Trent HB
My dad passed away and had this window in his garage. I remember he told me he thought it was from a 1929 Studebaker. I can't figure out what it belongs too and want some enthusiast to use it. I'd appreciate any help identifying it. If you zoom in, you can see the cloth molding. wayne sheldon
To me, it looks like a picture frame. I doubt that it is automotive. It isn't finished on the back side, which it would be if it were to be used in an automobile folding top. And the glass mounting is substantial enough for the bouncing and shaking of a moving automobile. Could be a decorative window to go in a house alongside the staircase? (But I doubt that also for attachment reasons?) I have (packed away somewhere) something similar but quite different that has very old family photos in it. 28 Chrysler
Rear window for a soft top big car. The 1/2 round trim would be on the outside it is made of di-cast, the wood part would be on the in side. The 8 screws hold it all together, notice the upholstery nailed to the inner edge.
dibarlaw
This is how the rear touring car top window is mounted and supported in a 1925 Buick. Drawing done for Hugh's 1925 Standard. I still have the inner wooden frame from my 1925 Buick Master. When they had a new top made in 1980 they simply stiched in plastic. The usual decorative outer frame was die car and plated. One frame that survived. Hugh's beautiful restoration. Edited July 20 by dibarlaw Added content (see edit history)
Trent HB
Thank you guys for the info. I know someone wants an original window for their restoration. Where is the best place to put this up for sale and what is it worth? I appreciate all of the help.
