Oh Brother

Shoulda checked the archives here and other list servers first, but silly me allowed Brothers automotive to take money from my credit card for some cooling parts for my 70 cutlass conv. 5 weeks later and 15 phone calls to their so_called_shipping dept. and the goon told me to take it up with the Kansas Atty general. He was going to keep my money and not fulfill the order. It got really heated on the phone this AM with the clerk accusing me of harrassing their company for needless inquiries regarding my order! I was wondering what is the best way to pursue this? Anyone else successfully get their money back from Bother Automotive?

I got two words for ya...."BROTHERS SUCKS" plain and simple. Learned that lesson with my first Olds 5 years ago, and like you, I saw there name plastered all over a specific website and thought I would do the right thing and give tme my business, instead, they gave me the business. I did get my stuff, real rare items like and ROCKET 350 air cleaner decal and a set of bucket seat escuchion. If you want some real help, register and post up over at www.realoldspower.com, and let me know when you do because I would love to hear about everyone else's similar bad experiences.

You're not the first, and I doubt you'll be the last to take a reaming from that company.

All I ask is that we not have a bash-fest here on the forums. Keep your complaints and comments factual and professional, and spend your money elsewhere. That's the best way I know to get the point across to someone like that. You can't stay in business if there is no business.

You need to file a written complaint with your credit card company for non-delivered merchandise. They'll generally put heat on companies that do not deliver product ordered by credit card. It comes under fraud statutes in most states.

Someone from Joisey showed up at my place of business with a large stick, I'd probably give 'em the keys to the joint! And then run like hell! <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Maybe you and LaTorre need to get together and take a ride out toward Missouri. I don't think he ever got any satisfaction on that interior kit they botched.

Oldsmaniac-

Although the thought of physical "pummelment" was quite appealing, I fell for the excuse used over numerous phone conversations by that company, which I found out was standard issue. "Sorry, I have been down and out lately with walking pnuemonia...." or something like that.

Raider, my apologies for denting the rules of conduct on this one....there are very few things that get my ire up like the subject of _____________ . I always wonder how they can stay in business.

My question is why, based on the numerous bad complaints, does that other webpage continue to allow this company to boldly advertise on their site? Guess money talks!!!

The best solution is to complain to the credit card company. I know from past experience they do forward the complaint to the seller and allow them 30 days to respond. I recently had a customer complain to Visa that we wouldn't give him a refund on an electronic part (wiper motor interupt card) that he wanted to return (we don't give returns on electronic parts and it says so on the invoice). I still had to send a copy of the invoice to Visa to prove this. Otherwise Visa will debit their bank account for the charge.

They've got some kind of unholy sponsorship arrangement with the owner of that site. I believe they're footing most of the cost of running it. I rarely visit it anymore- most of my posts get deleted once the site owner sees them. Goes back to an incident a couple years ago.

Amazing how some folks can't stand it when people refuse to kiss their hindquarters.

I appreciate the stick idea, but you really don't want to be bunkin' with Ms. Martha, Now do ya?

Some credit card companies will actually "suspend all activity" of a business for possible fraud violation. If Brothers uses, let's say Visa, Visa would not accept any transactions from Brothers until your problem has been resolved. It tends to get their attention pretty quick.

If you do contact the credit card company, connect with the fraud division rather than the general "complaint department" especially this time of year. With the Holidays here, it could be considered just a "seasonal issue", too many orders and not enough stock, and not actually what it sounds like...fraud!

Good Luck

Merry Christmas to all!

If (as you say) you charged the purchase on your credit card you do have recourse. Simply contact your bank or CC company and dispute the charge. They will charge back the fraudulent charge and you pay nothing. If you used a debit card it will be a bit more of a challenge (now it's your money) but still doable.
