CBoz 20 Posted November 2, 2003 Hey -I need to get a hub puller for the rear drums, and really haven't had any luck. Where did you get yours? What style was it? Approximately much did it cost?Ace is braking on three wheels until we can get this solved! Thanks,
Rolf 0 Posted November 2, 2003 There was a guy on the FordBarn site advertising a repro hub puller until just recently, might pay to check the archives of that site, or contact your local tool-rental firm, as they usually have the right puller for the job, it is not brain surgery, just a matter of applying the right pressure to the job to be done, Rolf
imported_Phil Knapp 1 Posted November 2, 2003 If you're a member of the Early Ford V8 Club, look on page 80 of the latest (September/October 2003) issue of the V8 Times. If not, send $130 ($120 + $10 for shipping) to: Winfield Tool Works, 437 West Broadway, Port Jefferson, New York, 11777. Phone (631) 928-3316. They sell a replica of the K.R. Wilson rear hub puller for Fords, part # ABV-156. I just used one of these to pull the rear drums on my '39 Zephyr. It works REALLY well, no pounding, beating, or ruining the threads on the axle. An invaluable tool!
peecher 6 Posted November 2, 2003 Phil, Thanks for the info! I'm in need of the same thing. Does this puller utilize the "groove" on the nose of the hub?
imported_Phil Knapp 1 Posted November 2, 2003 yup, look at the attachment for a picture of the puller.
DizzyDale 0 Posted November 3, 2003 Dear Peecher,I have bought the puller advertised in the V-8 Times,NOT the same as KRW.It uses the groove and if i recall it was 75.00 .diz
CBoz 20 Posted November 3, 2003 Dale -Is this the one you have?http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=34208&item=2440480372If so, how well does it work? It's certainly cheaper, but I'd rather have one thing to tighten, thereby keeping the pull even. Anyone else use this one?
