting to go we're now considering flying up too...next thing you know my 89 year old mom will be wanting to go. a real "Vacation"

Let me make an offer to those of you who wish to extend your stay in the Pacific Northwest or, perhaps, add an Alaska Cruise to your journey to the BCA National. I believe that we can provide secure, enclosed storage for your collector Buicks brought out for the National Meet, if you wish to spend time doing other sightseeing for a period of time before-and-after the meet. Please let me know far enough ahead of time that we can make arrangements with our Chapter folks who have the space available for this purpose.

Wow! That's quite an offer. Although we plan to visit some other things on your side of this great nation, we also plan to do it in our Buick, so we won't need to take advantage of your offer, this time...But thanks anyway.
