First gear synchromesh was on four speeds of the early 60s, with the three speeds getting it in 1966. My four speed behind the slant six has no syncros in first (granny) or second. 1964. Getting pretty good at double clutching when I am in stop and go traffic. The 65 300 has syncros in all four speeds.
Rusty_OToole
Ford advertised an all synchro 3 speed in 1962 as something new. I believe this was a first for the industry. Up until then it was assumed you would never need to go lower than second unless you were stopped.
