TAKerry
There are some nice looking cars in the vettes for sale. But forgive me for saying the emporer has no clothes. It is my understanding that the Volo auto museum is owned by the Grams family, and that a lot of their cars are for sale at all times thus I would think that its a for profit business. Museum/classic car dealership. It is kind of misleading to say all proceeds fund the museum. It comes off like its going to a charity/non profit or something. Just say the cars are for sale and be done with it at that point.
JamesR
I see the different points of view on this. Looks like a very nice car, to say the least. Why did I think the '63 had six tail lights? Probably because I know little about old Vettes. Which years had the six lights?

I looked at some of the pricing on their website, I know Corvettes are expensive but these are really up there. 2

In fact, they are one largest contributors to the local and state economies. Jim

Which years had the six lights? 'Vettes of this style were built with only four tail lights, two on each side. Adding two more was a popular modification as was removing the split rear window and replacing it with a single piece one from a later model. I presume many were converted back to their original configuration for obvious reasons.

But it comes off like 'there is this MUSEUM that is selling some of its cars off. The money will be put back into the museum." Yes, while all factual that tone comes off completely different than "Mr. Grams is selling off his corvette collection". How many of the cars in the Volo Museum are for sale currently? I have never been there, nor do I know the owners and for all I know they are great people. I am not knocking their business or their business model, its just your 'ad' comes a bit offputting to me.
Trulyvintage
Volo Auto Sales and Volo Auto Museum are separate businesses. Volo Auto Sales has evolved from selling cars on commission to owning the large majority of the cars it sells. The vehicles posted for sale on the floor of the interior showrooms are for sale with prices posted. The museum vehicles are not for sale - that is because when a vehicle is bought for museum display it is an investment that has a sizable income tax deduction. If that vehicle is sold - usually it has to be at least for 150% of deducted value in order to not lose money. The Grams Family funds The Volo Museum thru the sale of vehicles at Volo Auto Sales as I have stated before. No member of The Grams Family takes home more than a modest salary - including Patriarch Greg Grams. Greg Grams has lived on the property since 1960. Net proceeds are “ invested “ in the museum - that is the business plan - that has how things have been since The Volo Museum opened. Greg Grams personal collection of C2 Corvettes has been put up for sale - this Corvette is from that collection. What you choose to believe does not change these facts. plymouthcranbrook
My experience with the Volo Museum has always been positive from having cars appraised to getting repair advice and although it has been a while just visiting to look around.

Thank You for posting. I understand the common mistrust and wariness folks have with museums and businesses that sell cars and I share that. I first met Greg Grams a few years ago when I helped someone sell a couple vehicles to The Volo Museum that are on display. It is the only time I have ever asked to transport vehicles that I helped sell. I do not take commission or compensation when I help find a new owner. But this was different. I had a feeling …. Within 15 minutes of meeting Greg Grams I got a clear overview of what he had built and was continuing to build for the Grams Family and his larger family which is The Public. Since that day I endeavor to help him however I can. It is a worthy use of my skill set and energy. Jim
TAKerry
Jim I offer my apologies if I have offended you. I meant nothing of the sort. I have no ill will towards Volo or anyone associated with it. After all, If its good enough for Svenghoulie, its good enough for me!
Trulyvintage
How could I be offended ? I observe and report. Greg Grams & The Grams Family along with Volo Auto Sales and The Volo Auto Museum are an anomaly - an exception to the rule if you will. I am so very fortunate to have met Greg Grams and still I am amazed that he considers me his friend - believe me it is an honor and a privilege to be granted virtual unlimited access when I am able to visit …. I think the taillight idea stuck in my head because of the old Jan and Dean song, Dead Man's Curve, which talked about a Vette with six taillights.
