57j2olds
Hello, A friend from another site told me to run a 180 degree thermostat in my 49 that has a 6 cyl. He said it's better for short trips so the motor gets hotter quicker. What are your opinions out there regarding 160 vs. 180 degree? I have located both NOS stats and need to make sure I install the correct one. Thanks
Rusty_OToole
What kind of shape is the cooling system in? If the rad etc are in good shape I would use the 180 stat and a 4 pound cap. Along with good antifreeze or coolant. If you live in a very hot environment I might go with the 160.
Oldtech
The 180. It wont heat up any quicker but the higher temp is better for the engine.
