rocketraider
There's no middle ground on a 1965 Fairlane. Either you like them or you don't. Coming on the heels of the super-attractive 64, it tends to look stodgy. One of the few Fords that didn't wear the Galaxie-inspired formal roof well. I don't know if proper whitewalls combined with correct 65 Fairlane wheelcovers would help this very plain car or not. Looks like it ought to be wearing state government plates. To its credit these were excellent cars mechanically. Hard to beat a 289 backed with a Cruise-o-Matic.
Cured
This car is the same model and year as my Grandmother's last car. She started driving Model T's in the 1920s. Horses were Grandad's thing. He left the driving and vehicle maintenance to Grandma. There was only one car in Grandma's opinion and that was a FORD. Her last Ford sedans were a 49, 53, 59, and the 65. I drove the '65 in college after Grandma quit driving. It wasn't really much of a car but it did get a load of us across the Rockies to see Rod Stewart in Vancouver in March of '72. On smooth tires. 1957Birdman
This is one of the odd times where the Mercury version (Comet) definitely has the best of it in the looks department, in my opinion. Would be nice to know what engine the car has. Lew Bachman 1957 Thunderbird
Cured
Looks like V-8 emblems on the fenders. Gram's had a 289.
